Here in Madison, the bourbon barrel stout hit shelves a day or two before the barleywine. Having a 2011 and 2012 barleywine side by side right now. The 2011 is slightly better; not quite as much of an alcohol burn but one year I don't think is enough time to make a huge difference.

In a shocking turn of events on the "this year's so and so isn't as good/hoppy/bourbony/blarble as last year", this year's BB Stout is by far the best vintage yet. So vanilla forward...

I'm disappointed in the beer it's defiantly not as orange this year as it was last year. I'm mostly picking up black and white.

I personally think the label looks amazing, especially side by side with the last label. And price wise I'm charging $12.99 per four pack.

This stuff is disappearing quickly from shelves. 2 of my local places are out the same day they got it in. I went to Woodman's today and grabbed the last case in Sun Prairie, still some in the cooler. Their could be more in back for all I know.

It is one of my favorite beers and I have 18 bottles of it now.

Anyone see this in Rochester yet? Really looking forward to trying this, as I was very impressed with Cosmyc Charlie's Y2K barleywine, & Peruvian Morning when it was fresh.

I'm sure places will get a second or third shipment. I remember stores getting waves of this for at least a month or so.

EDIT - I'm beating you with 26 bottles, sucka.

Last time around, it seemed to linger at various stores in Milwaukee for quite a while. One store had it until May or so.

That was the case in MN (twin cities) too. Seemed to be everywhere

Wasn't it around $10 last year? Maybe it was $12 and I'm just mis-remembered?

They were last year, sat on the shelves for a long time too. Although for some reason I dont think it will be the same this year.

I found it last year for between 10.49-12.99 in and around milw.. Not sure if the price went up this year due to the wholesaler, or the retail stores know they can get more for it.

I think it was probably around $11-12 also around Chicago/burbs.

Price went up by two bucks or so due to them aging it in the barrels longer.

I picked up a 4 pack at the East side Woodman's for $12.99. After sharing that afternoon I was at the West side Woodman's and decided to pick up more. There it was $11.99. So I guess the ghetto Woodman's charges more to keep up their nice appearance...
I still have 8 2011's and I'm hoping to track down someone willing to trade some 2010's. The '11s have aged nicely

I think I might be more excited for their BBBW.
