Seriously. Maine. Cantillon shipment before December 25th. IT HAS TO HAPPEN.

    ...that is all.

You could drive down to MA. Seems like every other month we get some.

Where? I've seen posts about Julio's, but that's about it. Any places in the metro-Boston area?

I don't ever look for it so I can't speak for Boston, but I was talking about Julio's.

The last 2 times Julio's got some it sold out in less than an hour. I wouldn't waste the gas and time to come to MA looking for Cantillon. Pretty much have to know someone at this point.

I don't remember that being true.

    Also Redstone had some recently.

yea but their raffle/distribution system is wack. the last 3 times they've had something I was interested in they did their raffle along w/ a bunch of other beer I wasn't interested it. i went there, played their game and was turned away because I didn't 'choose' the right ticket. i won't return. It's frustrating - they tweet they have something, I show up and can see it behind the counter, while no-one else is in the store, and they deny my sale. that system is busted.....as I said, I won't return.

I would call their system more fair (this is coming from somebody who also never won). They give EVERYBODY that comes in a shot at some ridiculously rare beers. Sounds like sour grapes on your part.

I also have never won a Redstone raffle, and I am very pleased with it. Pretty much the only way us normal people can get loons in Mass now... Never been in a store where I could even SEE a bottle before.

Yea, I remember that now, it probably lasted because of that snowstorm that caused havoc on the roads of Worcester and Shrewsbury. I guess I was dramatic in saying an hour but I remember a shipment very early in 2012 where I got the last bottle after work and that was an hour after they announced it on Facebook. I really don't think it has hit a shelf or lasted more than 2-3 days at Julio's since about mid-late 2010. And this year specifically it has been around VERY infrequently. It is basically reacting to a Twitter post within the same night, having extreme luck or knowing a local beer guy at this point. I've been working right down the street from Julio's for just over 2 years now and I think I have gotten Cantillon on 3 occasions, single bottle limits each time. There really just isn't that much to go around and it seems like bars get the first chance to buy it for special events and such, which is fine by me. I basically just consider it a lost cause and am that much happier if I get lucky and come across a bottle. But I guess if people want to drive across the state to Julio's in search of Cantillon, they can go ahead and try.

I definitely agree. I don't see how anyone can have a problem with a raffle system. It is fair and gives everyone a chance to get a nice beer.

The only "recent" shipment previous to a few weeks ago I recall was last year I think and Julios got Fou Foune, Lou Pepe Gueuze and Classic Gueuze. I'm usually pretty hip to these releases but maybe I missed one.

As a matter of fact, several retailers in Maine did get some Cantillon last week.

since there are 800 massholes on BA...y'all could just get a group and order from one of the online places.
Cost is basically the same / slightly cheaper once it is shipped.

I'm sure CBP wouldn't give second thought to what might be the worlds largest single shipment of "yeast samples" ever.

It's become one of those things you need to know someone or be in the right place at the right time. A few people I know just got some from a shipment that arrived in Maine on Friday

I havent even heard of it hitting shelves and I know of an establishment that spoke with a Shelton Bro rep and they said their allotment is already allocated to other places and "they get them all"

I can't begin to describe my hatred that you can ever see it on shelves in MA, Here in NY I get to look at it all in the inventory but am denied the ability to order it because it's "for restaurant/bar sale only."

Sour grapes? perhaps - I dont deny that & your opinion and that is certainly welcome. I'm personally put off by their raffles. I drove there on Black Friday (as I said, my 3rd attempt at these raffles) in hopes of buying Cantillon. I wasn't close but felt compelled to do so - as mentioned in this thread, it is difficult to find in MA. No suprises there. I get Red Stone and they have Cantillon - great. I pull a raffle ticket for Bolt Cutter - I didn't drive there for Barleywine. My wife pulled a raffle ticket for Victory Baltic Porter - WTF? Neither of those beers are anything like Cantillon. To drive there for a chance to buy some Cantillon only to be offered something entirely different. They also had Frangelic Mtn Brown in the raffle. The folks that run the shop are great. I just find the raffle distribution system odd as they are lumping together limited beers in hopes of moving them all. I don't buy beers simply because they are limited - I buy them based off my taste & the reccommendations of beer geek buddies I know & trust.

Anyway - I'm sure they will have a raffle for Cherry Rye & Coffee variants.....and I'm sure ill go back to pull a raffle ticket. Fingers crossed that my 4th time changes this streak - but you have to wonder what other beers they will lump into their raffle.
