Ive made posts about wedding things the past couple weeks....just booked my honeymoon to sandals in St Lucia. Dropping a ton of $$$ and all inclusive so curious if anyone has ever been and what beers they have to offer. Not expecting great beers but hope they have something other than BMC.

    Thanks

I am going to combine two separate Caribbean experiences here but I was at the Sandals in Antigua for my honeymoon in 2008 and visited St Lucia (although not the Sandals) in 2006. The Sandals in Antigua did not have any craft selections, beer was limited to Red Stripe and Wadadil (the Antiguan beer). In St Lucia expect Piton, Piton and much more Piton! It wasnt horrible but my suggestion is to drink enough rum punch that you will reach the point where it will not matter what the beer you are drinking tastes like. Enjoy and congrats on the marriage!

If you're planning on drinking craft beer at Sandals.... You're going to have a bad time.

Drinks with rum, sugar and LOTS of ice are your best bet. I love going to Mexico/Caribbean, but you have to realize you're very likely not going to get good beer. Guinness Foreign Extra if you're lucky.

We went to Sandals Antigua on our honeymoon. Like others have said, no craft choices. The Antiguan rum is very good though. They also made a drink called Banana Sip Sop. I am not much of a fan of mixed/frozen drinks, but I think i drank about 50 gallons of that stuff. Was quite tasty.

I did my honeymoon at the Grand Lucian at Sandals in St Lucia, had a wonderful time. I drank Piton the whole time and actually enjoyed it. It is pretty hot everyday down there so Piton was very refreshing. Also drank a shit load of Bloody Mary's every morning.

Carribean and Mexican beers are probably what you'll find. Sandals in Jamaica had Red Stripe. I packed a few beers in my luggage, so that I could have one good beer per day, but mostly drank Red Stripe and mixed fruity umbrella drinks or rum and cokes. On the ride into the resort, we stopped at a place that had Guinness Foreign Extra Stout, so I grabbed a few of those also. I didn't die.

We did Sandals Halcyon in St. Lucia for our Honeymoon. I agree with the posts above: expect lots of Piton. It's very refreshing / thirst quenching, but it is just another generic pale lager. I say enjoy it though, because it's local, and you won't be able to get it again once your come back stateside.

I wasn't expecting anything micro. I was hoping for maybe heineken or or even red stripe type beers. I am Getting a personal driver soaybe TE butler can go to the store if they have any kind of beer besides the island lagers.

"Guests will be catered to by authentic English "landlords" and "landladies", imported to make sure every detail of your Pub visit is authentic. In addition to imported beers like Heineken and Guinness, we feature the local beers of every country in which we operate: St. Lucia – Piton, Bahamas – Kalik, Jamaica – Red Stripe, Turks & Caicos – Turks Head, and Antigua – Wadadli. Our pubs carry authentic English beers. Premium champagnes are available on our Chairman's Wine List–Dom Perignon, Moët et Chandon White Star, Veuve Clicquot."

Windward & Leeward Brewery, the brewer of Piton, is owned by Heineken.

Presidente holds a dear, dear spot in my heart. But yes, if you're going for taste alone, rum is your best bet in the DR.

Had a blast at Sandal's but think Jamican beers and Macros for your drink choices. That or embrace cocktails, I hit up Mai Tais while I was there and a Red Strip here and there.

Fwiw... at Sandals Royal Caribbean, at Cricketer's Pub, they have Red Stripe and Red Stripe Light (redundant, no?), plus Guinness Foreign Extra Stout, Newcastle Brown Ale, and Heineken. The Guinness runs out quickly, though....
