Good morning fellow bock brothers and saison sisters!

Malty is a little behind schedule this am so your co-pilot will be flying the NBS flag this morning. I hope this message finds you ready for something new and tasty in your nonic, snifter, or tulip. Speaking of tulips, weather here in Central OH is pretty nice today. My Cascades and Chinooks are peeking out of the soil and there are many signs that spring is slowly arriving. Hoping to have something new this afternoon after the first weekend of flag football and soccer revelry.

Just like the Sunday morning paper, NBS is a jam-packed weekly offering for those that DRINK a NEW BEER and post it here. Please DRINK a new beer and pull up a virtual stool and tell us all about it. Linked reviews are helpful, pics are a nice bonus feature, and at the very least a good description of the beer after you've sampled it.

Please hang out and watch a few rounds if you are unfamiliar with how we roll here on Sundays. It's a lot of fun and a chance to share tasty offerings from parts here and far. Please keep the "what's in my fridge", "what I hope to drink", "what I just got in a trade" posts for other threads. Bonus beer karma for those that actually read and heed.

Thanks for keeping NBS fresh, informative, and fun. Looking forward to seeing what everyone is up to on this fine spring day.

    Peace, love, and malty-ness,

    Matt

    ***New American Imperial IPA/Double IPA!!!

G'day to you Matt, and the rest of the NBS crew and...as always...new posters to this glorious thread!

It's nice here in Casper though there's some colder weather headed here the beginning of next week.

My new beer for today, acquired in a trade with Ri0, is a fine example of the style. My review:

    NEW BELGIAN TRIPEL

Wow, it's been a long time since I've done a NBS, I'm thinking almost a year. But here it is, captain lawerence- golden delicious. A Belgian TRIPEL aged in apple brandy barrels. It just sounded super delicious but I must say it was a bit of a letdown, I'm thinking I got anold bottle. It did get better as it warmed, but just seem a bit oxidated overall.

Greetings fellow NBSers! After a warm and sunny week here in the Fourth Corner, the last couple of days have been windy and rainy. The weather was decent enough yesterday to allow some outdoor beer drinking as one of my neighborhood breweries, Kulshan Brewing, celebrated their first anniversary. There was a Paella feed, live music, comedians, and many brews with friends and staff. The wind and rain picked up around 5, so we put up a 20x30 tent. It kind of turned into a project. I hope it's not on Youtube.

My first brew for this NBS is a beer the brewery calls an "Imperial Session IPA", whatever it's called, it's tasty enough to want several, and at only 4.5abv, you could have a bunch: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1396/92135

You probably know me enough to know that I'd want to try THAT out. 4.5% abv, laws yes.

    NEW LAMBIC- GUEUZE

Just recently spent way to much money on a bunch of lambics at my local store. This was one of them. Im surprised i never tried this a long time ago. Really an exceptional example of the style, and its availability and price make me love it even more. The flavors attacked my face...?...

    NEW BELGIAN SAISON

In keeping with the Belgian theme, a new Saison seemed fitting. I really enjoyed this beer, big on the pepper, clove, and phenols. Like I said in my review, not much of a Saison, more Belgian pale like, but enjoyable nonetheless. Reminds me of a patersbier I brewed with wyeast 1214, pretty much gives of the same flavors, which makes me think this is what they used. Worth a try.

New American Pale Ale from Coastguard City USA

Reality is setting in as I wrap up a fantastic Spring Break. Since last Sunday I've had the chance to snag a couple bottles of KBS form a great local bottle shop called Copper Vine, check out Perrin Brewing, and pick up some Chicago brews while visiting the Windy City.

Today's beer is a good one from Oddside in Grand Haven. The blue skies are making me look forward to upcoming trips to the Big Lake, maybe a stop at Oddside will make the agenda in the near future.

New American Amber Ale Sunday here at the Jersey Shore.

Greetings and hats off to the NBS group!

57 warm sunny dergrees today, great weather for outdoor activity and for a new beer encounter.

Maine Beer's offerings are showing up around here more and more of late so I gave this a go: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/20681/54522/?ba=NiceTaps. The pine in this beer is so fresh that it brings to mind the smell and feel of a summer morning here on the outskirts of the Pine Barrens.

A beer named 'Zoe' with a generic white label and a smiley face, delivering the goods. Whodda thunk?

    Cheers!!

Belgian IPA - Deschutes Chainbreaker White IPA

    http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/63/68942/?ba=malty

I wouldn't go so far as putting this into an IPA category, as it stands very much in tradition with a traditional Wit. The hop addition really doesn't push it into the IPA realm, IMHO. Very tasty and solid.

    Greetings NBSers,

Good to be back after a hiatus on account of illness and then the holiday.

A sunny and obnoxiously windy day in the Boston area today. But the snow seems to have left for good at least. Everything's coming up Millhouse these days: the seeds are sprouting, got a small raise at work and my first batch of homebrew is fermenting beautifully with no sign of infection.

I went with the 61 Minute IPA today. I wasn't sure what to expect. And it didn't excite nor disappoint. Props to DFH for once again trying something new.

    New Rye IPA Sunday
    http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/73/34164/?ba=mattcrill

Not sure if it's b/c I've been studying accounting all day or this was just a fantastic beer. Wow! GLBC knocked this one out of the park for me. Loved the hop aroma, bitterness, and flavor as well as the distinct rye character. Has to rank near the top of the GLBC portfolio for me.

    Happy NBS to all!

I think Spring is finally here in Chicago (or as close as we ever get to it at least.). It's chilly, but sunny and mild. We're still waiting for my niece to be born (the kid is taking her own sweet time. I like her already.). The whole family, including my nephew aka my favorite person in the world, are over at my place enjoying the day off and the quiet before the storm.

I'm cleaning out my beer fridge to make way for Summer beers and found this porter hiding in the back. Hope you all are having a great Beer Day and are spending the holiday singing traditional beer carols with those you love.
