Wondering if anyone has had this yet at The Bruery, since they just put it on. I am debating how many to pick up of the 10 allocated.

Yeah I had it yesterday with a couple tickers and the consensus was that it was really good. I'd say the best saison The Bruery has made, and I can count on one hand the number of US breweries making any near that level. If you like saisons, buy it.

Should have left me your Hoarders card so I could have drank some for you last night.

Just got back and can say the same. It is a great saison (though not my weapon of choice when drinking beers), I paid for two without trying and will probably stick with that. Was hoping they would have the CR on tap too... one of these days I'll find that secret keg of Choc Rain...

Also asked how to pronounce it and nobody behind the bar knew which was funny. Best I can come up with is "Ton-knee-air-e" but that could be so far off I have no idea. Anyone know how to order this?

From what I can find Tonnellerie is the French word for cooperage, or barrel making. Seems like the pronunciation is pretty much as it reads, to-nel-er-y.

According to a dictionary website with a pronunciation icon, it sounded like ton-el-REE. Last syllable had the emphasis. It was also pronounced in a stereotypical French accent, too, so I'll deem it credible...

That's about what my google translate app said as well though you seem to be missing a syllable between el and ree.

I thought this beer was a bit lacking. I think there's much better Saisons out there for similar price points. Maybe good for a tick but not much more.

Out of curiousity... what saisons are you talking about that have similar pricepoints and are just as good? $12-13 for a 750mL after discount and tax. I'm not terribly looking at saisons usually so I really do not know the difference.

All of Prairie Ales saisons. All of Logsdon saisons. Most Stillwater offerings. Love Buzz. Tank 7. I'd probably buy Hennepin over this, but it doesn't belong in the same category as the others. Several Fantome offerings are just slightly higher but I'd consider it close (and pay the difference).

And to preempt a comment about it, I'd consider the 3.36 oz difference between a 22 oz and 25.36 oz 750 to be negligible.

All of the ones you just mentioned other than Tank 7 are more expensive. I haven't had Tonnellerie, but Logsdon stuff is usually $15 and up, at least in the Bay Area.

Wow, $5 more for Logsdon in the Bay Area? That's awful. It's $10.99 at most places around here. Praire Ales is $12.99. Love Buzz is $13.99. Hennepin is $7.99. Tank 7 is $10.99. Fantome for $12.99+. Stillwater for $10.99+.

All similar price points for me.

Had a glass this afternoon and I definitely liked it. For my taste, it could've been just a touch drier, but as it warmed up, the rustic character really came out. I think I'd still put aged Saison de Lente over it (12 - 18 months does wonders for the Brett), but the Tonnellerie was tasty and I'll be maxing out my allocation.

Please tell me where I can get Fantome Saison for 12.99. I don't think such a place exists.

A double L is only pronounced as a Y sound when it is preceded by an I (and not even in every case, the city of Lille for instance).

I find it funny that nobody behind the bar knows how to pronounce it. A couple months ago when I was there, I miss pronounced one of the beers when asking for it and the guy who was working there immediately corrected me in a condescending douchey tone. As soon as he turned away to go grab it, another customer in line said, "Wow, that guy is a douche." I laughed. Regardless, good to here that it's good. I'll have grab a couple bottles.

We get all those beers at almost identical prices up here honestly, except for Fantome which was 14.99. Those are really excellent choices by the way. I've been pretty impressed with Prairie so far. If this beer is truly in the conversation with Anchorage, Prairie, Logsdon, etc. I'd love to try it. Is this bottled?
