I wouldn't say NOBODY likes these, but many consider them average and I really like them...

    1. Magic Hat Elder Betty (hefeweiss with elderberries)

    2. Rivertown Blueberry Lager (the trick is to serve it with a handful of blueberries in the glass like the bars in Cincinnati used to do when this stuff first came out)

    3. Avery Samael (if you don't age this stuff, you're asking for 2nd degree burns on the back of your throat. If you give it 5 years, it's like liquid marshmallows)

    4. Hofbrau Maibock (I freaking love this seasonal and drink a ton of it every spring)

Nobody? I'm assuming you mean not very popular among BA's.

    Pilsener Urquell
    Radeberger Pils
    Konig Pils
    Gaffel Kolsch
Gordon Biersch Kolsch, Maibock, Czech Pils
    Boston Lager
Paulaner, Hacker Pschorr, & Franziskaner Hefe-Weizens

I've never seen the gueuze, but a bartender in Dinant Belgium poured a Belle Vue Kriek for my wife and she almost threw up on him. That shit is too sweet to put on pancakes.

Your local GB or the bottle?

When it is first tapped in June I think my local is best. After a couple weeks I think bottle.

Magic Hat #9, Shipyard Old Thumper and Prelude, Southern Tier Old Man Winter, Rogue Chipotle Ale, Mother Funker, Redhook ESB and Long Hammer, Kona Pipeline. Of course, most of those are 80s, but I think they're all above average.

Aside from the Gordon Biersch, which I will gladly take your word on, those are all quality beers. The Paulaner Hefeweizen is probably my fave of that lot, and definitely up there with the best of them.

We got no local, all I've had are the bottles. Not horrible, but there are better examples of American Kolsch.

You named some of the top rated Hefe's on BA, how are these not popular? They all have exceptional ratings.

I'll add one more to my above post (which also scores below an 80): Shipyard Export. I saw it in 12 packs of cans the other day and was stoked.

I think Fullers is the only ESB I've come across that I'd want a keg of. It's incredibly drinkable, where it's English brothers tend to have something kind of metallic/acrid to them.
