You want a DFH Barleywine, go legit and track down some Olde School. I've only had a half dozen or so BW's, but it was tops!

90 Minute is my least favorite out of the DFH Minute series. I'm on the fence about 120 Minute but I'll never pass up some 60 Minute and 75 Minute.

I wouldn't consider it a barleywine, just a much more balanced DIPA than a lot of the hopbombs that are out there. Don't get me wrong, I love hops, but sometimes you want something different. If you like it though definitely try 75 minute, I'm still going back and forth trying to decide which one I like better. And I know I may be alone in this, but 120 is utterly fantastic to me, fresh or aged.

Have a confession to make, I like aged 75 Minute a lot better than fresh. I've had some of the October '12 batch here in my cellar at 50 degrees and they are drinking like champs. The maple syrup is so much more noticeable. I've had both fresh and aged recently, so I'm not just going by faint memories.

I had my doubts about the "Ages Well" on the bottle but I've learned to trust Sam C. I mean, I have some bottle conditioned 7% Rodenbach '07 vintages that are still drinking amazing. Bottle conditioning does prolong the life of lower abv beers.

If it's a beer and it's strong then it can be called a barleywine.

It really sucks that they stopped making Squall because that was 90 improved (Bottle conditioned and unfiltered and such).

Barley wines are just strong beers. This beer is strong enough to be considered a barley wine.

I also feel like it's not up to us to decide what a beer is, it's up to the brewers. If Dogfish says it's an imperial ipa, that's what it is, they made it. It's the same with a lot of beers, prime example nugget nectar (troegs imperial amber!). If they say that's what they made who are we to tell them they're wrong.

60 is much more like a traditional IPA. 120 is hard to find and 75 is damn near impossible to find. I'd love to get my hands on a couple bottles of 120 for sure.

I had my first 90 this evening. I found it very Belgian in taste. Sweet and well balanced. Not much fruit flavor which I would have liked to be a bit more present. Very little if any bitterness which I prefer. Overall, a very good beer.

IIRC, seeing as I haven't had a 90 Minute or any DFH for a while, it is a little sweet from the malt as is the case with most DIPAs. I wouldn't say it's Belgian in style though; the hops are still very present.

Damn I kinda want a 90 Minute now...

I found it very un-hoppy. Very malty and sweet but not over the top. Very good and drinkable.
Tasted more like a Dubbel than anything close to a DIPA. I realize it is an IPA but I found it to closer to a Belgian than I did a DIPA on that scale.

I might have to pick up a four pack of it then or go get some on tap. It's really been a while since I've had it but I think I remember it being somewhat hoppy.
