Nice low lit place with a lot of character. A little more upscale and trendy that you average bar. Furniture up front with big soft chairs and good atmosphere all around.
Quality is good and staff is friendly and can point you in the right direction. I did not try the food, come to think of it I did not even look at a food menu.
Selection is the only problem, as far as draft beers are concerned. They have a decent selection of bottles and menu is detailed and informative at the least. Wine and liquor selection is banging good and you can get some good music from time to time
This was the place I would always head to before Hopcat got into town...all in all this is a favorite place for me in G.R. and I swing by whenever I get the chance!

Very nice!! This was one of the first places I checked out in Grand Rapids. It is fantastic. The Atmosphere is a little bit upscale but not stuffy. There is a nice loungy feel to it with jazzy background music at a good level. The quality of everything is top notch. They have a great menu, beer list, wine list, liquor list. The service was top notch but to qualify this - I was drinking with the manager. I did recommend a couple of things about pouring and they welcomed the input. I was happy to see that even though they are not allow to use logo'd glasses, they still make sure to use the appropiate glass. I (am my friend) ordered Duvel, Delirium, Weinstephaner dunkel, and a foret saison. The selection was very nice - of course they could have more but they have a great selection at about every style. They only have four draft lines. They had Stella, Bells Sparkling, Youngs Double Chocolate Stout and Lindeman's Framboise. I found the framboise and Double chocolate to be a stretch with only four lines.
I did not get to try the food but everything I saw come out was fantastic.
This is a definite stop - I would go in for a few beers and food before visiting some of the other local places.

This place is located in the heart of downtown GR but is easy to miss. It's mainly known for being an upscale wine bar, martini bar but don't let that fool you. This place has the best selection of beers in Grand Rapids. Basically, anything that you could find in a beer store in GR is available here.
They have four tap lines with only good craft beers. The first time I went there I had the Pilgrim's Dole on tap. Last time I went I had a Grimbergen Dubbel and Lindeman's Framboise mixed with a shot of Van Gogh Chocolate (for free!). The other two taps were New Holland Zoomer Wit and St. Peters English Ale. The bartender said they were getting Founder's on tap there as well.
The service was extremely friendly and decently knowledgeable. The coolest thing about it was all the free shots they offered me and my friend and a free beer. We went in during the middle of the day so that might explain why.
My only complaint is the pricing here. I would definitely not get a bottle because it's about three times the amount it would be at a beer store. The tap prices were a bit high as well but the choices make it worthwhile. I didn't try the food but I have heard it's really good. If you have some money and want some really, really good beer on-tap you should check this place out.
