A - Poured a golden color with a white head that leaves lacing behind

S - Is of sweet malt with some citrus and alcohol

T - Follows the nose sweet malt upfront then some citrus taste comes out finishes with a slight bit of alcohol

M - This beer has a medium body with medium carbonation to it

D - I enjoyed this one a lot and it went perfectly with my grilled tuna yeah its a little sweeter than other tripels but I liked it if you go to the brewpub and they have it on tap its worth getting

Served on-tap at Brewer's Art in Baltimore, MD into a snifter at the appropriate temperature (01/15/10).

A: Pours a nice golden amber with an orange hue, capped with slight foam dissolves into a collar leaving some patchy lace.

S: Nice aroma of sweet grains, citrus, coriander, lemon zest, and sugar wrapped in a blanket of sweet booze.

T: Intensely sweet grains hit the palate first with layers of citrus, lemon zest, coriander and alcohol. As with most Brewer's Art offering lots of sugar is apparent as well.

M: Full-bodied with low creamy carbonation that is slightly syrupy, and quite thick and rich.

D: Considering this Tripel is 10% abv. its drinkabilty is quite high, but it will certainly catch up to you not only with its high abv. but with its full and rich flavors.

Overall this is quite a unique Tripel and certainly one that I greatly enjoy in moderate doses. Recommended.

Appearance: slightly hazy pale yellow color with a big two finger head that slowly receded. Decent lacing developed during the session.

Smell: lemon zest, bitterness, grass, and alcohol are most notable.

Taste: Big malt profile with lemon zest, green grapes, pepper spice, hint of yeast, and some grassy tones. Bitterness is hearty and alcohol is very noticeable.

Mouthfeel: medium-heavy in body. Crisp throughout with some dryness late. Very long aftertaste as the flavor last in the mouth for a while.

Drinkability: alcohol levels knock this down a notch - but this beer went down refreshingly quick compared to some others in the style.

Served on draft into a goblet on location in Baltimore.

A: pours yellow gold, clear, with a white one-finger head. good lacing. Appearance contrasts greatly with the character of aroma and flavor, making for an interesting drink.

S: spice, coriander, continental hop, some sweet caramel, citrus.

T: complexity relative to other tripels is great, but somewhat on the noisy side. Pepper, clove, and coriander spice character combine with a citrus and caramel malt backbone, with some play back and forth among these characters in the middle. Ends with a noble hop and alcohol bitterness. Alcohol flavors are not like rocket fuel, which is a plus. The best part of the multitude of flavors is that you wouldn't expect it judging solely based on appearance. However, while I appreciate the complexity and interesting flavor components, a part of me was looking for something slightly more subtle. Kind of like listening to a few songs that you like a lot, at the same time, and very loudly.

M: a thick mouthfeel for a tripel, heavy, viscous, and sticky with a bit of a puckering at the end with the bitterness. I would have liked this a bit drier (personal preference), which might have helped add a subtleness to the flavors that could lead to more appreciation.

D: does not hide the fact that it is a strong beer. The great tripels can hide their strength well; I could definitely feel my sobriety being challenged as I made my way through this. A good experience all in all.

a: bright pale golden in color, with a thin white head

s: lightly fruity, pale malts with notes of stale cotton candy and clean Belgian sugars in the background, herbal hops

m: delicate, light carbonation and a light-medium body

t: moderately sweet pale malts dominate, clean sugars herbal hop flavor comes out in the finish

d: a decent tripel, 10% very well masked...wouldn't want another though given the overall bland flavor and aroma

I am enjoying a Cerberus Tripel, served on-tap at the Brewer's Art in Baltimore. The ale is served in a snifter and is slightly chilled.

Appearance: The ale is golden in color without a trace of impurity. It appears to be crystal clear with no sediment whatsoever. The ale was served with little head, but the carbonation is evident.

Smell: On first smell, I thought that the ale was oxidized. It seemed to have an aroma similar to a Flanders Sour, very tricky for a tripel indeed. Upon later smells, presumably as the ale settled, that sourness was replaced by a nice smooth peppery aroma.

Taste: The ale is somewhat sweet, the result of an array of flavors from pepper to honey. The alcohol is relatively high but not very noticeable. The finish lasts for a good period of time, leaving a slight peppery taste in the mouth for a while.

Mouthfeel: The ale sits well, although the somewhat sweet flavor hides a potent abv. The ale, as it vaporizes on the tongue, gives off a pleasant sensation.

Drinkability: The ale is very drinkable, although at around 10% abv, that drink may be limited to one or two snifters.

Pours a crystal clear gold with a thin cap of head, not much retention or lacing. Smell is a light citrust yeast , a faint bit of spices, not too strong. Taste is a smooth slightly toasted malt with a slight fruitiness and a finish with a nice hop kick and a slight alcohol burn. Mouthfeel is medium, a tingly sort of carbonation. Overall this isn't a bad beer, certainly drinkable, but it's really a rather unspectacular example of the style.

Pours a yellow, murky color with a white, bubbly head with very small carbonation bubbles.
Aroma was heavy on some sweet toasted malts and fresh hops.
Flavor had some cracked wheat, buttered toast and ester alcohol that lingers on the palate. No fruitiness as I would expect in a top flight Tripel
Mouthfeel was light to medium wit a crisp alcohol hit and a nip of spicy yeast on the finish.
Drinkability was slightly above average. I agree with Venom below as the beer got worse as it warmed, which is not what I look for in a Tripel. Solid, delicious beer when cold but hard to classify as a Tripel.

Tasted from tap at the Maryland Brewer's Octoberfest on 10/17/04.

This was the first beer of the day for me, given the abv maybe that wasn't such a bright idea, ah what the heck, it's a fabulous beer and i was able to experience it in an "unaltered" state. ( me, not the beer :-)

Appearance: Golden luminescent yellow, active carbonation, and a bright white head that faded quickly to sticky lacing.

Smell: Aromatic and spicy, developing very nice complexity as I let alone for a few to warm up. Nectarines, coriander, white plum. yeasty/earthy undertones, and a touch of alcohol.

Taste: Sweet malt, apricot, spice, floral hops, fruity esters, a toasty/champagne like nuance. Finishes relatively dry.

Mouthfeel: Rich and full, with almost a slight oiliness to the body, and somehow it retains a spritzy feeling.

Drinkability: Goes down very smooth, with little evidence of the abv.

Rough stuff. The Cerberus can sneak up on you exactly like you'd expect its hellhound namesake could. I suppose that's a good indication of how this beast works. The Brewer's Art's Cerberus has a high alcohol content while retaining drinkability. It's crisp and has a sharp character while retaining a sweet bouquet overall. It possesses a golden color, not hazy at all and a nice fluffy head. The flavors aren't as complex as you'd expect from a Belgian in some cases but that might just be due to the fact that your tongue is numbed by the high ABV.

I had never seen or heard of this one when I saw on tap at the Drafting Room in Spring House had to give it a try.Pours a hazy yellow with some orange tint with a decent fluffy head,pretty strong alcoholic aroma with yeasty tinge to it.Nice malty profile to begin with some light spicey notes but really subdued flavors.Not on par with some of the better triples for sure but not tottaly horrible.

Note: sampled on-tap at the brewpub... outside draft versions seemed "hot" and lack-luster.

A just-slightly-hazy yellow gold body displays dozens of fine, fast-rising bubbles; but the life of its full, frothy, and creamy bright-white head is limited by its 10% abv, and it slowly drops to a thin collar but continues to leaves some very nice lace. The nose presents fruit, sweet malt and alcohol. Its body is solidly medium and crisp with a very fine, slightly elevated carbonation before warming to become more creamy. The flavor is well-rounded with a rich, sweet, and grainy malt that's accentuated by its yeasty fruitiness and tempered by its clear alcohol and firm, backing bitterness. The combination of its bitterness and elevated alcohol lead to a dry finish with a limited malt & alcohol splashed aftertaste. Quite drinkable despite its strength... extra care is recommended!

A little disappionted, poured a pale yellow you could see through, not hazy or cloudy at all. A fairly nice head that lasted through the glass, keeping about a 1/2 inch collar. The normal aroma's of a Triple were there, light fruity, slightly banana clove, lemony. My first sip did not reveal much, and on the second sip the flavors came through, although faint. I will say this, the 10% alcohol could not be detected. A smooth, creamy mouthfeel, though a little under carbonated for the style. Drinkable but watch the ABV.
