During the fermentation of the first batch of this
Abbey-style dubbel, the yeast «died» and was
«resurrected» by brewer Chris Cashell. Made with five types of barley malt and lots of sugar, this beer is quite strong and flavorful, without being too sweet. 7%abv

Deep, clear russet, big khaki head, great retention, delicate but sticky lacing
Green banana, raisin, clove and white peppercorn aroma
Nice spice balance- clove and white peppercorn, green banana, fresh apricot and greengage plum, some caramel and brown bread flavors
Medium-light bodied, could use more carbonation
An excellent Dubbel

Look: It pours amber and clear with a tan head. Head retention is good.
Smell: It has some raisin and plum aromas up front. There are some toasty elements with a bit of sugar and banana.
Taste: It is quite fruity in the flavor with raisons, prunes, and apples. There are some banana notes with floral and spicy elements. The finish is sweet with a little bit of dryness.
Feel: It has a medium body and a bittersweet finish.
Overall, there is something off about the balance almost like a metallic twinge, but the flavors are decent.

Has always been my go-to locally made Belgian Dubbel. For quite awhile you could only find it on tap and in limited distribution. Now, it's also canned, contract brewed, with larger availability and on which this review is based. Still a solid choice. Yeasty, fruity aroma starts things off. Lingering sweetness and subtle spice in the flavor profile. Long lasting finish. If you have the choice, opt for the draft.

This is a nice sweet dubbel with honey, graham cracker, chalky yeast, light caramel, peppery spices, herbs, malt like bread crust and floral hop notes. It was smooth and hid the alcohol well. It trails off on the dry side with lingering Belgian yeast and flavors.
