Appearance: golden yellow in color with a short 1/2" head that breaks apart quickly.

Smell: soft grass, yeast, and some mild citrus tones comes through to the nose.

Taste: grainy malt presence. Belgian yeast, grass, lemon zest, and a nice bitterness create a nice flavored Belgian ale.

Mouthfeel: crisp from start to finish with some dryness late. Medium bodied.

Drinkability: this beer had a nice flavor and was easy to quaff.

Served on-tap at Brewer's Art in Baltimore, MD into a Brewer's Art goblet at the appropriate temperature (03/05/10).

A: Pours a dark golden yellow with a slight chestnut hue, capped with a .5 finger head with decent retention that eventually dissolves into a collar leaving some patchy lace.

S: Bouquet of Belgian yeast and spice with some herbal citrus tones.

T: Crisp and fresh taste the brings lots of Belgian yeast covered in a heavy blanket of herbal, citrus hops. Some Belgian spice is there as well.

M: Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation that is slightly creamy.

D: Good drinkability and only 5.9%. Not my favorite beer of theirs, but certainly enjoyable.

Overall this is quite an enjoyable Belgian Pale Ale that is crisp and clean with lots of flavor. Another fine beer form Brewer's Art. Recommended.

I had this on tap at the brewpub. The menu notes: "This blond abbey-style ale is named for the physical process of turning solids into spirits. A semi-sweet nectar with just a hint of herbal bitterness."

The beer is dark golden color, clear, with a thin head and almost no lacing/ The aroma was just right, a little sweet and bready with understated yeasty esters. Almost a little floral or honey-like but just a little bit. The beer's flavors are subtle, nothing too strong, rather a little bit of the same sweet malts and esters from the smell. Peppery mouthfeel from the carbonation, decent body that is just a little dry, overall a very good beer. This is the type of beer I was hoping for when I stopped at Brewer's Art.

Served on draft in a goblet. Beer is reddish brown and clear. Forms a thin white broken head like all of their beers. Carbonation is moderate to low and there is no lacing on the glass.

Aroma is yeasty, nice Belgian spice aroma with some sweetness.

Beer is super smooth and mild in flavor. There is a slight bitterness in the back. Drinkability is high and so is mouthfeel.

Had this on tap last sunday night...(writing form notes).

A - Golden Color. No Head, minimal lacing. probably due to the wet glass it was served in.

S - Smells of fruit, yeast, and minor floral notes.

T&M - Tastes of sweet candy and fruity/floral/hoppyness. very different. the mouthfeel is unlike any that i've had before. it was very tickelish and smooth. i loved the way this beer felt and filled my mouth. very pleasureable.

D - This beer lacks some complexity, but makes up for it in the intersting mouthfeel and solid flavors. It's very drinkable, and thirst quencing. I like it. would definately have it again.

Had this on tap while conversing with Todd1 the other night.

The beer pours a solid gold color with adequate head retention and lacing. Not a lot on the nose, just a hint of spice and sweetness. On the palate this beer is quite quaffable. It's pretty light and drinkable, with moderate sweetness and a drying, slightly bitter finish.

This beer is very refreshing and would make an excellent summer sipper. It was fine last night in the blowing cold of Baltimore as well. Nice effort by Brewer's Art.

On tap at The Brewer's Art.

Clear, light golden color. Capped with a medium sized, creamy, just off-white head. Moderate lacing.

Aroma gave me citrus, some earthy notes, herbs, and a bit of candi sugar.

Taste was more bitter than sweet, citrus and herbal. Dry, crackery middle. Touch of candi sugar gave a little bit of sweet balance. Finish was spicy/peppery.

Light to medium in body. Medium + carbonation. Quite dry.

Overall, very good. Easy to drink. Saison like without much of the horse blanket/barnyard affect. Really enjoyed this one.

Thanks to Matt Capone(BA capones) for buying me this one...
Appears a transparent gold with a fluffy white head that slowly fades into a mild cap. Small amounts of CO2 pump to the top. Scattered lacing is left around the glass.
Smell is of citrus, flowery, with earthy, spicy notes and perhaps a touch of diacetyl and yeast found in the nose.
Taste is of the same aromas with a more balanced Saison grassiness and funk coming through.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, gently spiced, with a low level of carbonation and citrus coming through.
