A - Two plus fingers worth of lively effervescent tan colored head with a faint orange tinge that is comprised of lots of big chunky bubbles that is slightly fluffy overall... Minimal retention... Once settled, there is a thick rich creamy lacing that is very inviting... The color is a deep dark resiny amber... A cyclone of small bubbled carbonation swirls in the middle of the glass...

S - Brown sugar... Raisins... Honey... A bit of melon... Sweet oranges... Caramel... Candied sugars... A hint of fig... Very sweet, put never overpowering or cloying...

T - A bit boozy to start... A lot of the sweetness alluded to by the nose is absent on the palette... Slightly medicinal... A hint of orange zest... A bit of honey... Fruit cake... The booziness returns on the finish and lingers for a while...

M - On the heavier side of medium bodied... A bit dense... A bit thick... Moderate carbonation... A little stickiness... A slightly dry boozy finish...

D - A definite sipper... Boozy and bit overpowering at times... Not a bad beer by any means, but a bomber is a lot for one individuals... Lots of strong flavor that could stand to be mellowed out a bit... This Brewer's Art offering has lots of good things happening, but there are just enough rough edges to make this one nothing more than decent...

Enjoyed this 750ml bottle out of a large snifter glass. Very tight cork POPS! and lets the brew breath.

A: Pours a copper hue with some blonde highlights Has a thin 1-finger white head that quickly dissipates and leaves a solid persistent lace.

S: Strong sweet Belgian candi aroma with hints of honey, yeast and mixed fruits.

T: Sweet beer with lots of fruity flavors – apple, pear, and possibly grapes. There are hints of honey and lemons mixed in here. Complex flavors cross the palate with every sip.

M: Medium body and medium carbonation.

O: This was an excellent Belgian strong brew. Very complex and very tasty

dark golden yellow, very cloudy with a big white frothy head, Great retention left the head around for most of the glass. Lots of sticky lace driped down the flass and left rings on the sides. Great visible carbonation could be seen bubbling throughout.

Smell was very intresting. Quite lively aroma with hints of sweet fruits, lemon and a touch of sugar. Bananas, figs, and pears could also be picked up as well as a touch of grapes as it warmed. First impression of the flavor was to be honest a bit of a shock. There was something in it I could not place right away, some other reviews have touched on a saltiness, and at first I thought it did have that too, but there was this other underlying flavor which I kept trying to pin down. Finally settled on something of a sweet lemon cake or tangerine and orange combination. Very pleasant and very sweet flavor, never had tasted it before in this style, quite intresting. very smooth delievery and great carbonation

750mL brown glass cork and caged bottle thanks to Carl (sleepnbballrlife). Back label read 371 3/2/13.

Pop! Pours with much gusto, a medium-amber body, slightly hazy with thick fluffy off-white head. Nose is a bit soapy, in the floral category.

Palate is crisp and biting with lots of carbonation dissolved in there. Flowers, botanicals, and a taste like Cava come together to make a rustic farmhouse ale-like palate. Long, striking finish that's not necessary appreciated.

Notes: Well....it's ok. Not as good as the green pepper corn triple.

Nice take on a Belgium Golden Ale, with a twist but overall pretty close to some standards of the style.

Presentation: 750 ml brown corked bottle. Light colored label with the image of a duck and the name of the brew. Back label along the perfunctory legal notes adds briefly that "a portion of the proceeds will benefit Baltimore area literacy programs". Notes best by date (3/2/13) Shows O.G. Plato (18.6), and 8.0% Alc. by Vol. Served in a tulip glass.

A -Clear gold pour, rich and towering frothy head, nice retention, good surface memory, and fair touches of lacing.

S - Yeasty, caramel, brief dash of fruit. Pleasing if standard.

T - Sweet malty sense, yeasty, a bit earthy and fruity with light spicy touch.

M - Light/medium body with generous carbonation early on, smooth as it settles, crisp throughout and a good dry finish.

O - Good golden ale with a nice if a bit less than thrilling flow.

Notes: Nice one although this stays closer to the aspect of the style that I like less, and that typically seems more popular. A nice brew but I´d choose their Ozzy instead.

Pours a copperish brown color with a tight one finger head. The aroma is a little bit bready up front with the smells of green fruits mainly pears and citrus and sweet fruits. There is a candided yeast smell as well with a subtle hop bite. The taste has a bready backbone with hints of spiciness. Over the top is a pear and belgian candied yeast flavor along with citrus fruits. The mouthfeel is dry and moderately carbonated. The overall is good a nice big nose to invite you in and then the flavor delivers.

Poured from a 750ml.

A- a copper colored almost red aleish. I thought it would be a bit lighter. No problem though, very nice head with tight bubbles.

S- I get pears, blegian candi sugars,

T- very nice, you get a nice bready pear mouthfull. Nothing crazy but very drinkable.

O- I am happy with this one. Would def try again but nothing out of this world

I had this on tap at Brewer's Art in Baltimore, served in a goblet.

Le Canard or Canard as I called it with a strong a and was corrected immediately by another patron, oh well. The color is medium amber and accented by light copper w/ a pale cap which settles to a small one and the brew has good clarity. I got a strong whiff of belgian yeast off the bat w/ slight apple aroma and hint of sweet herbal/bitter hops w/ a mild pine edge.

The feel is slightly thin bodied w/ subtle malt sweetness and moderate carbonation w/ semi-dry finish. There is a light spiciness throughout. The flavor has both a sweet and lightly earthy taste w/ mild bitterness in the flavor and gentle peppery yeast w/ a slight pear hint and mild herbal hop flavor. There is a light woodiness in the hops which carries on into the finish w/ a mild biscuit note. I enjoyed this tasty Belgian -my first brew of the night at Brewer's art. A good malt and yeast flavor a pretty solid brew and nice tribute to the Belgian original.

Releasing the tightly placed cork reveals a very active pop--this beer is just waiting to breath. Lively carbonation fills the glasses right to the rim with three fingers of bubbly head; decent head retention here. Mildly chilled, the hazed amber-gold color tells us to let this beer hit cellar temperature. Full jacket of exotic and tropical fruit in the aroma, all soft but very complex, with suggestions of mango, kiwi, passion fruit and Asian pear. The nose also exposes a faint white peppercorn alcohol and some biscuity malt. The medium body shows off a big mouthful of smoothness. Mellow but steady fruitiness throughout, starting with apple peel and pineapple, ending with fresh fig and papaya. Slightly warm alcohol comes off a little peppery, hint of chalky yeast. Solid biscuit malt flavor with a mild hop bitterness, which balances the beer well with the help of the alcohol and light bitter, herbal, nearly clovey phenols from the yeast.

The Brewer's Art flex their brewing muscles here. A bit rustic, but that's a given broadness for Belgian-style beers. A good sipper. Very enjoyable.

Thanks Grant for letting me try this bottle. Pours a pale orange with good clarity and a huge head. A gusher- the head fades completely. Smells of sweet orange, mango, grapefruit, and grapes. Tastes sweet and fruity with light spice. A bit too carbonated in the mouth. This bottle clearly has the beginnings of an infection, but it hasn't affected the flavor as yet, and I believe in reviewing quality control- especially with no dating.

beautiflul amber golden color, very clear. not too much head. taste was similar to a mountie red and a wheat beer, but the crisp taste was surprisingly pleasant, the 8% alcohol helps as well. delicious, one of my favorite house beers from brewer's art, might be better than the resurrection

Carefully poured to avoid disturbing the sediment, it appears amber in the glass. Head dissipates to a layer atop the surface. The aroma reveals fruits (apple, pear, banana), clove, and alcohol. Those all come through in the flavor, but they blend well with the earthiness and Belgian yeast. Also some lightly roasted malts and candi sugar. Starts sweetish but finishes dry and bitter with hints of minerals. This beer is a little heavy, but to be expected for the style. I've preferred the rest of Brewer's Art's lineup more, but this is worth checking out, especially with a friend to split the bottle with.

Poured from a 750ml corked bottle into my trusty Duvel tulip glass. Canard appears a hazed bright copper color with about five fingers of bone white foam. Too much carbonation here. Is this infected? Doesn't taste so. Sly Fox should be able to do better than this for their contract with Brewer's Art. Nose and flavor consist of fruits such as apples and pears, caramelized grain, lightly toasted biscuits, rather spicy yeast. Decent body, but a bit too much carbonation.

I got this one from my man Dyan awhile back, thanks buddy! La Canard is a slow gusher with the pop of the cork. A tarnished copper liquid fills half my snifter while the other half is chunky, dirty white head. There's enough haziness to make seeing through the body a little difficult while carbonation shoots from nearly every surface of the glass. The hefty head sticks around for long periods of time and leaves chunky lacing behind as the beer disappears.

Right off the bat all I can think of is mulled cider but that quickly segues into a caramel maltiness with unidentified spices. A touch of gritty pear comes along on the backside and adds even more fruitiness to this already fruit laden concoction. The nose is crazy spicy and malty but they all seem muddled, unfortunately.

The flavor is also loaded with a good deal of caramel maltiness and a handful of surprising spiciness. Coriander is one of the spices I can pick out and it goes well with the gritty pear fruitiness. The fruit isn't near as forward as the nose suggested which is a good thing in my book. The spiciness is still a little muddled but manages to come together better than the nose led me to believe.

The mouthfeel is down the center of the spectrum with a carbonation that's on the lower side of moderate. The finish shows some stickiness with the mild lingering sweetness and fruity qualities. The spices stick around for awhile.

La Canard is a sipper with the higher than average spiciness and the caramel sweetness on the swallow. With that said it's an enjoyable bottle to crawl into on a lazy evening. The spiciness keeps me from drinking this one faster though.

This is my second offering from Brewer's Art. I like what I've come across so far. Now I just need to get my hands on some Green Peppercorn Tripel and I'll be all set. If you see these guys around give 'em a dance. Thanks again, Dyan!

a: westmalle chalice, orange-amber in color with a thin head, the thick cake on the bottom produced a floater slurry despite a careful pour

s: musty grape juice body with a blend of pale malts and heavy candied sugars, dried apple and a touch of date date, not very complex and a little skewed towards the fruit sugars...I'd like to see some more yeast and papery hop influence

m: carbonation on the full side of medium, medium body - a little slick or syrupy

t: sweet apple juice and white grape malt presence, some moderate honey, maybe a touch of fig, on the sweeter side, mild aged hops, nice flavors but it's too sugary and finishes a bit heavy for the style, booze only hits in the stomach

d: easy enough to split a bottle, but a full 750 may be a little trying

bottle from The Perfect Pour in Elkridge, MD, my first week on the job...cellared nearly a year now
