750ml bottle. Pours with a massive white foamy head. Golden honey in color with a cloudy appearance. Leaves a nice amount of lacing. Really like the unique taste of this tripel, I assume it's the use of peppercorns as I don't think I've had another beer with them present. Definitely spicy, but there is no overbearing heat to the spice. Strong bready yeast profile with a nice touch of herb and grass. I'm glad I have this local.

Caged and corked 750 poured into a Chimay goblet.

Appearance: Surprisingly very clear pale yellow. Thick 3/4" white head. Better thn average retention and amazing lacing down all sides of my glass. Quite a nice looking beer.

Aroma: Spicy, peppercorn, clove, light fruit, banana, biscuity malt.

Taste: Wow, the star of the show is the green peppercorn. Constant and distinct but it never seems over done. It meshes well with the lighter traditional flavors of a tripel. There is an underlying spice character and clove with some light tropical fruitiness and some mild booziness. Interesting and fantastic. works weel.

Mouthfeel: Very smooth drinking given the ABV. Oncer again. Plenty of flavors, but not overwhelming. Not something you'd drink everyday, but it comes with a nice spicy and medium body that continues to the finish. The peppercorns being a constant presence from start to finish.

750ml into wide mouth glass. Let me start by saying this was THE hardest cork I've ever met... Forced me to use a wine opener!

Pours w/short white head over an extremely clear and bright golden body. Visible carbonation. Some lacing.

Faint aromas... Could've used more. Bready, with some rubbery phenols.

Flavors contain a fairly high hop bitterness (for the style), followed by the gym sneakers, and just a taste of tropical fruit, which is quickly overtaken by a thick lime paste. Strange, but interesting.

Mouthfeel is pretty light, given the 9%. Strong carbonation makes it pretty prickly - maybe a touch too much.

Had this on draft last week and had to pick up a bottle. It's a fun one, and really well done. Just don't expect traditional Belgian Tripel ... But maybe that's what they're going for.

Pulled out from the cellar at meridian pint outside of DC

The beer pours an initially clear slightly golden yellow (more straw than golden) with a generous amount of sticky white head. Towards the bottom of the bottle, the thin yeast sediment gets stirred up and flocculates into my glass. The nose is initially a subtle honey-herbal peppercorn that becomes down-right potent green peppercorns as it's given a chance to warm. The taste is a unique blend of the sweet tripel base followed by a herbal/bitter peppercorn aftertaste. It deliciously pairs with my meal. The mouthfeel is as expected - a bit of sweetness/booze, light/medium bodied carried by an intensely flavorful peppercorn bite. Honestly, I wasn't a fan of this beer initially (when it was cold) because the bitterness came off weird/unappealing, but everything smoothed out in due time. This beer is damn good and completely worth seeking out if you enjoyed CBC's Sgt. Pepper.

Never got a chance to try this when i was at The Brewers Art several years ago. Glad to be able to find it.

This is a true tripel. Lots of bready character with a full body and the pepper is definitely there. It pops in on the back side of the ride and lingers and lingers, but doesnt seem to overpower the beer at all. At least for me.

If you're used to heavier beers, the pepper will probably seem more subtle. If you're still getting used to bigger beers, the pepper might bother you a bit.

Overall, I vote that this is an excellent tripel. There are many American breweries making belgian style ales, but few pulling them off to this level.

Pour is lightly pale golden yellow with a bubbly tan head. The nose is nice, yeast up front with a light pepper behind it and some nice lemon, very juicy,with a solid citrus orange hop in back. The taste is much more hoppy and sweet. Yeast is still pronounced in front, great peppery spice behind but the hops are very syrupy and juicy and don't transition well. Light lemon zest then orange citrus and a blast of tangerine with a moderate bitterness in the finish. Creamy medium body with a soft feel and solid level of carbonation offering a semi dry finish.

Beige head. Color haze vibrant gold.

Aroma: peppercorn up front. Very dominating. A lot of spice. Yeast. 

Taste: peppercorn again up front backed up with a lot of spice. Almost reminds me of mint. Yeasty and bready. Very odd.

Moutheel: dry and spiced. Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Ends spiced.

Overall, very unique but not something I want a lot of. Not too true to the style.
