3.3/5  rDev -2.4%
look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Appearance: Bubbly and frothy with some sporadic sticky lace. Crystal clear with a bright brassy amber colour.

Smell: Sweet, almost caramel like maltiness and some oily hop make up the clean aroma.

Taste: A mixed message of harshness comes from both the toasted malt and leafy oily hop. Hops jump in with a disarray of leafy flavour and an out of place bitterness, malt is sweet and seems mismatched against the hop. Finishes sweet with a odd dextrin quality.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, adequate carbonation and crispness … weird chewy slickness in the mouth though.

Drinkability & Notes: Not bad but this is no Sam Adams Lager! Many breweries take on the amber lager and come up with a less then par take on what should be a clean flavourful lager. This is does have flavour, just not in the right places … sort of a jumbled mess that is hard for the taste buds to decipher.

look: 4 | smell: 3 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Presentation: 12oz brown bottle. No freshness date.

Appearance: Golden amber with a touch of chill haze. Head is a finger thick, creamy, patchy white crown that slightly sticks to the glass.

Smell: Pretty clean smelling with faint sweet malt and raw hop leaf.

Taste: A medium-body beer with a creamy mouthfeel. Hops hit on the first sip with a gentle twang, and rind-like bitterness. Strong metallic notes add to the bite, and are almost quenched by a light fruity flavour with hints of alcohol. Malt sweetness is even and balances the hops with light caramel and toasted malt flavours. Dry husk tannins, grain and hop oils coat the palate in the finish.

Notes: A very nice American stab at a German Amber Lager. Too bad there was only one of these in their mixed 6-pak, I could really go for another.

Beer is golden amber in color with a small/average sized head that has decent retention. Has a small amount of lacing. Smells mostly of toasted and caramel malts. Has a doughy/yeasty/bready smell with a touch of a hoppiness in the aroma as well, maybe orange but hard to tell.

Taste is dominated by malts, nutty, caramel, toasted. Yeast and bread are present throughout with a bit of orange peel in the finish. Also has a metallic note to it, not pleasant, but not a deal-breaker, either. Has a creamy, medium/heavy body with average carbonation. A beer that is too malt dominant to be a favorite of mine, also nothing really stands out here, besides the slight metallic taste.
