Pours a hazy deep orange-ish color with an off white head. In the aroma, a dry, dark cherry fruitiness. In the taste, dryer, big dark cherry fruitiness. A small cherry like bite and a medium bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry cherry flavor in the aftertaste. Huge cherry presence, expecting a bit more sour, but nice nonetheless.

A - Hazy red-orange with a finger of frothy khaki-tan head. Fades normal.

S - Sour grapes, cherries, and other fruits, oak, vanilla, funky Brett other sour yeasts, orange and lemon zest, biscuity malts.

T - Sour cherries, grapes, other fruits, oak, vanilla, funky Brett, lactic acid, other yeasts, orange and lemon zest, bready malts.

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a tart and sour finish.

D - Good fruity sour beer. Nice balance.

This brew was shared with us, with a big thanks to StonedTrippin. It poured a caramel coloring, letting up more reddish golden hues around the edges. It held a soapy, tannish head of one and a half fingers. This retained decently, but was easily reproducible. Big bubbles of lacing were left dripping down the glass. There was a moderate haze throughout, with tiny flecks of sediment bobbing about. Carbonation appeared to be medium. The nose gave a hearty malt base, with cooked caramels, white chalk, light wheatiness, and toasted pumpkin seeds. Soft hops came to mix with grassiness and nectary sweetness. Fruit came out much more with warmth, giving both sweetness and tartness. The former was in the form of tropical juiciness of the Liliko’l, which was much like pineapple, with a bit of dehydrated mango twang. The sourness on the other hand was brought in full by the cherry inclusions, mixing with the funky, biting Bretty yeastiness. Our first impression was that the fruit was very forward through the flavoring, but the mix was kept nice and light, and very drinkable. As we sipped, the flavoring opened with an immediate clash of toasted pale and caramel malts, and the tropical juiciness and tart soured Michigan cherries that were so freshly aromatic. Dry oaky bite mixed in, pulling us to the peak where the independent tartness of yeast hit its maximum. The fruit lightened up through the end, but added residual dextrin pucker amongst the continued funky yeast, mineral, toasty caramels, and faint diacetyls. The aftertaste breathed of tartness, solid cherry bite, yeast, light barnyard Brett, and pale metallic malts. The body was medium, and the carbonation was medium. Each sip gave soft slurp, sip, cream, and froth, with big pucker. The mouth was initially coated with oily creaminess, with oaky dryness and tart, tannic astringency. The abv was fine, and the beer sipped nicely.

Overall, what we enjoyed most about this beer was its lightness of flavoring. This is not to say that the flavoring was weak, but rather the blend of malts with the juicy airiness of the fruit, light oak, and solid tartness made for a nice blend. This also helped the ease of drinkability, putting this guy far from a slow sipper. The froth and slurp were nice on the mouth, and nicely contributory. If we had to knock something it would be the nose, as the fruitiness there tended to overpower the malts, hops, and especially the woodiness. We haven’t had the pleasure to have the Maui version, but we love the idea of this, and believe it was well executed.

I hate to give any beer a perfect rating, But this one does not fault in any category... Juiciest sour ever created by a commercial brewery. I tried this on tap and in bottles at Great Lakes Coffee in Detroit back in January. I believe the tap version to be a bit more on the puckering end, whereas the bottled version has developed some malty flavors at this point. The canned version by Maui brewing is not sour.

A - Holds a beautiful deep-red hue with a two-finger head that lasts for as long as you can milk this brew. The glass is laced with white legs running down the side as you swirl the liquids inside.

S -Cherries, passion fruit, oak, and the signature JP barnyard funk

T - Same as the smell with a puckering sour taste. very juicy. Can definitely taste the wood from the barrels and horseblanket from the brett.

M - Very drinkable, in fact, this beer can be too drinkable. Well-carbonated and leaves a puckering smack on your lips for hours after consumption

O - In my opinion, this is the best sour ever brewed...Having tried various other barrel-aged sours by Jolly P, Cantillon, 3Font's, RR, Bruery, Lost Abbey, etc. I believe the Jolly Pumpkin version of Sobrehumano, particularly on tap is outstanding and above the rest. If you have a chance to try it, please do so!

this is leaps and bounds better than the maui brewing version, its more wild, more balanced, and much more pleasant to drink, although I personally didn't mind the maui, just through it got the fruit balance wrong. the one pours a pale red color, cloudy with some more pink notes to it, and a sturdy white head about an inch tall. the nose on it is real tart, the Hawaiian fruit is front and center, although ive never had it a as a fruit itself, it works in this beer much better than the other end of the collaboration. cherry juice is semisweet and a little bitter, and the wild yeast makes this beer super funky, up there in that regard with any of the jolly pumpkin offerings. lighter bready malt gives it some depth beyond the fruit. the low abv is also attractive here as a aid to drinkability, this is an interesting beer that demands some serious contemplation. the finish is brutally dry, uncommon in fruit beers I find. overall one of the most interesting far out beers ive consumed in 2013, its farmy, fruity, and fun. a trifecta in my book.

Poured into a Capital Brewery tulip.

It pours nicely with a head of white that recedes to a film. It smells like the best Flanders Red Ale ever. A huge sour blast up front and a great sour finish keeps my attention.

I could go for this any day of the week. Nice acidity and flavor overall.
