ruddy copper color, 1 solid finger of off white head.

Smells pretty sour for a saison, plenty of brett in the aroma, as well as a little caramel. Almost floral-ish too.

Taste is not at all what I expected. Lots of rose. Despite the aroma of sour, pretty much non existant in terms of flavor. MF is best described as leaving a coat on your tongue,

This is definitely an odd beer. Not at all when I was expecting to get in to from the aroma. Interesting to see how hibiscus and rose taste in beer, but not one I would buy on a regular basis. Definitely worth trying though.

750ml bottle that looks like a 22oz bomber bottle. On it is a label that you have to see for yourself to appreciate. On the label is a really good drawing of a beautiful kind of gothic woman with curly hair and a giant fly on her head. The back label has a lengthy paragraph about the beer. Along the side was a sticker that had the batch number and bottled date. My bottle was from batch 1015/1016 and bottled on 02-21-12. It has a little age on it.

When poured into an Ommegang Tulip, this JP beer was a semi hazy golden copper with some faint sun yellow highlights at the bottom. The beer's color was almost as nice as the label. On top of this brew was a massive head of foam. It was at least 2 inches tall. As for the color, it was white with a dab of beige. It wasn't paper white. It was one of those dirty white colors. This dirty white head of foam had great slow retention. It left behind a thick skim of foam and a huge number of streaks of lace. These streaks coated my glass.

The aroma to me was more tart than sour. Mixed in with the light tartness was some of that Brett yeast farmyard funkiness. Behind all that was some green grapes, green apples and some flowers. This floral aroma consisted of rose pedals and a pinch of hibiscus. Very good and very unique.

Like the aroma, the taste was also good and unique. The taste was dry and lightly tart with a little barnyard funk, fruits, and flowers. The rose pedals and hibiscus made an appearance in the taste, but they came out more in the aroma than the taste. Same thing with the green grapes and green apples. One thing that wasn't in the aroma, but made an appearance in the taste was the oak. Not bad. I wish the fruits were allowed to come out and play more.

This was a light to medium bodied easy drinking Saison with an interesting aftertaste. This aftertaste was dry, tart, and oaky. The aftertaste had its fair share of Brett yeast as well. This aftertaste doesn't linger.

A very nice easy drinking unique Saison. Neither the flowers, the oak, or the Brett yeast take complete control of the beer. I think the Brett yeast wanted to take control, but it didn't. If you want to try a unique Saison, pick up a bottle of this Jolly Pumpkin brew.

Pours a complex reddish orangish brownish color with a substantial off white head made of large bubbles, a steady stream of bubbles flowing up from the bottom of the glass. Yep, she's a purty one!

Smells more sour than I was expecting--very tart, lots of brett too. I get pear and banana and apple and grape, some flowers, something faintly peppery, and a pretty healthy amount of funk. Not hard to believe this is a Jolly Pumpkin beer.

Taste opens with lots of tart grape, fades into some funky flowers and pepper, finishes with more fruit (pear/apple). Fairly sour up front but finishes a little more sweet. Spicy brett really comes out in the aftertaste. Only sweet for a second, pretty dry overall (more dry than acidic). Quite complex, and damn tasty.

Mouthfeel is great, tons of carb, you can feel it bubbling on the tongue. Very drinkable, refreshing even.

I like this!

25.4 oz bottle split and poured into a snifter. Bottled 02-10-2012. Gusher.

A: Pours a hazy amber ruby with a giant puffy white head. Quite dense. Lots of visible carbonation. Head dissipates in the course of a few minutes leaving some nice lacing.

S: The rose really comes through on this brew and the wild yeast has kicked it up a few notches.

T: This is an enjoyable beer, really get the floral rose taste with the saison blend and a fairly intense sour taste. Adds a farmhouse dimension. Very different and quite tasty. I like the rose and brett compliment.

M: Lots of carbonation as shown with the appearance. Crisp finish that is pretty refreshing. Reminds me of a champagne on the tongue. So easy drinking.

Overall has the classic Jolly Pumpkin taste with their yeast strains but also a great rose petal addition. Very tasty and quite drinkable.
