750ml bottle poured into tulip 14/10/12

A hazy golden peach with a a hands width of foam, I got about a 1 to 3 ration of liquid to foam, I still have more foam at the bottom of the glass then I had liquid when I poured it. the massive soapy head ends up as a pencil top eraser like island that pivots like a bobble bead doll when I tilt the glass.

Edit- I'm bumping this one up to perfect, my third pour left me with what can only be understood by someone who's gone down the Great Ocean Road outside Melbourne and seen London Bridge before it fell into the sea. my first bridge of foam crossing from one side of the glass to the other, NEAT!!

S holy funk batman, some tea bag herbal notes with some citric and leafy hops but the Brett is firmly in charge and I didn't see it coming, Beers this funky normally have a little more going on other then the funk, don't get me wrong though I'm enjoying this one

T more of the same really, funky herbal notes and leafy almost grassy dried hay come out, I want to say soapy but it just might be all the foam filling my mind with suds

M a small sip explodes instantly upon entering the mouth, pretty lively even for the style, very airy and foamy with a little grittiness left behind with a herbal tea leaf funk aftertaste

O for some reason I wasn't expecting a a funk bomb and I'm surprised how simple but funky this one is. I'm amazed this one didn't explode when I opened it with how carbonated it is, respectable beer though don't get me wrong

Unexpected qualities, mostly a good thing, something you could easily session but you might win a burping contest along the way. very funky and heavily carbonated low alc% brew, worth a shot for sure

Poured from a 750ml capped bottle filled on 04/12/12 into a nonic. Stored in the cellar for about 9 months.

This beer looks beautiful - slightly hazed honey/orange with 3 fingers of super dense eggshell rocky-peaked froth. Lace is off the charts leaving sip rings and large 3D clumps of the froth all over the glass, the last sip comes from under a 1 inch layer of fine creamy foam. Impressive.

Aroma...hmm...it's a bit of a bummer - fresh cut grass and dank dirty gym socks with a tad bit of lemon/lime.

As with my other experiences with JP, flavors are not pronounced and quite flat for a saison. Grassy hops are the highlight of flavor followed by some lemon grass, peppery spice, and dank yeast.

I do like the medium/full feel. It's creamy and oily for a saison. Low abv makes for high drinkability.

Overall, I am not overly impressed with this beer or with this brewery to be honest. However, I may give it another shot since bottle was a year old. Maybe it just didn't hold up well. If the taste matches the look and feel when it's fresh, then I would recommend it.

750mL bottle poured into Tired Hands saison glass. Bottled on 03/06/12

A-This thing poured a crazy huge thick head. Almost a hands width of white dense foam. I know its bottled conditioned like all their beers so this guy was just waiting to be opened. Foam is literally coming out of the top of the bottle as I type this haha. Other than the over carbonation within the bottle the beer looks good. An unfiltered burnt brown/orange body takes place of the huge head after some time. Nice lacing as I drink it.

S-Smell is full of different aromas. Burnt carmelized sugar, hop resin, tangerine/orange rind and a funkyness that gives off the aroma of some brettanomyces. Citrus notes are in the back end mixed in with some black pepper.

T-The taste is not as interesting as the nose. Caramel, bitter orange rind, citrus fruits, bready malts, pepper and some tartness at the finish. Has flavor but not as pronounced as they are in the nose.

M-After the initial pour(s) the carbonation is actually really nice. Medium mouthfeel with dry finish.

O-A good farmhouse saison that lacks in the flavor department. Expected more with the nose offering up alot of unique flavors but definitely do not shine through with the taste. Maybe a fresh one would change all that?

Picked this up at Biergarten in Jenks, OK. Bottled on 04/12/12

Pours caramel with 3+ fingers of rocky cream colored head. Head conitinues to surge from the bottle neck. Insane lacing & head retention, clouds up a bit as the bottle drains

S: Sourness & appleskins that fade as this warms

T: Follows the nose, much sourness & tartness up front. There's a touch of grapefruit as this wams, pears & crab apples with some tamped down cinnamon notes, but mostly sour & tart. Finishes fruitty tart & sour

MF: Medium bodied, subtle carbonation

Suoer drinkability, this is one my favorites from JP

Poured from bottle into large rounded beer glass.

A-uhhhh, explosive? A big gush of foam greets you upon opening the bottle. Pours with a mountain of sculptured foam head. The foam kind of makes twisties as it escapes from the bottle. Retention is prolonged. Lacing is solid. Pours a cloudy dark orange/amber.

S-pungent funk, barnyard and pale malts. Definitely some orange wafting in here. Some pepper notes.

T-definite Brett kick here. Taste gives a bit of vegetable earthiness, peppercorn and orange rind.

M-a moderately full mouthfeel. Lots of carbonation making it somewhat effervescent. Finishes with a tiny bit of almost tart sweetness.

O-a funky farmhouse beer. Certainly meets the requirements for wild and crazy ale.

A: Not a gusher but be ready for a bit of foam over and than watch as foam slowly rises from the bottle after pour out a glass. The beer is a slightly hazy light copper color. The head is beyond enthusiastic with a light tan, meringue like, stiff foam filling three quarters of the glass.

S: A moderate grapefruit-like tart aroma and barnyard Brett funk with the grapefruit being from from the yeast. There is still a moderately-light citrus hops aroma but being a year old time has diminished their strength. There is also a fair amount of malt aroma being mostly Pils malt with some bready and a touch of caramel.

T: Not as sour as the nose suggest with just a light sour but a decent amount of Brett character. The hops flavor is low and the bitterness is moderate with a slightly pithiness that built as you sip it. There is the fruit and peppery spice of Belgian yeast. There is a moderate pils malt and light caramel malt flavor. The balance is slightly tart and bitter. The after taste is of bitter lemon and lime peels.

M: A medium bodied creamy beer with a moderately-strong level of carbonation.

O: It an off beat beer that defies style but it's enjoyable and worth the purchase. It is a bit too thick and malty to be a Saison and is maybe like a light weight, dry triple. Defiantly a great beer to enjoy with dinner with an acidic, citrusy character that with cut through rich foods just avoid sweet sauces otherwise you'll have that orange juice meets toothpaste effect.
