Batch 1060
Bottled on 4-6-2012
P: A cavernous mountain of off white orange tinted head that seems to dissolve into itself leaving behind cotton candy lacing. The body I nice and hazy with vigorous bubbles in a sea of golden apricot. Retention is great and leaves the glass looking like a melted ice cream float.
S: Vibrant fruity esters, apricot, pineapple, saw dust, coriander, typical JP vinegar funky yeast, herbal and timid citrus hops.
T/M: Taste starts of earthy and smooth with a sting of carbonation on the tongue and backdrop of apples, and timid farmhouse yeast. Then the dry hops join the party on the palate with herbs and pine oil. A similar bitterness of unsweet iced tea with lemon, toasted grains, hints of honey, and citrus. Body I'd medium and zesty and finishes dry, salty and woody bitterness.
O: A nice hopped up version on the Bam. Hopped saisons are great but sometimes the hop counterbalances the subtlety of the delicate flavors. This is border line but still a good beer that I would never refuse. So far I'm a big fan of Jolly Pumpkin and eager to continue partaking of their offerings.

Light amber colored, plenty of white head 3/5". Noble hop smells. Floral.
Hops weren't as big in the taste and mouthfeel, bitterness was up, spritzy carbonation. Was more like a highly hopped light pale ale moreso than a saison or esb.
Expensive price for what you get, would not repeat.

L: Pours hazy amber under a 2” white foam cap that grips the side of the glass.
S: Has a lemony, tart, light funk aroma that reminds me of Orval.
T: Big lemony citrusy tartness balanced by an assertive hop bitter emphasis. The hop bitterness masks some of the barnyard funk.
F: Soft in the mouth yet tart, medium light body and medium high carbonation.
O: Tart, dry and refreshing with an assertive bitterness.

great aroma on this, citrusy with some funk, my favorite part of the beer. the flavor following the aroma kind of fell off for me. up front some good citrus flavor which fades into funk and some earth tones in the finish. very light and crisp, high carbonation which was to be expected in this particular bottle. overall not something i will rush out to get again but it was something nice to sip on for a change of pace.
