Bought a 750 of this at star grocery in Berkland (could be Oakland...could be Berkeley...).

A- This just looks... awesome. Bright gold with huge fluffy islands of foam. My only complaint was that there was too much foam after I opened it. It came billowing out the top for a while.

S-Off the bat, I can tell that this is brewed with wild yeasts (if I didn't read it on the bottle). There's some funk, Balsamic, cidery/winey aromas, a little bit of oak, and even a little bit of alcohol heat if you shove your nose really deep in there.

T- OMG! This is all over the place. There's vanilla and marzipan. Clove. Some funk and tartness, but this is most definitely NOT a sour ale (though maybe mine is rather fresh, as other people report some sourness and acidity in this beer) Pineapple in the middle. Dates and tropical fruit. Maybe some figs. Rounds out with a certain medicinal hoppiness. HUGE nods to Orval. This beer is awesome.

M- Light and bubbly. The taste lingers on your tongue for a long time, which may add to the perception of mouthfeel.

D- This is so good. I can't wait to buy this again, and try other things by this brewery. I seriously looking forward to each sip. If only I could drink it slower

Batch 953, bottled in 2012. Gushes upon popping the cap, pours a murky gold into a globe glass. Foamy white two fingers of head leaving speckled lacing on the glass.

Grainy, with lots of Belgian yeast, moderate amounts of musty and leathery funk, wet oak and a lemon juice and green apple tartness.

Wet hay, lemon juice and cider with tinges of Belgian coriander, pepper and clove spice. Tartness is very manageable leaving the mouth to water with sour cherries and white grape juice as the finish is scrubbing with an aftertaste of olives. Hops are lemony and grassy.

Medium to heavy bodied with good carbonation but does get a bit tiresome. The tartness is mouthwatering and it cleans pretty well. ABV is incredibly well hidden.

Jolly Pumpkin coming through with a tart, funky and flavorful brew. Saison like with a light flash of tartness to it, ends up being memorable.

Finally got around to trying this today at Resurrection - I wonder if this was a good batch...

A: sunny-yellowish-gold and quite hazy... big puffy-cottony white head.... the cloudiness threw me off a bit for something that supposedly barrel-aged and a "biere de garde" (according to what it states above)

S: fairly basic, unrefined, and honestly quite bland lightly spicy and peppery saison.... not much suggesting fruit in the ester profile.... i suppose some perfumy/floral qualities, but just not jumping out at me

T: multi-grain cracker up front, faint doughy-yeast.... custard-like sort of pumpkin-pie-esque in the middle.... dry and grainy toward the end with a slight hint of ethanol and quiet, very late tickle of sourness in the aftertaste.... while straining to taste much up to the middle, it drops off quite abruptly and silently, almost as if nothing was there in the first place

M: light in weight, dry and a tad scratchy... luckily the alcohol is fairly well hidden - no heat, let alone warmth

O: I might try this again soon, however, this really didn't leave a exciting impression

750ml bottle served in a pint glass.

Enjoyed @ PiBar - Lausanne

A: Pours a pale yellow color. Slightly hazy. Forms a big bubbled and aired white head. Medium to low retention and many lingering lacings left in the glass

S: Quite funky. Malty and sour in the nose. Reminds a Saison somehow since it's also quite spicy and peppery. Lemony hops and a bit woody

T: Sweet malts followed by a nice moderate sourness. Lemony and peppery. Notes of oak and citrus fruits. Interesting and mild touch of grassy and lemony hops

M: Medium body and carbonation. Sour and citruses aftertaste

O: Excellent drinkability. My first Jolly Pumpkin. Good surprise.
