Out-of-focus ochre absolutely choked with yeast. For the millionth time, how can anyone prefer the look of filtered beer? The beige cap is at least three fingers after the pour and looks much better as it starts to melt. Soft divots are beginning to appear in the upper surface, along with smaller pits. Fine, filagreed lace looks fantastic as well.

The aroma is true, red-white-and-blue American IPA, even though a little more pungency would be nice. Bright lemon, orange and grapefruit are a fruity, C-hop delight. Shouldn't a beer named Bubblejack smell more like Mary Jane than this one does. Why else the name?

BIPA isn't the hoppiest IPA in the world, but it's immensely fresh and sunshine bright and hop flavorful. Age is a mystery since July and November are both notched on the label. Besides, it doesn't indicate if those are 'brewed on' or 'best by' dates. Never mind, my taste buds tell me that the beer is still incredibly vibrant.

There's easily enough malt for the style. Thankfully, the brewers decided not to use much caramel malt so the hops could do what hops do. The hop bill tastes mostly American with an assist from the Brits. There's an herbal-earthy quality, along with the citrusiness, that gives the beer a palate pleasing complexity. Apricots, grapefruit, freshly zested lemons, and yes... maybe even a little ganja.

Because the glass is now coated with fat rings of sticky lace, the appearance score will get a much deserved upwards bump. The mouthfeel is full enough and creamy enough to make drinking a summer breeze.

Even though The Unforgiven Amber Ale isn't a beer that I would usually go crazy over, its quality was obvious after the first sip. Bubblejack IPA is at least as well-crafted and is even more enjoyable for this hophead. This brewery bears watching. Thanks, once again, to the outlaw friar from Minneapolis.

Kind of a weirdo, but I like it (and English IPAs are hard to find around here, even if it is too bright and zippy-hoppy for a strict to style English ipa). Lots of interesting stuff going on, but it doesn’t entirely add up. At the tap room, served in a shaker. Pours a slightly hazy and bright gold, with a good pill-white tight bubbly head. Nose is bright floral and light bready notes, and the taste follows exactly. Fairly hoppy for an English take, but I’m not a stickler. Maybe a little citrusy tea-like hoppiness in there, too, and a little dank weediness. Modest bitterness, and also a little tannin that I associate with black tea on the finish. It is distinctive and tasty, though a little strange. This is bright as opposed to mellow, but it is still very enjoyable.

Appearance: Pours hazy, but fairly bright, orange color A medium white head that fades. SRM of 10. (3.75)

Aroma: Strong malty aromas here. There is some sweet orange and tropical pineapple and melon citrus. Slight floral component. Followed by some very sweetened monkey bread, toffee, & cinnamon roll. A lot of English malts on the aroma. (4.00)

Flavor: Flavor follows the nose with very balanced hops and malts. Nice orange, lemon, peach, pineapple, mango. Slight honeysuckle flower, but then a lot of sweetened bread. More monkey bread and cinnamon roll. Some wet cardboard flavor which I have never described before. Yet, the English malts are strong. Finishes slightly sweet, but not overly sweet. A pleasant sweet finish. (4.00)

Feel: Medium-bodied. Sweet, but decent carbonation and finishes surprisingly clean. Slight lingering and very pleasant sweetness lingers on the palate. (3.75)

Overall: A nice interpretation of an English IPA. American hops with English malts. Very delicious. Drinks similar to a pale ale. A more traditional version of an IPA before the hop craze. Nice and balanced and very drinkable. I should compare it to the Goose Island IPA. (Final Rating: 3.96)

This is a good IPA. Not the easiest to drink in terms of mouth feel. It’s not like it’s too bitter or anything, but doesn’t go down as smoothly as I’d like.

I tried this beer at my neighbors house last night; he brought a sample pack back from Wisconsin. It poured a hazy golden with white head that left some lace. The scent and taste were bitter and English leaning. The Mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's ok.

Pours a clear, gold color. 3/4 inch head of a white color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of citrus hops, earthy malt, hint of wheat, slight piney hops, hint of tea, and a hint of alcohol. Fits the the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with a high carbonation level. There is a strong bitterness. Tastes of strong earthy malt, strong grass, yeast, slight wheat, citrus hops, slight alcohol, and strong tea. Overall, good appearance and aroma, but too bitter, too carbonated, and much too grassy.

Great unfiltered look and a really strong citrus aroma. Definitely a citrus heavy IPA with a strong bitter aftertaste. Fine for what it is, but I've never been too big on citrus IPA's.

Aroma is pine, spices/vegetables and a hint of citrus. The flavor is citrus, light grapefruit, fruit, spices, malts, mild EIPA qualities and a slightly bitter/tangy finish.

Bubblejack pours a golden color, with lots of sediment and a small head. There is a skunkish earthy aroma. Taste has a big bitterness, crisp malty flavors. Overall, it is not the best, crisp and light flavors with a big bitterness.
