This is one of my local beer spots. They've got a new brewer who has trained under Jack Harris from Bill's Tavern. I suspect in a little while the quality rating will improve.
The beer list is pretty static. I am hoping for some new recipes. Several years ago they had a great beer called Peacock Spit. Out of towners did not buy much of it and perhaps the name had something to do with that. But the spit is a sand island in the river and not what you'd think. It was a great beer.
Their strong ale is my favorite. Great malt profile and low hops.
They have great fish and chips. You can get tuna, salmon, or halibut. Or all three. They've got salads and pizza. And burger of course. Their grilled chicken salad is one of the most popular items. Some years they grill chicken out doors in the summer and have it really hot and fresh.

Large place with a waterside view. Large and open, but a bit old feeling inside. About 10 beers to choose from. Had the ipa which was decent and the imperial oat stout which was very good. Service was wonderful and friendly, but we did not order food. Several glass size options if you don't want a full 16 oz. of one beer. They also have a sampler platter which was nice. This is a nice place, but not a must stop.

Stopped in over the 4th of July weekend right after visiting Fort George Brewery just up the road. The place was PACKED!!!
A: The place had a great atmosphere, sitting on the Salon side, the place was decorated in a slightly "western" theme. Dark hard wood bar and furniture to follow suite. The place was packed with what I am assuming were weekend tourist, with me being one of them. They had a live band playing a assortment of music. (I was going to give this place a 4.5 or even higher but there was one thing that slightly annoyed me: Please segregate your bar from the normal dining room and don't let minors in. My buddy and I sat on the bar side on purpose, but were annoyed by kids running around the place yelling and screaming weaving in and out of the bar stools we were sitting on -no parent in sight).
Q: My buddy and I both got tasting trays, and the bartender was nice enough to give us both a different set of beers so we could try everythng they had available. I was very impressed by many of their beers, most notably their Bitter Bitch DIPA and their Bad Ass Stout.
S: Service was as good as it could be on such a busy day, most of the staff was pretty knowledgeable about their beers.
S: As far as beer selection, for such a small brewery, they had a very large tap list of several different styles ranging from yearly beers to summer seasonals.
The place was great besides the annoying kids running around the bar. The beer was excellent, making me want more of what these guys have to offer which also brings great news -the staff says they hope to start canning here soon! Give these guys a try if you are in town and have the time.

A: aling in this place is a lot more spacios than I expected. Nice bar area, some wondown seating overlooking the water and some mroe seating tucked away to the right as you enter with TVs. Pretty cozy place
Q: I had one beer and it was the standard IPA. It was average with a CO2 issue. I cant speak for the rest of the beer but the IPA was one not to be had again
S: No complaints on the service. they all seemed nice
S: Good. they a had a IPA, Amber, Stout, fresh hop, strong ale and a few others on tap
F: No food was tried here

Astoria Brewing/Wet Dog Cafe is located right on the water on Marine Drive and 11th in Astoria. Street parking is available nearby.
The exterior allows for a peek at some of the brewing equipment. Inside the place is spacious with a gift shop right inside the entrance offering glassware, clothes, knickknacks and food. From there the bar is on the right and displays all the available beers on a long chalkboard right above it. The rest of the space is devoted to seating. There is also an adjacent room that seems to be devoted to games. Nice collection of license plates from all over the country along with kitschy signs. Great view of the marina from any of the tables along the windows. Good music in the background too.
The beer selection is decent. Astoria carries 10-11 beers including one or two seasonals. The beers are available in a sampler of 5 and range from Blonde and Pilsener all the way to a Double IPA, Imperial Stout and Strong Ale. All the beers are at least average with a couple being pretty good.
Service on a weekday early afternoon was good. Our server knew about all their beers and even pointed us to the other brewpub in town.
Lunch was good although it came down to sharing a giant nacho appetizer. No complaints there.
Overall this place may not have world class beers but the location and atmosphere make this a no-brainer for a visit to Astoria, especially when the weather is nice.

I liked this place. I didn't eat but my dad had a cup of chowder he raved about and he is very picky about chowder. I had the strong ale which I loved. This is one of my favorite styles and I was very impressed with this one. I also had the Imperial IPA which I was also impressed with. As mentioned the view is wonderful, I could easily see myself watching it rain for several hours on a winters afternoon. All the food we saw going out to tables looked to be good solid pub grub, if we didn't have elk burgers waiting at the campsite I totally would have ate here. I brought a growler of the strong ale back north with me and the friends that tried it loved it.

Stopped here on a visit up the Oregon Coast this spring. Kind of stumbled upon it as we were looking for a place to get a bite to eat. The building itself is pretty large, with an awesome view, right on the Columbia river. I was very impressed with my dinner, I had the lasagna. I drank their IPA which was very good as well. Looked like they had maybe 5-6 of their own beers as well as some guest taps. I would highly recommend this place if you are ever in the Astoria area. Great beer, great food, great scenery while you eat and drink what more could you ask for really?

I go here almost every time I come into Astoria, which is about every week. I like the beers alot, and the food is very good for what it is (fish 'n chips, burgers, reubens, typical bar fare). The service, however, is not so hot. They seem to be a bit understaffed most times I go there. All the wait staff are attentitive and hard working, there just ain't enough of em.
As I said, the food is very good, I just wish that they had better menue.
The veiw from the dining room, or the patio, is really great. It's a great place to sit and kill a few pints on a sunny day. The (very busy) ship channel is only a few dozen yards from the window, so expect to see quite a bit of interesting ship traffic. It's lot's of fun for kids.
The brewery is a 4 barrel system and they produce about 400 barrels a year, if you're wonderin'.
If you find yourself in Astoria, this is a pretty good spot for lunch and a beer.

A great example of the Oregon craft brew pub genre at its finest. The view is sensational, right on the Columbia River - you can almost reach out and touch the rusty freighters in the river channel.
Beer was outstanding, including the IPA and Blueberry Ale - very fresh and flavorful - high quality exceeded expectations. A few other beers we didn't try.
Food excellent - I had a delectable blue cheese burger and the wife had a salmon sandwich. The quality, preparation and flavor of each was outstanding. Good service, good prices, good selection.
Highly recommended overall. We were there during lunchtime, but it was not very busy in early January.
