Presentation: 12 oz brown long neck with an ink jet printed bottled on date above the label.
Appearance: Vibrant deep golden hue with a fine clarity, densely frothed head sticks just about everywhere.
Smell: Earthy and citric hop in the nose with a mild maltiness in the back, hops are a mix of Cascade and Cluster.
Taste: Soft citric hop throughout, bitterness is just above the malt flavours. Some alcohol is there with a warming factor towards the end. Toasted and biscuity flavours from the grain show a stable base of malt. Hop flavour in its softness lingers for a while.
Mouthfeel: Moderate body, lined crispness with a smooth backing.
Drinkability & Notes: A highly drinkable bottled ale, seems faintly withdrawn over the years but is still a reliable American IPA.
One of my favourites especially when I can get it with a month old or less "bottled on date". Nothing like fresh Harpoon IPA! Oddly I like this brew better in the bottle than on tap.

A pretty decent, all around good IPA. Plenty of hops and malt to match, with a nice alcohol kick. Unfortunately it's seems to be changing year after year, getting dumbed down for the masses and is nothing like the original Tod Mott recipe. Still, a solid favourite of mine and a nice backup beer.

I really recommend trying this at the brewery.
The pour is clean with a cotton like head.
A shade darker than amber in the color.
The floral smell is what sets off the good feeling. Take the time to get your nose in the beer.
The hops comes through in the taste and lingers a minute.
The beer finishes nicely and is constant from start to finish.

Glass: Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.
Appearance: Perfectly clear pale yellow to pale orange. A finger of soapy bright white head is produced from an aggressive pour. Lacing sticks around beautifully and helps the rating here.
Smell: A bit of piney and citrus character, but overall relatively mild in smell. Nothing offensive, but nothing too exciting.
Taste: A bit of bitterness, with a relatively strong floral character. A bit of a "soapy" character in there as well. Malt is pretty balanced.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with high carbonation. A slight oily texture.
Overall: This one is not bad at all, but certainly nothing special. It is pretty balanced, if that is what you like, but the floral character is not for me. Wouldn't buy this one again, but I wouldn't turn it down, either!
