Very good atmosphere laid back and enjoyable setting. Bigger space also than it looks like from the outside. The service is good, and you have to keep in mind its in a college town so the staff and patrons for the most part represent this. The food is very good, with options for elk and local meet as well. The beer selection changes regularly and they do a good job putting a lot of different beers out. A lot of the beers are solid and a few are very good. Very reasonably priced and an overall solid bet.

Pretty cool place. It is one of the older (if not oldest) building in Slippery Rock. It was built in 1805. It was an inn, a cabinet making place and a coffin building business. They were undertakers and furniture dealers, said an 1897 ad. There are beams from 1835 that are still in the brewery. What a neat building!

The food is fantastic, the beer is alright. However, for what the beers that I tried lacked in the wow factor, the food does make up for it and I am sure I will find a beer that is awesome plus its a really cool atmosphere. They seem to have a ton of selection of beers always being brewed, so maybe I just didn't come when the right beer was there for me to order!

All in all we’ve been here a few times since moving out this way and plan on going back again.

Really nice spot. There isn't much going on in Slippery Rock, but this is the best restaurant on the Main Street at least. Not sure what else might be around, but there isn't much that could compare to this. Great interior. Just a ton of wood all around and a lot of rooms all over. Almost like this was a house at some point. Selection is huge. Tons of different beers to try. Service was very attentive. I like this place a lot. Isn't much around here in general, but it's worth going out of your way for. Good food too. I'll be back.

This is a great place to go grab a bite to eat, fill up the growler, or meet with friends for a night out. In the heart of Slippery Rock, this brewery has it all, a great atmosphere, a friendly staff, and good food and drink.

The year round beers would be good enough, but as the seasons change, so do the beers, and some of their seasonal brews stand tall. I have given many of them a try and a few of my favorites are the Buck Snort Stout, Feedbag Stout, and the Paleo IPA.

The farm to fork beef burgers and the beer cheese and pretzel appetizers are great. I have never left on an empty stomach and have never been disappointed. If you find yourself in Slippery Rock, either visiting someone at the nearby College, or just by chance, this brewery is a must visit.

I've been wanting to stop here for some time. I finally got my chance.

For off, parking can be kind of a pain, as it is mostly street parking. But that's not really a complaint. I understand it's a college town with a lot of things going on, but once you get a spot, its worth it.

For off, we got there around 2 PM, so the place was busy, but we didn't even have to wait to be seated. To start off I ordered the Paleo IPA on cask. Very delicious, and a really good beer to be on cask.

We also got the sampler of course. We picked picked 6, and I think they had like 11 or 12 beers on tap to pick from. We got the Firehouse Red, Nit Wit, the rotational fruit beer (I think it was called Cherry Garcia or something), McCafferty's Ale, Daum Dunkel Weizen, and the McCleod's Ewe.

All were excellent. I finished off with a Friar's Coffee Porter. Our meals were really really good as well. As the service was friendly, and as prompt as possible given the amount of people that were there.

Overall, A must stop if you're ever up that way. Or well worth a road trip to for the experience. The atmosphere is really cool, and they have out door seating. The only thing I didn't see was a merchandise area, which is OK because I don't think they would have room for one.

So, 3 pints, a beer sampler, and 2 meals for about $40. Plus they excepted my American Homebrewers Association member card for 10% off! Nice!

Good beer. Good food. Really cool atmosphere. And good prices. Well worth a visit. And well worth a return trip.

This was my third time to visit North Country Brewing and realized that I never reviewed this place.

The decor and atmosphere is really cool, the place is decked out in all real hand carved wood, has multiple levels for dining and drinking and a back patio area with a fire pit. The quality of the beers are usually pretty decent with a decent selection of 8-12 beers on tap daily with some flagships and some brewers seasonals. The service at the bar and seating has always been very good and friendly, never had an issue. The food is good and at a good price too, instead of french fries with sandwiches, they offer a variety of items which are all decent. Overall, it is one of those places where you walk out of say "That place was pretty cool"...great vibe, decent beer.

Most of the beers here are low ABV session beers with occasional exceptions. Top range is about 6% ABV for most. Pints are about $3.50 in house and growlers fill ups for most ales is a pretty low $8. They usually have about 15 brews on tap. Always one on cask. Sometimes a beer will be on nitro tap. Great variety of brews I'm particularly impressed with the blacker beers, pale ales and fruit beers.

Food is exellent and reasonably priced. Service is hit or miss, sometimes servers don't know a lot about beer. It gets pretty packed so meals take a while sometimes and it takes a while to get a fresh brew when it's busy. I've never had to send food back to the kitchen.

Atmosphere is re-donk-ulous. All custom wood work (down to the door handles) and rustic country-feel to the place. Warm and inviting. Live music multiple times every week. The pisser in the mens room is a keg turned on its side, cut open and rigged up into a urinal. Nice touch! There are two outdoor areas. Front porch is smaller (5-6 four tops) and sorrounded by hop vines in the summer. The back patio is gorgeous. There's about 15 tables and a warm stonework fireplace. There are hop vines throughout the back patio. Both outdoor places are a great place to have a cigar and a pint.

If you can go to any special event, (villagefest, halloween party, christmas) DO IT! They usually pull some good shit outta the cellar and offer some free food and other good stuff for these occasional events. Mug club members get an extra few ounces (22oz and not 16oz) every time they buy a beer and there's a great party in the summer for them with free beer and food.

Overall good place. My only critique is better service.

Let me start off by saying that I used to frequent this establishment a couple of years ago when my wife was going to Slippery Rock University. I don't get there as often as I would like to these days, and it's a shame because the beer is very good and the food is also remarkable.

The atmosphere is very rustic with carved wood everywhere you look, and antlers abound. Neat effects in the restrooms also.

Quality of the beer is second to none. They are guaranteed to have something for every taste. From their Firehouse Red to their wonderful stouts, no beer style is left behind. Oh, and the Paleo IPA is a staple in my book.

Service is very good also. Warm and friendly, they seem to treat everyone like a regular. This is not the case in many brew pubs that I have been to. Not all the servers know their brews, but there are always people there that can answer any questions you may have.

Selection is pretty good also. I'm not sure, but I think that they have upwards of 10 beers on tap (all brewed in house) and one cask beer.

The food is hit and miss for me. Some of the food I have had is out of this world (the Ploughman...mmm), and when I venture to something that I may be unfamiliar with, sometimes I am disappointed. Sometimes not.

Overall the value is awesome for a place in PA that serves craft beer. Good prices on their beers and the beer samplers, plus growler fills for $8-$12. WOW!

A bit overly faux-rustic (it's already Western PA, for crying out loud), with an ever-rotating cast of college kid staff who, despite this, generally seem to be knowledgeable and helpful. I won't lie: the beer isn't on the same level that you can find in other craft breweries in Pennsylvania, but it's still pretty great. It's local, it's craft. The food's decent and they have some great outdoor seating, perfect for summer days when the town's not so crowded. Every town needs its own place like this.

Stopped on the way back to WV after attending an funeral in Erie, Pa. (tried to get something positive out of an all day drive)
Very nice place in a very nice town.
Very rustic style brewpub with at least 9 house beers in tap. One always on cask!
Had a sampler...all very solid and anly split an app so it is hard to get a good judgement on the food.
All in all very pleasent experience and glad we stopped.
ps. guys have to check out the old style keg converted into a urinal. Very creative and good stuff if you ask me.
