Poured an amber-red out of that attractive Natty Greene's growler. Small head the doesn't retain well. A little lace and mild carbonation.
Aromas present a good malt/hops balance. As with the aroma, you get a solid malt/hops balance, with some caramel undertones. Pleasing bitter aftertaste on the tongue.
This one is easily drinkable under just about any circumstance. Solid, solid, solid.

Portion of a 12 oz bottle poured into a Hunahpu's snifter. From notes.
A: Pours a clear amber/copper color, with a rather dinky-looking white head. Looks pretty good regardless.
S: All I pick up here is some unsweetened caramel.
T: The faintest twang of fruity esters builds to a caramel-y finish. Extremely unassuming.
M: Crisp, dry, and light. If you're going to showcase little in the way of flavor on the palate, this is how you do it.
O: Nothing wrong with this per se...it's just so bland, though. Really just one step up from BMC in my opinion.

Nice simple beer with pretty decent taste. Pours a clear lighter amber with a white head that sticks around all the way through, and leaves a little lacing. Smells simple and just drinkable. Taste is a toasted caramal malt mostly, maybe a slight choclate biscuit as it warms, but just barely, enough hops to balance but not noticeable. Mouthfeel is medium. Overall this beer is pretty good but simple, as long as you go in knowing that with this beer then I think you will be pretty happy with it.

A: Pours a crystal clear medium amber in color with some ruby red highlights and light to moderate amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a two finger tall creamy beige head that slowly reduces to a medium sized medium thick patch, a very thin film, and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Light to moderate aromas of sweet toasted malts with just a touch of nuttiness and toffee notes. There are light amounts of earthy hops as well.
T: Upfront there is a moderate amount of toasted malts with a touch of sweetness and nuttiness. Light amounts of earthy hops that contribute a light amount of bitterness which fades pretty quickly.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin...
O: Similar in flavor to an Oktoberfest in flavor and easy to drink but this one is not really anything special in my opinion.

Appearance: amber in color with a 1" head. Some light lace paints the glass.
Smell: caramel and a bit of fruity sweetness comes through.
Taste: caramel, toffee, some dark ripe fruit sweetness, and a mild earthy tone create a mild mannered amber ale.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Lightly crisp throughout.
Overall: a decent sessionable beer, but overall can be a bit boring after two pints. Nothing great, but nicely drinkable.

12 oz bottle served in a Unibroue snifter.
Pours a crystal clear brown-amber with a rather small beige head. The head mostly disappears quickly. [3.75]
M: near medium body and carbonation. Very smooth.
AROMA: Plenty of medium malt, with toasted grain and caramel.
The aroma is basically duplicated by the flavor [3.75]. Nothing fancy here but also nothing amiss, just a straightforward amber with plenty of caramel malt flavor. Not a beer geek beer, but an excellent choice to help steer newbies into craft beer.

Pours a pleasant amber color with a nice frothy, slightly off-white head. Carbonation is strong and evident in the pour.
Smell is very muted. The slightest bit of grain/caramel sweetness, but thats about it.
Taste is a little more full than the smell. Slightly sweet upfront then followed by a little bit of earthy hoppiness and ending with a hint of an adjunct-type aftertaste. Not a bad taste though, mind you, just not as rich as I might like for the style.
Mouthfeel is good for the style. Full and smooth, easy to drink. Drinks more like a lager than an ale really.
Overall this is a decent beer that is easy to drinkwhile maintaining a decent-enough flavor profile. Would be a good "conversion beer" or for good for outdoor parties/tailgating.

Clear, dark copper that verges on red with a rocky, almond head. The head dissipates quickly, leaving slight lacing and some carbonation behind.
Buckshot has a big, sweet caramel component with lightly toasted malt, honey and green tea in the background.
Well balanced between sweet and bitter, however, malt flavors dominate with nuts and caramel. The finish is pleasant, quick and mild with lots of tea flavors and background herbal notes.
A light body with vigorous carbonation that takes over with each sip. Alcohol as expected is absent.
This is a solid, sessionable beer. However, it lacks the qualities required to make it memorable. This would be a fine beer for tailgating or other outdoor activities.
I very much enjoyed this gift and think it is worth trying again.

Had this on tap poured into a pint glass. It has a nice amber appearance itch a good head a good lacing. The tast is better than average in the amber category. The mouthfeel is good ands it is well carbonated. Overall, this is a solid B to B+ beer. It's definitely worth a try.

Pours a dark caramel amber with a thin a layer of white head that quickly fades to a thin layer. The nose has notes of grains and burnt toast. The flavor has notes of sweet caramel, toasted malt, and mild earthy hops. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, smooth, and moderately carbonated.
This is a smooth beer and easily drinkable, but it's rather lacking in flavor and forgettable.

A- Amber is an appropriate color description. Minimal head and lacing. Clear as can be.
S- A pretty standard smelling sweet/malty combo. I like the smell but nothing great stands out. Don't detect any hop presence.
T- Similar to the scent it has a nice sweet/malty flavor that is pleasing but not exceptional. Don't get much hop character if at all.
M- Pretty light mouthfeel, medium carbonation. It's a smooth drinking beer.
O- Just slightly above average across the board. What I would expect of a good amber ale. Very sessionable and enjoyable.

Tap at Raleigh pub.
Pours an amber gold with a white lacing.
Nose is coppery and bready with a hint of brown sugar malt.
Flavor is mildly hoppy and again bready with some brown sugar malts and a hint of coppery undertone.
Medium body with tingly carbonation.
Decent but not stellar, never been a huge fan of the style but there are others I like better than this one. Would have it again in a pinch, but there are other beers I would have first, including at NG's.

[Best served in a Shaker glass]
The pour was a medium brown with a yellow hue and an average sized (1-2 finger) frothy off white head that diminished to a thin layer of residue and lasted throughout creating some really good spotty sticky lacing.
The aroma was of mild bread and grain malts, an herbal hop and a sweet earthy yeast with notes of toffee and caramel.
The taste was lightly sweet and malty with just a mild hint of toffee at first and then got a little hop bite with a nice caramel note at the end. The flavor lasted a decent amount of time with a slight hoppiness left at the finish.
Mouthfeel was just a bit above light in body with the texture being a bit watery and a tad dry with a lively carbonation.
Overall a nice tasty Amber ale with a nice mild hoppiness to it. But it seems that everything I try from this brewer is quite tasty.

-Appearance 4.0: Poured out with a nice half-inch head that slowly shrunk and stayed around in wispy islands. Beautiful, true amber color. This is a beer has a striking appearance.
-Smell 3.5: A very appealing caramel smell in the bouquet which is paired with a barley and slight hoppy smell. Very nice.
-Taste 4.0: Smooth up front with a slight barley taste, which quickly turns into a rich caramel and roasted grains flavor that is balanced by the alkaline flavor of the hops. Very smooth and thirst-quenching throughout. Delicious beer.
-Mouthfeel 4.0: Very smooth mouthfeel with an interesting level of carbonation that really tends to sneak up on you. Not overly carbonated at all; the brewers have achieved a solid balance.
-Overall 3.5: Very good to excellent Amber Ale, a style of which I am not really a fan. That tells you all you need to know about this beer: I don't normally like Amber Ales, but I really like this beer. Recommended.

Thin head of dark cream white, lots of larger bubbles help it dissolve down to the surface quickly, any lacing slides down the glass sides rapidly enough too. Very clean and transparent amber red color, lightly hued, only a few random bubbles scattered here and there. Sweet nose of caramel, toffee, chocolate and croissant to pastry dough flakes, does manage to mix in some bitter hops notes, green and leafy, light black tea accents, little really discernible fruit or citrus elements. Medium-bodied, foamy and on the creamy side in terms of mouth feel, here you do get peach/apricot and lemon peel along with the cut grass and mineral to metal fleck flavorings. In the end, though, it still comes back to the malty caramel and toffee stuff. Some pucker on the finish. Credible enough but not likely something I’d actively seek out. Suspect it tastes better on draft than in the bottle as here.

Auburn with a khaki head leaving decent lace.
Smell is sweet, bready.
Taste is pretty generic, some bitterness to counter the sweetness, herbal hops
Mouthfeel is light, a little watery, dry.
Drinkability is pretty good, a boring, session amber. Average all around.

Had this on tap at Chili's in Winston Salem.. Sadly in a frozen mug...
A: Nice red amber color, with about a 1/2 fingers worth of head, that stuck around and have very nice lacing all the way through the session.
S: Not getting much more that toasted malt and a light touch of floral hops.
T: OK the toasted malt is on the sweet side.. Pretty mild over all with but nicely balanced with a mild floral hops with a touch of bitterness in the finish.
M: Lighter bodied than I was expecting with a moderate carbonation... Little thinner than I was expecting.
D: I have to say it was a very hot day and this beer helped cool things down... The ABV was good and it went down very easy.. Not a bad session beer... Little thin for my taste for the style but overall not a bad little brew.

100179 printed on the back (Julian date 179- Born on June 28)
A: brown, amber, dark red with 2.5 fingers eggshell white head. Head is thick and creamy, leaves sticky lacing on the sides of glass
S: bready, caramel biscuity malts dominate the nose. A slight grassy/ floral hoppy hops.
T: huge caramel malt notes with some bready notes and a coppery taste too, a nice bitter hop presence as the beer moves the the back of the palate. Really good flavor
M: really carbonated, medium bodied, creamy head stays for a while in your mouth and then the hops cleanse your palate, really nice.

Pours a deep amber color with a big, creamy beige head. The aroma is largely like a sweet wheat bread, with a little grassy bitterness to balance. The flavor is likewise very sweetly bready, with some light caramel and herbal hops adding some depth. The medium-light body feels resinous and somewhat astringent, adding some presence to hold up the reasonably balanced flavor profile. Overall, this beer is a nice amber, but being a nice amber will only go so far.

Served on tap in a shaker pint glass in the Vintage wine shop at RDU airport in NC.
Pours a medium amber with reddish hues. Some fluffy white foam atop.
Smell and taste - notes of caramel and toffee malts. Light hop bitter at the close, to give a firm finish.
Overall a solid amber - certainly a great sirport choice amidst the land of Bud and Bud Light.

P- Thanks to my buddy Trask in NC for this one.
A- clear amber/copper color. Fluffy frothy head that leaves behind a sticky lacing.
S- floral aroma and a toffee malt like note as well. not much else going on.
T- light metallic taste with sweet malts with no hops or not much distinct flavoring.
M- copper mouthfeel with sweet malts. light bodied beer that is smooth.
D-overall, not bad. I think this beer would be good at restauratn but i wouldnt purchase a sixer of it.

A - Pours fairly clear, orange amber hue, with a one finger head.
S - Smell of floral notes, hops, mild fruit.
T- Bitter notes of the malt hit the back of the tongue, along with some mild fruit notes. Using the words "notes" a lot. If this beer was a musical note, it would be more TV on the Radio, versus the Foo Fighters. More mellow, less rocking in the taste department, but still enjoyable. Some smokey flavors are present as well.
M- Mouthfeel is good, some sharp carbonation notes, but nothing too over bearing or detracting.
O - Overall, a solid amber. Not too complex, but I would drink it again.

Pours copper with a healthy white head. Nice lacing that sticks around. Not much nose, slight malt. Taste is well balanced but very light for my tastes. There's just not much there. A little toffee and malt, with a very understated hop finish. Not horrible, easily drinkable, just not that good.

Shortly before Christmas, Natty Greene's flagship beers started showine up in bottles all over the Triangle after years of only being present at the brewery. This one pours a medium orange amber with minimal head. Nose is grassy hops and a little caramel malt. Pretty faint, though.
The taste is basic malt with a mild but lasting hop finish. A little heavy on the carbonation, particularly for the thinness of the body. Maybe a little more pale than amber here but pretty sessionable if you're so inclined.

sweet malts and caramel up front. a bit of a tangy bite near the back of the mouth, no hop presence. very sweet and pleasant.
