12 oz bottle with freshness date, poured into a SA Perfect Pint

A - Dark, opaque pour with ruby highlights when held up o the light. Thinner head with decent retention and loose lace.

S - Milk chocolate, espresso, breakfast blend coffee, dark roasted malt and just a hint of earthy hop. The aroma is complex, and very interesting.

T&M - Immediately strikes me as rather crisp for a milk stout, with a healthy dose of some earthy, somewhat spicy hopping. Dark roasted malts present a bit of ashyness and more earthy tones. Light coffee flavors and a bit of sweet chocolate. Light and crisp bitterness shows back up in the finish with residual sweetness.

O - Very interesting, with more bitterness then I expected. I was expecting more sweet flavors, but I enjoyed this overall, and really dug the dark malt and earthiness.

12oz. bottle poured into my 40oz. Brandy Snifter.

A: Black body with a cola colored hue nearing the top and a spotty khaki head with limited retention at most and large bubbles spread distantly from one another.

S: Chocolate malt with resinous hop characters. Reminds me of my homebrew shop.

T: Textbook. Papazian level textbook. Samuel Smith's level textbook. Black Patton malts, chocolate malts, roasted coffee with a splash of sweetness.

M: Goes down smooth with a slight chalkiness from hop resins. Almost creamy before that last sticky kick.

OVERALL: Duck-Rabbit's Milk Stout is so stylistically sound that I'd personally like to give every Beer Advocate that follows the Friedrich Nietzsche herding theory, and migrates towards the modern barrel-aged Russian Imperial Stout's, a bottle of this brew and tell them to go learn something about what a stout really is. Absolutely phenomenal example of the style.

Poured from a twelve inch bottle into a New Belgium globe, the appearance is a deep mahogany with a nice two finger caramel colored head, a little retention and a little lacing. The smell is nice. Chocolate is the predominant note. There are other things too, but my nose is not always able to discern what and all is there. Taste is very sweet up front and a little syruppy tasting. The finish is a nice mild dark chocolate and coffee. Not a game changer, but a nice offereing.

P: Deep dark mahogany hued dark body with a mound if creamy dense cappuccino head. Retention is decent and rests to a creamy tan coffee swirl on top leaving shinny lacing behind.

S: Bitter dark cocoa, old leather, heavy cream, milk chocolate, medium roast coffee, hints of salted cashews and an dusty earth aroma.

T/M: Sweet roasted dark malts, cherry mash, booze, milk chocolate, sweet cream, coffee, hazelnuts and dark fruits. After taste lingers roasted honey dew melon. Medium body a tad oily and moderate carbonation. Finishes wet with a dash of dryness afterwards.

O: A solid offering thy would be a great beer to keep in the fridge. The dark fruit and melon really made this different but refreshing. I like that it was not as rich and sweet as some milk stouts but it really had simple but good flavors. I will drink this again for sure.
