What can I say, I LOVE THIS PLACE. I have been to many brew pubs and have had amazing beers at most of them but it is rare that I have had a beer here that at worst I can rank very good. The balance of beers styles and as well they show other great beers from local breweries and from around the world. The atmosphere and food is outstanding as well, there's nothing like having great beer and being able to have food that is equally as good. As the last person said, if your within an hour distance you should make it a point to get there. This place is a must visit.

American Flatbread is awesome. My wife and I frequent this place fairly often. We have never had a bad experience. The bartenders have a great knowledge of the beers that they offer. The selection is wide and varied. My wife is more of a wine person and they also have a great selection of wines and have always been knowledgeable about what they offer. The food is very, very good and the New Vermont Sausage pizza is to die for.
I highly recommend this restaurant with the best beers on tap in Burlington.

I had a perfect lunch here with my friends. This was part of our VT brewery tour and is one of our favorite memories. We waited about 10 min to get a table outside. Perfect 75 degrees with a table in the shade. We ordered two flatbreads to share. One being the special for the day. We LOVED them and ate every last bit. The beer was also delicious. I guess my one complaint would be that they do not offer a sampler. I had the Burl N'Wol since I usually love all sour beers, unfortunately this one just wasn't my cup of tea. Something just wasn't matching with my tastebuds. I stole some of my friends Citizen cider which was awesome. My other friend ordered the Afternooner and could not smiling about the perfection of the moment. We had a great time and the servers were very friendly and hepful.

Went here the day after attending the Vermont Brewers Festival. Very clean, well-lit establishment. Upon entering, there is a bar area on the right and a dining area, including a fireplace on the left. There is an outdoor area as well. This place is all about variety/accomodation to different styles...a variety of music was playing.

There is also a large variety of beers. Ten of their beers were on-tap with a large variety of styles. Also, a handful or so of guest taps extended the selection. There's an extensive list of bottles of craft and imports. You're sure to find a style that fits you here.
No standard sampler is offered, but the bartender freely and enthusiastically offered samples in wine glasses. Very friendly, efficient service. The bartenders were knowledgeable about the beers.

The beers were very true-to-style and varied. Most were very tasty beers. This is certainly worth checking out and would be a regular place to go if I lived in the area. Excellent!

My girlfriend and I were staying in Burlington and were so impressed with our visit to Flatbread that we came back three nights in a row...twice for dinner and the third time just for drinks.
We spent most of our time in the very cool brick courtyard where , even though it is outdoors, doesn't allow smoking....we liked that a lot.
The pizzas were awesome...made with locally produced ingredients, like suasages, bacon , and veggies. The wait staff and bartenders were freindly and knowledgable and were generous and patient with samples. We liked that too.
The beers, from the Helles lager to the IPAs and Belgians were fantastic ! We both thought that the Belgian Dubbel was unbelievable. I loved the Saison. And for guest taps...BBC Lost Sailor on cask ! Ommegang Rouse Sour.... Not bad.
We both agreed that this is THE place for great food and beer in VT.

Update 8/09
Spent a week in Burlington and hit Flatbread 4 nights...should have gone more often....I blame that on the Alchemist. Once again, or , four more times again and again, we are SO impressed with the food,beer, atmosphere and staff.

This place is no new kid on the block when it comes to beer, the location was once home to a Carburs(around the world with beer). Flatbread has kept the tradition strong with an awesome selection of local and not so local beers.

I'm sure these guys are behind getting alot of quality beers imported to Vermont, so they can sell them.

The house brand of Zero Gravity beers are great and match well with their food offerings.

I particularly enjoy their salad with either local chevre or blue cheese crumbled on it. The flatbreads are awesome, but everyone else talks about them. It's all about the salad, man.

American Flatbread Hearth/Zero Gravity is must do.

This place was fantastic overall. I went at 3 pm and no one was there, but found out that they don't start serving food until 5 pm, so my girlfriend and I went to the VT pub and brewery across the street for appetizers. Went back at 5 and it was very crowded, but we were able to get a table within 15 minutes.

The Beer - Very good selection of Zero Gravity brews and other micros. I had the TLA IPA on cask and it was pretty good...more on the sweet citrusy side for an IPA and looked similar to a Belgian in appearance. I also had the Narconaut Black IPA which was very good...pretty much what you would expect for this style of beer. Slightly smokey, but the hops were definitely there.

The Food - We had the Revolution Flatbread Pizza...absolutely wonderful if you like mushrooms. The make and cook the pizza in their stone fireplace right in front of you and it's fabulous...a must if you're in the area.

It's been a year since I've been here, but I wrote this review shortly after coming here.

Wood-fire pizza, aka flatbread... wow! Some of the best I've had. Not only that, but Zero-gravity brewing which is attached to the restaurant had an excellent selection of beers. They had a biere de garde, a style I'd never tried before that, and it was undoubtedly one of the best beers I've ever had (I've probably tried close to 500 different beers). The atmosphere was almost a little bit medieval, what with all the bricks and wood oven, tall ceilings and big open room, and it was nice to see all the food being made fresh out in the open. We were seated at the table closest the oven, and it was hot, but we could stand it. The servers were helpful and we didn't have to wait long, even though the place was full. Burlington is a fascinating city to me, and this place cemented it as a real gem. One of the best meals/beers I've had all year.

If you read my review for Vermont Pub & Brewery, then you already know that American Flatbread is the obvious next stop. Just a few steps brings you to the front door of this very nice establishment, in reality a pizzeria that serves eight house beers and ten guest beers, many being Vermont craft brews. They also have an impressive selection of international beers in bottles.

Once inside this interesting looking building is a small bar on the right, beyond which is an old-fashioned wood stove (the smell of burning wood permeates the place), and dining room to the left; pass through the brick archway to another dining room.

Having recently lunched at Vermont Pub & Brewery, I missed the chance to sample the very tempting and tantalizing (Is there a difference?) pizza; however, I was tempted and tantalized by the excellent beers served efficiently for $3.75 a pint. My choices were the T.L.A. American IPA and an incredible Farmhouse Ale Saisson.

American Flatbread should be part of any Burlington (or Vermont) pubcrawl. There is another location in Middlebury, but the hours are weird so check ahead.

Updated 11/17/09: Just returned from a vacation in Vermont where I had another opportunity (or opportunities - I went twice) to stop by; nothing has changed; it is a great place to visit, drink great beer and dine on delicious flatbread pizza. If one had to choose one place in Burlington, this is it.

I had heard so much about this place, but had never been there before on my numerous auto treks to Montreal. I made sure that I made it there on my driving to/from Montreal last week. There was also a bonus as a cask fest began on Weds. night and I was able to pop in for same.

The place is deceptively big, as there are 2 large rooms, with the bar being on the right side of the room you enter. They also have some outdoor seating in their alley way. High ceilings and the bar looks very Irish Pubby. A clean look. The brew house is in the rear, which you pass on the way to the restrooms.

On my Monday night visit, Kirstin (sp??), was the bartender and she was a real plus to the overall experience. She gave me many sample offerings and provided answers to all of the questions I had pertaining to their own brews. A very nice young woman who is obviously a beer maven herself.

They also have an impressive bottle list with lotsa Belgian's represented.

I tried most of the Zero Gravity stuff and some of the other guest taps. My favorite ZG beers were their FruhFest, which was indeed a lighter bodied marzen, the Villier's ESB and D'Kinna Bock, all very nice. See separate reviews.

This is one of the best beer places I have been to in North America. I will be sure to get back here when I am driving through in July and August.

If you have not yet been there, get there.
