Located in the Heart of Christchurch, this is decent place that really is hopping around. The place is a favorite of us at Uni, there is most often something going on like -live music and reggae Wednesdays. The place is quite homey and well taken care of, it feels the most pubbish place I have been to here. The food is great especially if your a vegetarian- their menu is almost as long as the carnivores'. They also have all the standard and unique pizzas one could dream up. However at the end its not the cheapest night out especially if you and your mates avail yourselves of a few pitchers and pies. Overall a great place, however it fills up from dinner time onward.

Great indoor outdoor bar with a courtyard. Heaters for the more chilly night in Christchurch. It is best to got here on an offnight when it is chill and you can enjoy the natural ambiance and zenness of the place. I wish I could find a beer like thier ginger brew in the states. They brew many beers on site and all of them are worth a pint or two. The service was a bit spotty, but I was a big fat american, so I can appreciate thier apprehensiveness. All and all a great place to stop on your way to eat at the Vic and Whale or play some pool at Mickey Finn's.

The Dux De Lux is a brewpub that is geared towards vegetarian and seafood meals. I have mixed feelings about this place... It was ovreall a pretty decent brewpub, but lacking in a few key areas.

The brewpub is split into two main areas with the restaurant on one side and the bar on the other with an outdoor seating area in between. A limited number of the beers are on tap in the restaurant, but beers from the bar can be brought over. There is art for sale on the walls (too expensive).

The atmosphere is pleasant, and the day was nice, so most people were outdoors.

Though I'm used to ordering food at the bar, this seemed more like a cafeteria where you take a tray and line up and choose your salad (the main dish is later brought to the table). I didn't care for this aspect of the place. I also didn't like the lack of menus - there was a huge one on a chalkboard on the wall, but it sucks to stand around staring at the wall insteade of choosing at your table. Service was average.

The food was decent and tasty, but neither I nor my girlfriend found it to be good value for money - she had the Arokoa Salmon and I had the fish cakes.

Beer selection was above average with about 7 available, but points are definitely lost due to the fact that the "guest beer" was Tui (a bland, NZ macrolager). Beer quality was decent - I really enjoyed the Hereford Bitter and the Nor'wester Pale Ale, but the Shag Stout the Blue Duck Amber were not so hot.

Overall, worth checking out if you're in Christchurch for a decent vegetarian meal, but don't make a special trip...

Stopped in for a couple of brews while visiting Christchurch late October 2005.

Nice atmosphere, quite like an upmarket pub inside, but with a large outdoor patio area that seems to get rather busy.

On tap beer selection is great, they've got a standard range of their own beers, plus some specialty ones that seem to come and go. The quality of the beers is really very good, well worth a sample.

The food menu looks quite good, but we didn't try any ourselves.

Definately worth a look in. Wish I'd tried a few more of the range!
