I had this one in both bottles and cans. Avoid the bottles at all costs as they are a skunk factory..

I was told by a Scotsman managing a hotel/bar in Panama that this was a Corona clone.

From a can poured into a glass, the beer is a light yellow and has a quickly collapsing white head.

Aroma of grains and sulfur. Not that inviting.

Taste is semi sweet with canned corn, grass and not much else. It is light with a weak mouth feel.

My least favorite of the Panamanian beers.

This is the soda water you get at a McFastfood place with none of the syrup. No alcohol flavor but the mouthfeeling was there, you are better off with the cheapest rum and club if you want to keep your wallet chunky. I need to say more words....there.

A- Pours a clear pale yellow, has a pretty big fluffy white head that dissipates very quickly.

S- Absolutely disgusting, I was expecting the typical airy, grain aroma but instead get a big wave of skunked vegetables, corn husk, and sugar.

T- Recovers considerably in the taste department, weak grain, corn husk, faint cooked vegetables, little else, its weaker in flavor than the other Panamanian beers, so it loses there, but it doesn't taste offensive.

M- Light bodied, high carbonation, crisp, clean finish.

O- Not much to say, the weakest of the Panamanian beers, smells gross, doesn't taste that bad.

While in Panama City, Panama:

Honestly, there is not much to say about this one. Worst of the bunch between Atlas, Balboa and Panama. Very pale yellow in color, almost no smell, very weak flavor, light but not really drinkable, I didn't even finish the bottle. If in Panama, I would try all others before this one.

Like Atlas, this is a "lite" Panamanian beer at 3.8% alcohol. On a extra hot day, this beer goes down very well. I found it at a super market in El Valle and found it no better or worse that other Panamanian beers. Panama and Balboa at 4.8% alcohol are better beers and make up the majority of road side trash in this country. That was a Social comment, not an indication of the quality of the beer.

One other interesting thing about bottled beer here in Panama is that they use returnable bottles, I haven´t seen any recycleable beer bottles here, and many of the returnables never get returned anyway. (Another social comment)

Soberana, Cerveceria de Panama, Republic de Panama

Alcohol 3.8%, Maximo por Volume.

"Soberana" is an absolutely terrible name for a beer, in case you didn't know...

Clear, pale yellow pallor, huge, pure white head.

Empty, airy nose. "Smells like beer."

and tastes?...wet, faint cereal...corn husks...not much more.

And there you have it. Ends dry, with a light hop rustle on the tongue. Minor texture, flimsy flavor.

Soberana Extra Fina pours a pale golden color with a thick, fluffy white head from a clear .59 liter bottle. There is a grainy, corny, skunky aroma so typical of Latin American lagers. Very light bodied, corn and grain dominate the taste, which can be somewhat harsh. Somewhat astringent. Not a particularly good beer of it's type.

this beer has no essence, tastes like water, at the end there's no after taste feeling, smells like water (nothing),
cristal clear see-trough-glass appearance.
i don't know anybody that actually likes this beers, tastes like corn somewhere down the road.
in the end out of the 7panamenian beers this for me is the last one in its category.

This is the other SOberana Beer I told you. IT tastes a little more bad, and it is not that drinkablelike the other Extra Fina one, I guess the name of the other says everything. BUt anyway, you can nottice the difference between the two of them. One is more conry than the other. BUt similar in alcohol.

Where's the beer. Pale yellow color with little head. Lots of carbonation bubbles. There is no aroma. I swear I can not smell anything the faintest amount of grain. The taste is about the same. Water like flavor with a slight bitter aftertaste. Not much of a beer. It is just a hot weather beer that is cheap.

I think this was my least favorite of the Panamanian beers and I believe I tried them all.
Everything about it is watery. Pale in color, little or no bubbles, watered down taste. Aroma was of my glass.
I did like others I tried...my joke when traveling was "Who would trust a beer with Sober in the name?"

Refreshing brew, lightly hopped, with nice flavor. Tastes a bit like Corona. A worthy effort considering it is a mass-produced beer.
