Pretty sure this beer is a duplicate entry of the l'Abbatiale de St. Amand Blonde, but this name more closely matches the bottle I have. Best by Nov. 3, 2011. Ingredients listed

A-First gusher I've had in ages...half of it ended up on my counter. Cloudy golden amber w/lots of carbonation, some floaties.

S-Belgian yeast with bits of apricot, sourness, berries.

T-Sour with apricot, flat muted grain profile. Aftertaste is slightly sour with touch of hops. Definitely contaminated.

M-Sour dry mouthfeel, off taste. Extreme carbonation.

D-Sink beer. Obviously this one got through QC, but there are some good qualities that are apparent despite the problem, which merit a second try.

A: Clouded with sediment the brew pours a dull gold, with a thick white head. The foamy bubble cling on to the sides of the glass and leave sediment behind.

S: Yeasty sweet bread front with lemon rind and juniper notes. After leaving the brew sit for about 20 mins it got a skunkiness which me and the brew-buddy both thought interfered with the initial cool smell.

T: Sweet yeasty biscuits and hints of dried citrus rinds. Juniper flavour came through while the beer was cooler. Good amount of malts that balance out the herbaceous juniper. As triples go - I find this one clear and crisp, that might be the herbs and citrus combined.

M: Priks on the tongue from a solid amount of carbonation, and presents a little thinner that I expect from a triple.

O: This beer started out better than it finished. Cold, it was light and lemony. As we drank through it developed a skunkiness that overwhelmed the subtle scent and taste. After taste even less impressive than on the way down. Too bad, this one is just not one that manages to develop as it breaths. I really wanted to love this beer on account of the great packaging (ceramic corked bootle -serious cool factor) but it just doesn't have the smell or taste that I hoped for.

Pours very carbonated, big head that fades with little lacing. Dark clear gold color.

Smells sweet and malty. Biscuity and kind of spicy. A touch of orange peel.

Deep, dry grahm cracker malt flavor at first. A little sweet orange flavor comes in, but it's pushed back again by a very solid malty backbone. There's a little herbal flavor maybe from hops and some medicinal Belgian stuff going on from the yeast. It's all fairly balanced.

To me this beer feels overcarbonated. It started foaming out the bottle when I opened it, although it was under control when I poured it. But when it hits the tongue it's much too prickly. Too bad because otherwise I think it would come through, it's a little thick and chewy which is actually probably mitigated by the carbonation. Not a heavy beer, but what's going on is too much.

Not quite clean enough for a biere de garde. A little busy, but on its own merits it's a good beer still. I'd like to see a little more spice too. For a Belgian pale ale this would get a B+.

0.75cl Cork and caged brown bottle poured slowly into three different glases: 2 clear bodies the last somewhat cloudy due to the sediment getting out of the bottle into that glass. The beer was blonde with just a thin showing for a head.

I wasn't overly keen on this beer to be honest, it offered little in the way of smell or flavour. You could clearly pick up Belgian style yeastiness in both aroma and taste but otherwise not much of anything: even the alcohol content seemed subdued.

Freshness in the nose, with a slight hop but good quality. The palate still has an entry pungent, slightly buttery aftertaste with a slightly bitter alcoholic with a somewhat unusual probably due to the presence of juniper berries as well as an aftertaste of roasted corn. Outside the finish a bit strange, we must admit that the addition of juniper is somewhat anecdotal.

A: Pale yellow with a haze to it. Head was super thick and chunky with amazing retention. There is even chunks of sediment in the head.

S: Belgian yeast and dried fruits, very cool smelling.

T: Wow it is something else, very smooth and pale. The juniper berries make this beer cool the mouth and leave a mintiness. There is a slight sour yeast flavor and faint sweet malts.

M: Light body, very dry with good carbonation and an evaporating coolness that follows.

D: This is an exceptional beer, never had anything like it.
