Ah, Mardi Gras! Was in the FrenchQtr walking to Faulkner's books store and thought, what the hell...

Very cool layout, with heavy wood all over, massive brew tanks and other equipment within patron's view, and easy on the brewerania, so pretty easy on the eyes and not touristy at all. Upstairs balcony was pretty cool, and a jazz band in the corner. Not shabby, On to the beer...

Try the sampler, as nothing here will razzledazzle, but it drinks I suppose. German influenced (sorry HopHeads!) with a Pils, Red/Marzen, Weiss, Brown, and Bock and maybe another I'm missing, but point being the beer is simply so/so. Not atrocious or anything, but if you're a German-style nut this won't cut it for you and you won't have the same beer twice. So again, snag a sampler with a meal.

Food was great though, with the Brie and French bread app coming with grapes on the vine; all before a very tasty brisket as an entree. Service was prompt, courteous, and attentive without being obtrusive.

This is a beer blog website though, so frankly don't go out of your way to hit this spot, but if shopping in the area and would like a nice bite and some suds drop on in and support a local brewery.

Pretty nice looking place, old brewhouse behind the bar, both times we visited they were brewing so that was pretty neat. Five beers on tap, all German styles; pils, weiss, Vienna, schwartz and maibock. Tried all of them, very good quality. Pilsner was my favourite, light but with a nice hop character. Didn't really eat, just had some oyster. We litteraly stayed right next door, so this was a no brainer for us to visit. If you happen upon this place check it out.

Stumbled upon this beer joint on our first night in New Orleans, walking towards dba. Decided to stop in after hearing some cool jazz from the street.

Only five beers on tap: Pilsner, Weiss, Black Forest, Red Stallion, Special Brew (Dunkelweiss).

I tried the dunkelweiss and the Stallion and went for a Jack&Coke. The wife chose the stallion and got a big huge pint. Not a bad beer, but far from great. Metallic taste. I wouldn't want to drink it!

The place offers two floors and is spacious; we sat at the second floor bar and enjoyed a chill time listening to the jazz band downstairs.

Service was good but I'm not sure our bartender cared much for beer... or people, for that matter. Anyways, we had a good time and I would consider returning even though I found the beer to be below average.

This was our first stop in NOLA. Nice setup with multiple floors, old school decor, a patio and a takeout window.

They had six beers when I was there, including a seasonal Oktoberfest. A menu showcase gave some small notes and the waitress seemed to know a little. Sitting outside on a busy section of the French Quarter was fun as well.

The beer was ok, for the bad the lager was offensively light (going after your BMC apparently) and the Black Forest jumbled. That said the Weiss was unfiltered with nice sweetness and the Oktoberfest was true to flavor. The Amber was forgettable. Honestly, the Weiss is the only beer I would recommend.

Food was ok, I had a Pork Po'Boy. The flavors were really good but it wasn't quite cooked enough. Great fries though. My wife had a gumbo that seemed really good and true to the local flavors.

No complaints on service, our waitress was really nice. I though the prices were reasonable, you are in a touristy area. Come for happy hour.

Overall, I think if you have time this is worth a stop. It's a nice location and everything is passable, I love to support any local brewpub if I can. That said, it is by no means a must-do and you can find great beer (Abita, NOLA, etc.) in just about any bar as this city is good about promoting locals. Your call.

I would have to agree with previous reviews that at best this place in just kinda average. The building and setup is what you would expect for NOLA, complete with an outside take out window. I ordered a sample flight and they only information the server was able to offer was which of the five was their best seller. Not over helpful but I figured out as the flight I received was at best average in flavor and appearance for a BrewPub.

Food was great, large portions and defiantly highlighted some of the local flavors. The most surprising part came with the bill. Two people, a flight and two beers, and dinner was well over one hundred dollars. A little steep even for the area its located in. However if I was back and NOLA I would probably stop back just to try their seasonal.

What to say about Crescent City Brewhouse... ? It's as you might expect. It has the look and feel of a chain restaurant, and yet it's not a chain. It's nicely done, but it's clearly well worn (opened in '91). The service is good, the food is good, and the beer is good - but none of it is REALLY good. It kind of just is. It serves the masses. You know the kind of place. There's a lot of seafood (which is nice, and expected in NOLA), but there are also the required burgers, chicken sandwiches, and steaks. You get a taste of the city, but somehow it's not quite as authentic as what's right outside of those doors you just came in. And the vibe is the same.

Moving forward, what we're really interested in here is the beer. Good. Very good. Maybe even better when we're talking about the seasonals and brewer's selections. I immensely enjoyed an IPA although the bartender couldn't tell me a word about it... "It's just an IPA, we do them all the time". 4 regulars including a Pils, a Vienna, a Dark Munich and a Weiss.

Overall, I'd say if you're in the city you kind of have to go. It's not like visiting "Cheers" in Boston... it's authentic, and far more interesting than just another Gordon Biersch.

After 3 days viewing the must see sights in NOLA, i was in search for a little splash of the local brew pub culture. Atmosphere is fairly nice, old, worn interior with plenty of space for drinkers and diners. Dark stained wood is the predominant feature of much of the place, including the bar. Nice open front building letting in a wonderful breeze off the Mississippi the day we were there. I little Jazz trio warming up in the front corner. Brewing equipment exposed behind the bar on multiple levels. A little raw bar at the front corner of the bar where you can watch them schuck oysters all night.

6 beers available at the time. Nothing stand out, but nothing executed horribly. Light bodied, lightly hopped beers seem popular down here, i guess its refreshing in the horrible humidity and heat in the summer.

Service was friendly, slightly inattentive even during a slow late afternoon/early evening. Prices were decent.

Not much else going on down this way in terms of brew pubs, except the corporate feeling Gordon Biersch, would gladly come back for a few drinks and some grub.

There are so many fantastic places to eat and drink in New Orleans that I have to review this place keeping in mind what I have as far as selection back home in Mississippi.

The restaurant is fun and relaxed with interesting artwork for sale along the walls and art glass hanging from the ceiling. Copper brewery equipment is visible behind the bar.

Our server was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about their beer. I had the Black Forest which was fair. All beer is served in large pilsner glasses. Food was very good. Menu had some interesting adaptations of standard pub food. Good lunch or snack place but better options in N.O. for dinner. Beer is o.k. and really one of the only beer joints in the Quarter.

Stopped in here with the wife while in town for a friends wedding. I know it's a party town, but the lack of good beer establishments is scary! Moving on....we arrived here for a late lunch early dinner. The place wasn't very crowded at all and we were seated immediately. Nice, comfy, rustic feel here. Lots of local artists works cover the walls and is available for purchase. Our server was quick, friendly, and attentive. We both ordered the chicken rigatoni. The food came super fast and was delicious! The beer (only 5 were on-tap during this visit) was average. Nothing stood out, but what I had wasn't horrible. You're in a touristy area, so expect those prices. Overall, not a bad place. I just wish they had more than basic offerings on their beer menu.

Crescent City to me is a one and done place. No I did not eat there, so the food may be good. The place is spacious and Cajun rustic. It is not the appearance of Crescent City that is off. That is actually inviting and intriguing. It has the feel of an old place that has been there a while with a lot of culture. It is the type of place you are hoping is good so you can linger there longer. The location is actually fairly good as well. Perfect on Decatar, away from the crowds of Bourbon. The service here was not all that great. The bar had about ten people around it. Most looked like tourists not locals. Despite the relatively sparse crowd, it took the bar tender a good ten minutes of standing by the bar to see if we wanted something. The staff seemed more intent on chatting with themselves then offering service despite it being 8 at night. Also we sampled about three of their five beers. The bock and the red were just not that great. Plus, like most of the menu, the beers were pricey. There are so many great options for food and drink in New Orleans. On a short trip, there are way better options a block or two away.
