About unique as you can get. It is converted out of an old hardware store and most of the brewery (including the stunning bar) is handcrafted. In putting this place together they managed to blend class with an eclectic mix of furniture and decorating that creates a unique atmosphere and appearance.

There were a lot of beers on tap and they also had about 20 different beers in bottles available. The most notable was a set of 13 Imperial beers with varying degrees of craziness including Peaches and Cream and a Bloody Mary Beer.

The food menu seemed a little uninviting as I am a plain eater. That said everything I tried was exceptional. I especially liked the Artichoke Pesto Dip, the Pizzas and the soups. I belive they are in transition a little right now and are expanding the kitchens out later in the year.

The beers are great and what a variety. There are the favorite IPA's of course but then a varying mix of all sorts of beers. A good one was the Soft Parade which was a fruity beer that finished a little dry like champagne. There was no wine or liqour which was a small problem with some people in the party although everyone found something they liked.

The brewery is somewhat divided into two halves. The pub side and the stage. The stage side is raised on a beautiful stone stage that gives great accoustics throughout the building. There seems to be live bands most weekends and a lot of weeknights in the summer.

A community feel that sucked out my stress out of me. I want to be there now!

My husband and I went to Short's for the second time recently and it was wonderful. We sampled all the beers - Soft Parade and Huma Lupa were the tops but they also had some interesting mixes in their Pistachio Cream and Key Lime Pie (a bit too sweet). The food was delicious and service great - we loved the honey mustard sauce and our server brought us some to take home with no charge. We were there in the early afternoon for lunch, so the atmosphere was fairly quiet but I imagine it's a bit louder/exciting when a band is performing.

Overall, the beer was great, the service was great and the food was great which makes this one of my favorite breweries in the state.

I stand by my statement that Michigan has outstanding breweries. Short's is no different. A little off the beaten path, but definately worth the trip. My girlfriend and I were on vacation in Traverse City and took the 45 minute drive to visit Short's.

We walked in around 4:00 on a Thursday afternoon and it was pretty empty. They have a walk up counter for you to place your order. I went up planning to order my usual Huma Lupa, but the bartender offered up some samples (free) of other beers she thought I might like. One of them was Kind Ale which I thought was a phenomanal beer. I ordered a pint of that while I perused the other options. Next was a sampler including Huma Bourbon, key lime, and some other ones. Short's is never shy about trying unique beers. not all of them hit, but more often than not, I like what they do.

If you are looking for a large menu, don't. They are limited to sandwhiches, salads, and pizza. I had a sandhwhich and it was very good. Lets face it though...you come here for the beer.

The service was first rate. From the knowledgeable and very friendly bartenders, to the attentive busstaff who was always around to clean up the table, to the manager who took us through for a tour of the brewery. We felt welcome.

The prices are also very reasonable with most pints available for $3. A little more for premium pours.

We left as the brewery got pretty busy towards the evening hours. I left with a full belly, drank some very good beers, and had a great time. Even left with t-shirts and a few 6 packs for home.

I was very impressed on all fronts.

On vacation in upper Michigan, so where does one go for their birthday...Short's Brew Pub of course. The beer here is world class. the Huma Lupa Ipa, is one of the best IPA's I've ever had. Just an oustanding selection of original beers. The service was top notch as well. The waitress actualy took our names and remembered them the entire time, even though she had to have been waiting on 20 other guests. The food, although deli-style, and limited on the menu, was great. My wife thought their spinach dip was the best she's ever had. We left just before the live music began, but all in all just an extra special B-day present from the wife. If you are anywhere close to this place, you MUST go, fantastic! Skal.

Stopped in on a summer evening. Heard many great things about Shorts and hoped it was worth it, as it was quite an adventure getting there. Place had a nice old town feel, nothing artsy but had the character of an older brewpub. Did a flight of beers and was impressed by the offerings, then proceeded to buy one each of all the bombers and one sixer each of all the beers I had not gotten yet down state. Considering, service was great, and considering the boldness of the brewery selection would be almost impossible to not be great. I would visit again and recommend to a friend. Perfect Score!

What great brewpub!! To my mind, they have got it all going on here- a nice, laid back atmosphere with great decor, a genuinely friendly and cheerful staff, and an amazing selection of outstanding brews.

From beers like their Pineapple Pilsner, Turtle Stout, and Raisin Apollo, I was bedazzled by the incredible range of flavors to be experienced under one roof. So much so, that i bought a sixer of the Woodmaster (one of the few ones i havent had yet), plus a t-shirt, and came back the following day for a growler of Uber Guber to savor back home as well. I was also impressed (but not surprised) by the number of people who were also enjoying themselves on a Sunday evening (near closing time, at that!).

If you live anywhere in Michigan (or anywhere, for that matter), i would highly recommend that you wow yourself with a visit to this fantastic brewpub. I know if i lived closer, i'd practically live there :) Massive props go out to Brian for the tour and humbling generosity!!!

"May the Short's be with you!"

Atmosphere is great and family friendly which is important to me, our
kids love going to shorts as much as we do.

Quality is top notch, food ,beer, merchandise, all of it is great

Service is great, they make you feel like a local

Selection speaks for itself, at least 20 beers on tap and many great
limited and pub only brews

Food is the best I've ever had at a brewery, so many great choices

Shorts has made Bellaire a destination, I will continue to visit, and
each time i visit is better than the last. Life is Shorts drink it while your here!
