This is a novelty brew. Does it taste like lime? Sure. Does it taste like keylime pie? No. I don't know if that would make it any better. My sense of smell was somewhat diminished due to allergies during tasting but two of my lady friends confirmed a strong scent of white vinegar, it was off putting.
I didn't mind the taste. It wasn't a drain pour but it isn't something I'll want to drink again. I've heard good things about Shorts and I was sad I couldn't stop in the last time I was in northern michigan on a golf trip but this beer didn't rep them well (although I didn't expect it to).

On tap at Old Chicago. Pours a soft amber color with a weird, olive-green tint to it - not heavy, but a little "sickly" looking. Translucent with a bit of haze in the middle. Head nearly nonexistent, except for a small, white ring around the edge of the beer, possibly due to the pour, however. Aroma definitely had some light grahama cracker, alongside toasted caramel from the malt. Lime? Yeah, it's there. Or, something is, rather. The aroma doesn't give off immediate sensors of "lime", but SOME kind of fruitiness that seems more flat and sweet instead of tart and vibrant. Zesty, but not exceedingly so.
The taste is.... strange, to say the least. Starts off with a bit of citrus flavor; lime and lemon - again, moreover it's just sweet and kind of dull, not at all tart or sour like lambics, wild ales, or some other fruit beers. Bread from the malt, as well as an even lighter presence of caramel, adds a bit to the sweetness. Lack of a bitter counterpoint makes this beer a little lopsided and almost too sweet. After a while, the flavors grow, but not exactly in a good way. By the end of this one, things get a little tiring. Sweet, light citrus finish with little hints of malt. Thin body with a heavy carbonation handle.
This beer was interesting, and I'm glad to try it. And it wouldn't be bad in 4-oz samples. But an entire pint was a little much. Good at first, then it turned into "meh". I feel that with some tweaks, this could turn into a damn good beer. Right now, though, only slightly above average.

Bottle shared by Sammy, 12oz into a tulip.
Dirty darker orange, offwhite head without any retention or lace. Nose has artificial lime notes (extract?), almost some minty mouthwash character as well. Everything else appears to be muddled together. Taste has more artificial lime notes, minimal malt character (although it's perhaps a bit crackery), leafy and spruce notes I think. Thin body, low carbonation. Almost unpalatable, couldn't finish my sample.
