Notes:
Brewed with 40% more ingredients to bump any ordinary pilsner to an imperial level. We hop the kettle four times, using a good amount of Amarillo hops to balance the malty sweetness from the pilsen malt and lots of flaked maze. At 7.5% ABV and 50 Bittering Units, this beer is still very quaffable and packed full of flavor thanks to the help of our house American lager yeast. This beer was brewed upon the request of every ones favorite beer tender, Jeremy the curl VanSice

Poured from 12oz bottle. Many thanks to gratefulbeerhead for this beer!
A- Pours a pale golden yellow color. One and a half finger white head shows light retention. Light streaks of lace left on the glass.
S- I could pick up on bready pils malts, grain, and high alcohol in the front of the nose right off the bat. The alcohol mixes well with floral hops but lends to a scent that I was not the biggest fan of. The ending showed off some wet grain and lots of alcohol. Hints of tropical fruit linger in the ending as well but are cut off by the alcohol.
T- Floral hops in the front with a nice dose of grain. Middle of the beer shows off a big bready pils malt flavor. There is grassy note to the ending along with more bready malts. Grain and alcohol hit hte enidng of the beer with a trailing floral hop behind it. Plain and simple but to the point and big!
M- Medium heavy mouthfeel. Carbonation was good for the style. Huge amounts of grain and bready malts are left on the palate along with a light sulfer like taste. Aftertaste is lots of warming alcohol, hints of hops, and a boatload of pils malt. Flavors were bold at times but very well balanced. No off flavors when sipping this one. Heavy alcohol drying on the palate with this one!
O- This beer kicked my ass which I told Andrew (betsona) when we were drinking it. The malts were a little over the top at times but nicely done. The style itself was a little messy at times but then again I never realized why a lot of brewers are doing this as a style. Not a typical Short's beer and therefore I don't know how I really feel about it.

Appearance: cloudy lemon skin body with a big white head that has some staying power and tons of lacing on the glass. They use plenty of yeast to make this Imperial Pils so there is some sediment on the bottom of the bottle. If it pours clear you did not get the yeast off the bottom of the bottle, then you are missing some of the flavor.
Aroma: sweet harvest grain biscuit, light lemon meat hoppy tone at first and builds a bit as it warms up
Flavors and Mouthfeel: crisp grains on the tip of the tongue, then some light citrus spice on the mid and finish, dusty yeast in the mix, the aftertaste is dry and slightly piney when cold and a course grind black pepper as it warms, zesty feel to the hops overall, fine carbonation

12oz. bottle poured into a tulip.
(A)- Pours a clear yellow color. Some white froth & lace.
(S)- A grainy, almost zesty citrus spice. Bits of biscuit-like yeast.
(T)- A sharp zesty grain with a bit of grassy citrus and mild to subtle yeast.
(M)- A good carbonation level and balance. Definitely a sharp grainy feel, but done well with soft yeast notes to help balance it out.
(O)- Overall, I get how this is a pilsner, but almost comes off like a saison to me.

Bottle to Footed Pilsner
12oz
2012 Bottling
Thanks to ErikKoppin
App- A semi clear yellow with some gold streaks around the outsides. A nice and puffy 1" head that fell slowly with a good amount of cling.
Smell- The imperial version of this one is quite unique. It smells like a blend of a triple and a pilsner. Peppery, lemon, malts. Pils malts with a bit of hops comes on a large pull.
Taste- So when the mix of flavors on the tastes all blends together. The pilsner malts come out and even a west coast bitter IPA flavor comes out. Small hops with a good bitter bite. Probably 1st pilsner ive truly enjoyed.
Mouth- A lighter medium body with semi bubbly medium carbonation. Little bit of butter and hops. Could use some work on the flavors on the finish.
Drink- I really enjoyed this. The balance was there with a good thick malt balance with a bit of spicy lemon and hops. A little bitter but works overall.

Jimmy the Curl is a rad nickname and even cooler that it is memorialized on a beer. Cheers to the Curl, now it's time to dive in.
A - pours a filtered, clear straw yellow color without much of a head on; however, nice lacing is left down the side of the glass
S - nose is sweet grainy malts, sweet; a nice amount of grassy and citrusy and fruity amarillo hops are also present.
T - the Curl opens up with fruity hoppy flavors. These move on to some of the grainy pilsner flavors that were expected. However, these were pushed aside by more of the amarillo hop flavors which finish it off; there is also a touch of spiciness and a modicum of bubblegum in the mix too.
M - mouth is full and smooth
D - really good double pilsner here...I was pleasantly surprised by this one. The amarillo hops were bold enough to provide a really nice balance to the grain malts. I love this hop and was glad to see it in this beer. Great beer, the best double pilsner I have tried so far.

12oz bottled poured in SA glass.
Clear, pale, straw colored elixir, one finger white head settles to thin rim as the tasting progresses. Plenty of lacing along the sides.
Mild malt fragrance, lemon zest, grass.
The hops make their presence known as smooth bitterness caresses the buds. The pale malt meets in the middle, but is overwhelmed by the delicious hops.
Medium body, well carbonated, oily aftertaste.
This is a nice double pilsner, well hopped and flavorful.
