Style | ABV
American IPA |  6.90% ABV

Availability: Year-round. bottle (498), on-tap (74), growler (6)

Notes:
Named after the hop flower Humulus Lupulus, this India Pale Ale style beer has enormous amounts of hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. With a very complex malt bill, flavors seem to meld with the hops to balance this ale and provide a ridiculous urge to sample more.

One of the better IPAs I've ever had.

Picked it up in Michigan since I don't get them in Illinois. No expiration date found on the bottle.

Not much malt in the aroma (no complaints there). Surprisingly low hops there, but still smells wonderful.

Beautiful amber color. Low head, minimal lacing. Very clear.

Great bitterness-not overly so like some IPAs. Must be some great malt backing it up. Lingering bitter aftertaste. Finishes dry, which I like.

Overall, I really like this beer. I think it's a great representation of the American IPA style. I would definitely buy it again.

Appearance: a orange with yellowish hues. pretty hazy. a small white head that fades fairly slowly

Smell: strong grapefruit bitterness. fairly strong sweet and bitter contrast

Taste: again with the strong grapefruit. quite bitter, but fairly juicy.

Mouthfeel: very bitter and sticky. the juiciness falls away

Overall: a good juicy hop ipa. not the most refreshing ipa but has a good lasting taste

Appearance: Huma pours an amber color with two fingers of white head. Keeps light retention.

Smell: The strong hop content brings a citrus smell, with grapefruit perhaps standing out. There’s also a light floral and earthy presence there.

Taste: The taste brings a full, big hop presence. The hops really stand out. Grapefruit, maybe some raisin, and a lot of soapy, crisp bitterness are the key notes here. There’s a good balance of light caramel malts in the background, but the crisp, fresh, bitter, and clean hops are what really stand out. And boy, do they ever.

Mouthfeel: The carbonation is relatively high, but not too much so. The beer has a full, but not thick, feel.

Overall: This was an excellent, even top-notch, example of an American IPA. One of the best I’ve had, in fact. For the hop fan, this is gonna be a great choice anytime.

This is a beer for people who love the bitter bite of hops. There's a bit of malt and sweetness down low, but it can't compete with the bitterness.

If you like the hops to dominate your beer experience, and you're an IPA fan, I recommend this. It's one of my favorite beers for summer. It's on my exceptional beer list.

I'd go again.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance is a bright amber hue, with a small amount of head that quickly dissipates. Great lacing on the side of the glass though.

Smell is strong, and dominated by pine and earth notes. Some sweetness as well.

Taste is very bitter, with the hop flavors (mostly pine, but some citrus as well) right at the center of it all. But there is a definitely some corresponding sweetness from the malts. I'm not 100% convinced this is an ideal balance, but if you love hops this beer is perfect.

Mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied, with lots of carbonation. The bitterness lingers.

Overall a solid IPA. The hop flavors are subtle, and less dominant than Founders Centennial IPA. But as the name and artwork suggest, the hop bitterness is the main attraction.
