Enjoyed in a pilsner glass
A: pours a clear honey golden color with a small amount of carbonation bubbles, pours with a very aggressive head which is creamy white and quite frothy like the head on a latte, lingers nicely and leaves a very nice amount of lacing
S: and interesting yet subdued scent of floral hops as well as a sort of sweet grass like note which i pick up at the very tail end
T: its an overall interesting taste, more of the Czech style than the German style IMO due to the grassy character and slight bitterness, pretty fresh but has a slight alcohol tinge at the end, there is also another element ive noted up front which i cant quite place but it is definitely familiar
M: drinks rather thickly and with a slight alcohol burn at the end, overall smooth enough though
O: its decent enough but definitely not the best imperial or even regular pilsner for that matter that ive ever had, most of the notes are subdued, pretty much what ive come to expect from magic hat, an ok beer but nothing that really pops out at you

On-tap 5/26/2013 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub in Pawtucket, RI, served in a tulip glass.
A: The beer is a bright gold color, with a short dense off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is faint but contains lager yeast, citrus, caramelized malts and some hops.
T: The taste starts out with sweet flavors of citrus and caramel. Then some breadiness comes in from lager yeast and a thin malt character. The hops presence starts out weak but strengthens greatly as you continue to drink the beer and creates a good balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy.
M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, good kick, good representation of style, it’s a solid beer worth drinking for a while but there are better alternatives within the style.

Bought from the Artifactory (the weekend before all the West Sixth nonsense, which definitely puts me off)
A - Light golden straw with a huge 3 finger head that quickly dissipated. Great lacing.
S - Somewhat tart and sour like a classic pilsner. Some faint citrus and hops.
T - Punch in the mouth for a pils. Bitter finish w/ some hops. Lingering aftertaste.
M - Light/medium bodied. Faint carbonation across palate. Smooth and not sticky at all.
O - Meh, nothing fantastic about this. Makes me want to try other Imperial Pilsners tho. Definitely got better as it warmed.

Magic Hat Brewing Company - Humdinger Series: Over The Pils
Look - Pours clear golden slight copper with a big bubbly head that dissipates quickly and leaves abundant lacing.
Smell - Pilsner (tart & sour) characteristics with a little bit of deeper malt. Faint citrus hops.
Taste - The ballsiest pils I have ever had. Tang sharp, lemon sour, and on center stage are grassy bitter hops, packs a punch!
Mouthfeel - Slightly warm in the throat and slightly sticky. Leaves a sour bitter towards the back of the throat. Pretty boozy. Light/medium body, faintly carbonated, decent drinkability.
Overall - Interesting style, I did enjoy the bite aspect. I will have to try others of this style to understand more about it. This brew enhances tremendously with warmth so take a sip or two and let it sit for 10-15 if you can.

Pretty golden body with a creamy finger of head.
Nose is grassy hops with a distinctly sweet note.
Flavor starts out sweet, then sort of spreads it around a bit. Grassy hops, candi sugar, tart lemon, clean finish.
Mouthfeel has a bit of the old "Sweet-Tart" quality to it. Leaves a tingle on the tongue.
Overall, pretty good, but too sweet. I long for an overhopped Imperial Pils with a Pliny-like understated malt body. Maybe someday I'll brew one.
