Served on-tap at Slainte in Naugatuck, Conn.

A: Poured a slightly swirly and hazy mix of orange-copper and golden-yellow with a small, creamy head of foam.

S: You can definitely smell the apricots and pears in this brew. Rich, malted fruit smell.

T: Taste is mostly malt, with that distinct buttered apricot taste you get from many fruit/veggie beers. However, the hops have a pretty nice drying effect in the finish, adding soime character to the sweet fruits.

M: Mouthfeel is a little clingy, but it's light-medium bodied and not astringent.

D: The taste of this one would get to me, but it's not a bad choice. The ABV is tame enough for you to session it, if you can withstand the flavor. Might be a good first foray for a Magic Hat stranger.

I used to knock #9 a lot when I was in college, and I avoided it for a long time, even up until this tasting. I wish it weren't Magic Hat's default brew for variety pack purposes, but you could do a lot worse for the style. (re: Ithica Apricot Wheat)

Appearance- copper color, 1/2 inch head, nice lacing

Smell- malt, hops, for a fruit beer, I didn't smell any fruit at all. I thought it was a pale ale.

Taste- light hops and malt flavor

Mouthfeel- medium bodied

Drinkability- It was ok but it certainly didn't taste like a fruit beer. I thought it was a pale ale.

Had this from a mixed pack that my wife bought.
Looks hazy.
Smells like a dry apricot.
Flat and uninteresting flavor and mouthfeel.

I thought id give this a try since my wife seems to like it. Maybe her review will balance out my glaringly bad review.

Is the #9 in reference to how many attempts it took for them to get to this flavor profile? Maybe they should have a #10. Just sayin.
