The result of mystical exhortation and strange portents in the sky, Humble Patience was complex without being heavy...a marriage of many riches. An Irish-Style, deep-ruby Red Ale with tantalizing layers of flavor.

Presentation: On tap at Cambridge Commons (Cambridge, MA). Served in a "Humble Patience" English-style pint glass.
Appearance: Deep ruby red to brown with a 2-finger thick off-white nirto-creamy head that sticks to the glass.
Smell: Fairly clean nose with hop and fruit aromas. I swear I can pick up very faint anise & liquorice smells too.
Taste: First taste is that of any other nitro'd English/Irish-style ale (Caffery's comes to mind). Silky smooth mouthfeel with a light even sweetness, followed by lightly toasted malts, watery grape, earth, wood and more fruity characters. Roasted malt flavours fall in the corners of the palate. Bitterness is somewhat citrusy, but not overwhelming, smooth and well-rounded. It's also quite raw in texture (bitty) and consumes the palate in its uniqueness -- leafy coating throughout the mouth with a gentle astringency (if such a thing).
Notes: A very smooth and easy drinking ale. It's obvious that Magic Hat is going after the nitro UK import market, and this is a hell of a contender. The "Never Premature" slogan on the pint glass notes its slow pouring nitro birth.

Catch up rating form notes, 2012: Bottle from my brother-in-law (this is back in the day when Magic hat was a big deal). Medium dark amber, small foamy head. Aroma is malty, slightly ashy, roasty malts. Taste is more of the malts, not sweet, but nutty and dry. Decent consistency and feel.
