I had the "six shooter sampler" at Silver City Restaurant and Brewery. This was one of the six. For whatever reason (small servings, straight glasses, environment, etc.) detecting the smells of these beers was difficult. Also, the heads had receded by the time the waitress brought the glasses to the table, decreasing my enjoyment of the appearance. With all of this in mind . . .
A - mostly clear dark yellow; lots of carbonation bubbles
S - hops, glorious hops! (the cascade stand out in particular)
T - light malt flavor hides behind a tasty blend of floral hops; hint of citrus; dry, hoppy finish
M - medium body; high carbonation
O – nice IPA!

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a yellow-orange color with a white head. The aroma is full of grain and some grass from the hops. The flavor is similar, with some toffee and grain notes, and a hint of grass from the hops. I get a little bit of citrus in the flavor, but not too much. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

A- nice frothy white head that sticks around for a while. Hazy orange body that looks exactly like this fall day
S- slight hopsbut I am afraid it's mostly malt... looking not fresh
No bottle date either
T-little bit of hop bitterness but not much else really there. Decent beer though
M-mesoum body and smooth
O- solid beer. Thank god the nose didn't really translate

Indianola Pale Ale - not Indianola IPA as stated. But I nitpick.
Pours a beautiful foggy amber with nice head that dissipates quickly. Leaves a nice layer of foam typical of IPA's. Lace is spotty to non-existent.
Aroma - Malt sweetness - nothing special.
Taste is well balanced and a little sweet. Hops present just enough to make their presence known. I note a little lemon flavor. Very nice.
Overall? A very easy drinker. Polished off the bomber before I realized it. Could easily have another.
I think I will.

Reviewed on 1/16/2010. Bottle thanks to riversideAK. Pours a hazy dirty orange with a small white head. Aroma of caramel malt and floral hops. Flavor of sweet fruits (apple in particular), floral hops, biscuity malt, some hop oils in the finish. Very pleasant and super drinkable. Great IPA!

22 oz. bottle from By the Bottle Vancouver WA, shared with local Brewmaster 6.24.2010.
One finger white head, pretty quick dissipation, decent lacing, deep gold clear body, some carbonation visible. Pretty malty in the nose, sweet, not much hop aroma. Taste is well balanced, sweet malts up front and floral hops, not too bitter. Mouthfeel is medium, pretty good effervescence. Very drinkable. Actually this was quite good, not hop aggressive, but very tasty. Worth a try.

Poured a nice orangish/copper color with a small white head and good carbonation. Nose is faint hops, floral. Taste is pretty average at best. Floral hops, light booze and subtle bitterness on the end. Overall this a is a pretty simple and average IPA. Not worth seeking out.

22oz bottle poured into a 22oz stein
Pours orangey-amber, slight head and strong lacing. No visible carbonation. Smell is citrus, sweet, and delicious. A little hoppy.
Taste is beautifully balanced. Hoppy and sweet, citric and floral, not overbalanced in any direction. Leans towards the hops, which is nice for me, since I love them.
Mouthfeel is nice -- it's substantial without being oppressive, thick but not sticky...very pleasant.
Very drinkable. Very pleasant. I'm a little drunk while reviewing this, so please forgive me, but I'm really enjoying the beer.
I'll provide a picture of the bottle if you want it, but I won't make the effort to fit it within BA's photo requirements.

Served in a pint glass at the Green Frog Cafe in Bellingham, WA. Poured very clear with about 3/4 inch of dull white head that dissipated quickly and left minimal lacing. The color was lighter than typical of an IPA, a very light amber.
The normal IPA scents are softly muted, without a dominant aroma. The flavor follows as expected, again softer than typical for the style, without a clear leader in the profile.
The body is average and drinkability is perhaps a touch slight for an IPA. Overall an average IPA that's enjoyable but not memorable.

On tap at the Dog & Pony, served in a shaker, Silver City's IPA (the bar tenders weren't sure which but this one has all the reviews) is a clear dark gold with an off-white head that leaves scattered lace.
Smell is spicy, piny hops, with an apricot aroma that reminds me of English ale esters.
Taste is very hoppy, pretty firm bitterness but aggressive all around, particularly on the lingering finish. Mostly the pine style, some breadiness too. Nice PNW IPA for sure.
Mouthfeel is a bit oily, but nice creamy carbonation, medium body.
Drinkability is pretty good, just another super tasty local IPA, goes down like butter.

drove up to vancouver, wa to pick up some more of the silver city fat woody, but it was sold out. i liked it, so i decided to take the rest of their lineup home with me. here is the first one i cracked.
murky and orange. crispy aerated foam. nose is a tad too bready, but assuredly punctuated by sweetened grapefruit and an earthy must. sips easy with low carbonation. medium bodied, which at ~7 seems pretty thick with a lack of bubbles.. and boozy too. perfectly bitter and not too sweet, but there's something filling up the flavor profile here. it's a faint roastiness and subtle caramel which dominates. in a pac nw ipa? should be more hops. although, with warmth, the urge to flex malt muscle eases up and we see some of the footier, cheesier hops emerge in the finish. these prove to be a nice foil to the initial assessment of the brew. it's a shame that an ipa needs so much warmth to be enjoyed, but it does.

A: Pours a crisp and golden tinted hue. Head is minimal and off white. Despite the thin layer of head retained there was still a decent amount of lacing that grabbed to the glass leaveing spotted clusters of bubbles till the end. This sits in the glass a very fresh and lively looking. Orange and apple juice tinted.
S: Floral, citrus, and pungent hops aromas. Orange peels and lemons mixed with freshly fallen pine needles. Some hints of melons and grapefruit. Not overly sugary but still a sweet coupling to round things out with Columbus and Cascade hops.
T: Very well balanced with pronounced hops and a caramel malt spine. Hops are very present in each taste but so is a grassy and brown sugar roundness. Hints of buttery grapefruit and lemon tang. The finish is both spicy and bitter with some grain and biscuit qualities. ABV is pretty decent on this and only makes an apperance as this warms.
M: Medium mouth feel with a solid spiced, dry, crisp, and bitter finish.
D: This is a solid local offering which could easily be downed throughout the night. Definitely a good twist on the standard IPA as something about this one seemed unique to me. Fresh, lively, and easily drinkable. Highly recommended as a local offering and for anyone coming out to visit the fine state of Washington.

22oz bottle acquired in trade with Larry Pitonka (thanks!).
Poured a medium and lightly hazy orange color with a smaller sized off white head. Some very small floaters. Aromas dominated by pine cones with some citrus. Tastes of pine, citrus, tangerines, light caramel and ended in a grapefruity bitterness. This one gave me some nice pine burps.

I had a pint of Indianola IPA at the brewery.
Pours a deep burnt gold color and is hazy. A creamy white head tops the beer, and is thick and sticky.
Smell is a bit faint, and is an aroma of pine.
Taste is a caramel malt backbone, with significant bitterness. Not a lot of sour citrus flavor in this one. Instead it has an earthy peat flavor.
Mouthfeel is full bodied and crisp.
Good drinkability especially for an ABV as high as 6.9%

Pours clear and with plenty of head. The color is a golden orange.
Smell is pleasant but atypical of an IPA. It has alot a baked apple aroma with a lot of caramel. Some lemon and potpourri too.
Lots of sweetness upfront with some tangy lemon flavors. Diacetyl is well pronounced for this American IPA. None of the apple that was in the nose can be tasted. Hops are more floral than anything else. Very nice. Bitterness is assertive but balanced.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and well balanced. Highly drinkable. I must say that their Whoop Ass IPA has a far more exciting flavor profile but this guy has balance written all over it. Another quality beer from Silver City Brewing Co. Recommended.

A: Poured a light copper color, good sized frothy white head, excellent lacing down the glass
S: Good biscut malt scent, pineapple, citrusy.
T: Thought there would be more malty flavors here, mostly just citusy hop taste. Too much bitterness for me.
M: Medium bodied, beer finishes dry\
D: Good smelling beer, could use more malt balance, too bitter for my tastes.

The Silver City Brewery almost temped me with a strong Scottish ale, but it was just too sweet for my taste at that moment. I'm partial to IPAs, so I went with the usual when I'm trying out a new brewpub.
It came out in an imperial 20oz pint, good to see. Clear, toasty golden color is attractive. Nothing out of the ordinary, but nothing wrong with that. Decent head dissipated kind of average, leaving a thin layer of bubbles and a little lacing.
Smell was weak. A little bit of bitter citrus, a little alcohol and sweetness but not much. Might have been because this beer was served quite cold. If I had been more patient and let it warm up a bit, it might have yielded more aromas, but I was searching and not finding.
Taste came through a bit more. Mild malts, a little biscuit and sweetness. Bitter, citrus hops remind me of lemon peel. This beer was pretty high on the bitterness scale, but not with much complexity or balance.
Mouthfeel was good. Medium-low level of carbonation, smooth, medium body, not too watery, not too syrupy.
Not my favorite IPA, but still drinkable for me. Maybe I was off for the night, or the batch wasn't their best. I'll probably give it a second chance if I'm the neighborhood again.
