In the 2023 beer advent calendar.
This was a very pleasant surprise. I don't see many red ales on offer in these parts and this would be worth a road trip to go get more.
Nice malt backbone, definite hop presence but overall sweeter than it is bitter. Excellent color and true in every way to the style.

Can: Poured a brown color ale with a light foamy head with minimal retention and light lacing. Aroma of caramel notes with some light roasted flavors. Taste is also a mix of caramel notes with some roasted mat notes and a semi-sweet finish. Body is about average with good carbonation. OK irish ale but lacking character.

Pours a dark red color with a foamy tan head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of roasted malts. Taste is unusual - smoky; caramel and roasted malts. No hoppy bitterness.

not a ton of american craft irish reds in distribution these days, at least not that i encounter in my travels, and i was quite pleased to start my day with this today, a style i always associate with day drinking for whatever reason. this is a nice take on the style, robust but also traditional, drinkable, and nicely refined. so much silver city beer in boise lately, especially on tap, its like it hit all at once. in any event, this has a deep bronze to brick red color to it depending on the light, high headed on draft and lacy as it drinks, nice to look at, especially in a globe, fancies it up a bit. one thing i love about this style when its done well is that there is a yeast element through it and that its dry compared to the typical american amber, and both of those elements are present here, which is really all i was looking for from this. the hops balance it nicely but are well restrained, the body isnt super full which i like, and its nice and fizzy so its an easy drink for its color. i think an excellent example of the style overall, more traditional than other beers i have had from these guys, nice they can dip a toe in both waters so competently. no red ale of any persuasion is ever going to blow my mind, but this hits all the marks and then some, frankly one of their better beers so far in my experience from a purely objective quality standpoint. nice!

can into glass
Moderate, long lasting head. Lovely, very clear, deep orange with some auburn in appearance. Mild caramelized malt aroma. Good and slightly malty with a bit of a bite, but not a hoppy bite. Slight malty finish.
