Poured In: Pint Glass
Had At: Great Dane (Hilldale, Madison, WI)
Appearance: Pours a clear light golden amber color with a finger of head. Slightly effervescent, but there aren't many bubbles come up to the top of the glass. The head retention isn't shabby, it stays afloat for awhile. It dies down a handful of minutes later and I'm left with some oily looking bubbles on top. After a few sips it looks like it's going to produce some thin streaks of lace down the side of the glass. There's a few dots next to the streaks as well.
Smell: A great hop nose on this one. A blend of earthy and citrus notes punch you right in the face. Pine, herbal notes, grapefruit and orange peel. A little bit of pale malt sits in the background, but it stays out of the way. This could probably be an IIPA with its hop profile.
Taste: The palate is right in line with the nose. First up, some slightly sweet pale malt. The malt quickly disappears and the hops take over. Many of the same notes listed above: pine, grass and orange peel. After the beer washed away it's like having a whole grapefruit right in your mouth.
Mouthfeel: This is a very smooth beer. I'd say it had a slightly below average amount of carbonation with a medium body, slightly on the thin side of medium.
Drinkability: A smooth beer with a great hop profile on the palate and nose. I should probably get a growler sometime...
Serving type: on-tap
