Here's a toast to the "Mother of Madison," Rosaline Peck; frontierswoman and owner of Madison's first public house. Our gold lager is brewed in true European style using only the finest imported Czech Saaz hops and lagered for a minimum of thirty days. Enjoy this old-world classic as you never have before - fresh at the source!

Poured from the tap into a pint glass. Pours orange yellow with a small white head. Smells of sweet cereal grain. Tastes of sweet grain with just a hint of fruit. Beer is light bodied with good carbonation, easy drinking. Overall, a good beer.

Appearance: Pours a clear, medium golden appearance with a large white head. SRM of 8. (4.25)
Aroma: Strong aromas of lemon upfront. There's wheat, bread roll, somewhat buttery. Bready yeast and then a sweet aroma. (4.00)
Flavor: Moderate flavors of lemon, sweet bread, a grainy yeast. Slight lemon bitterness. Grainy yeast and bread malt. Finish is smooth. (4.00)
Feel: Medium to heavier bodied. Good carbonation to match. Full on the finish. (4.00)
Compared to Bells Lager of the Lakes 8/9/22: Pours a darker appearance. A larger head. Stronger aromas. More lemon and bread notes. Less soggy grains. Winner: Pecks
Compared to Great Dane German Pils 11/2022: Pours a darker color, stronger aromas and head. More bready and biscuit flavors. Less lemon citrus. Smoother, sweeter, and breadier.
Compared to Iowa Brewing Bohemian Rapids 12/2022: Pours lighter, stronger aromas. More lemon citrus, lemon bread, butter. Less dry, grassy grains.
Overall: A very nice version for a Czech Pils. Lots of lemon citrus and lemon bread. Buttery. A bit over the top and definitely leans more American. Sweet, lemony, buttery. Nice flavors, but not quite to original style. (Rating: 3.87)

Great pils. Refreshing and smooth with a bite on the back end. Does very much remind me of Czech pils from my days in Europe.
