From the half liter bottle, it pours a lovely clear chestnut brown color with a nice, but small, head that lasts and leaves some lacing. The nose gets a dose of roasted and black malt with caramel notes. The taste follows the nose - this is a BIG beer with big flavors.

De Labirratorium. En copa hefe de Bavaria. Jugando a Fortnite. Con caña de lomo de Hipercor. Muy buena Doppelbock, mucho mejor que otras más afamadas como la celebrator. Corpulenta pero a la vez animando a trago largo gracias a un dulzor y sensación en boca de lo más adicitivo

#1762 - Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, zero reviews below read (yet!)...
L- Very deep chestnut brown, clear, pours with 1mm pale tan head. ps. @ +10mins, doesn't linger.
S- Ultra malty! It reminds me of 40 years ago when my dad made home-brew and this is exactly how the malt (powdered or liquid) used to smell. It's very unusual and distinctive and I don't recall smelling it quite so prominently on it's own in a beer like this before.
T- The smell^ reads over directly, super-malty, though mercifully not as richness.
F- Quite rich tasting (though not really rich feeling if that makes sense). Hoppy dry into the finish + good CO2 for balance.
O- Probably has the most prominent malt of any beer I've had in recent memory. That really dominates things for me; and too much so. The malts might just be a bit OTT in the mix, meanwhile it's more of a deep-winter beer than one for late spring when your taste-buds are waking up again...
500ml bottle BB: 07/2021 £3.75 Bought from TremblingMadness, York/UK as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.

On tap in Pamplona, Spain, it pours reddish brown color with a small tan colored head that left minimal lacing. Smells of caramel, malt, sweet roasted grains and faint brown sugar. Tastes sweet overall with malt, toffee, caramel, biscuit, light floral hops, bread crust, tea leaf and earthy notes.

Pours a clear reddish mahogany coloration with a large, creamy, quickly receding head. Smells of caramel malts, dark bread and spice. Taste follows the nose, with a strong, but not too complex, malt presence with dark bread and caramel being most dominant but a hint of dark fruit and and licorice is coming through as well. Some clove spicyness is also quite noticeable. Finishes quite dry and bittersweet for the style, with a lot of licorice coming through in the aftertaste. I'm quite surprised that this is rated so much worse than Salvator, which is a lot sweeter and more one-dimensional in my opinion. This isn't quite on the level of Celebrator or Doppelbock Dunkel by Andechs, but it's nice enough and pretty unique due to the spicyness and bitterness that is not as present in other Doppelbocks and quite pleasant in my opinion.

L: pours a nice magohny brown color, small white head that disolves very rapid.
S: toasted malts,caramel,raisins,toffe and bread
T&F: Malty from the start to the finish, at the first i sense roasted malts, with strong presence of caramel and bread, gets more sugary in the middle and i get some flavours of dark dried fruits. in the finish feel the presence of different spices as well, i would say the finish are mild bittersweet , with the sweetness especially present in the aftertaste. warning feel after just a few sips, mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. The thing i dislike with this beer is that is way to sweet for my preference.
O: A solid and good dopplebock, but a little to sweet for my taste.

Really dark brown color with tan head. Aroma has toasted malt and dark bread. Taste is malty, leans definitely towards the sweet side, dark bread, bread crust, burnt sugar and finishes with a slight earthy bitterness. Medium body with medium to low carbonation. Overall it's quite good but a bit sweet for my taste.

On draft, 500mL serving at Haxenbauer's in Munich. Black in colour with no head to speak off, smell is of caramel and burnt malts. Taste is of treacle and aniseed. This is a magnificent beer, however one is enough. Goes well with typical Bavarian cuisine.

Pours an almost black color with red hints to it, while holding the beer against the light, together with a big, fluffy white head.
Smells of earth infused, spicy licorice, soothed by toffee and raisins.
Has a lower carbonation, resulting in a very soft mouthfeel, which turns out to be a tad fuller than your usual Bock.
Tastes of toffee, wood bark, dried earth and rock sugar from the beginning, with spices joining in. The beer's spiciness creates a peppery bite, mellowed by the overall smoothness, opening up the palate to raisins and glazed caramel. After the swallow the established sweetness finds its counterpart in an earth supported dryness, almost reminding of cold pressed coffee beans, due to the use of a prominent, utmost spicy earth quality and warming alcohol, creating an awesome balance till the end.
This convinces for creating a fantastic and ever evolving depth of flavors, highlighting typical Doppelbock qualities, together with a unique, spicy twist.
