Brewed Sept/12. Batch 001. 5.9% ABV. Poured in to tulip.
A - Translucent pale straw yellow with a thin layer of white head.
S - Funk/tart notes evident right away with the salt also coming through. Lemon, bread and yeast esters also evident.
T - A big salt profile up front is followed by funk, hay, yeast esters, clove and lemon flavours. Some light oaky notes are also present. This beer is tart and funky, yet very refreshing and easy drinking.
M - Medium body, dry. Light carbonation.

So few reviews for this? Surprising! My first ever Gose, and I'm really enjoying it.
Appearance: looks a bit like a guezue actually. Quite pale, a little cloudy but still clear, and not much head or bubbles or... anything. This may be "to style" but to me it doesn't look appealing.
Smell: A bit of everything here. A little sweet, a little spicy, a little funky, and yeah even a little salty. seems nicely balanced, very interesting and very inviting.
Taste: A lot going on here but very balanced I think. Hops come through in the flavour towards the finish. Since its my first time with the style, I'll take the opportunity to try to describe it to somone else who hasent had it before... Its sort of like a cross between a standard wheat beer and a geueze with a bit of salt tossed in. Lingering finish is actually quite oakey.
Mouthfeel: a bit slick and wet feeling (thanks to the salt?). would prefer it to be a bit drier I suppose.
Overall: I think this is a good beer and a worthy experience. Well done GLB and Amsterdam

Appearance: pale, hazy gold, like fresh squeezed pineapple juice; egg white head has big suds and good retention; very active carbonation
Aroma: smoky, like tart, mouldy fruit; apple, pear
Taste & Mouthfeel: light in body, sizzling carbonation; starts refreshing with pear, peach, nectarine notes, which is followed with mild and very dry hop bitterness and finally a sense of coal dust from the mould flavour; there's a strong hit of that at the start too - perks up the tastebuds; didn't identify lemon, but once I'm tipped off by the label it clicks - it's actually a strong presence
Overall: refreshing, with a good variety of flavour, but carbonation is a bit much; very unique, don't see much of this around, possibly with good reason, definitely an acquired taste (which is fine if you're up for experimentation

Hazy blonde colour, ring of white head with a bit of lace hanging around. Smell is wheaty and malty, a fair bit of fruity scents, apples, light sweetness comes through with a bit of salt water as well. Taste is sweet at first and then salty, some fruti and oak, lightly tart but finishes with salty water and it pretty overpowering. Almost no carbonation, feels like it was killed by the barrel, light feel. While this was interesting I didn't find it all that enjoyable.

On tap at Session 99, into a tulip. A collaboration berliner weiss (with Mike Lackey of Great Lakes), aged in Chardonnay barrels.
Hazy yellow, with a white head. Moderate retention and some lace. Nose has soft white wine and grape notes, wheat, apple flesh, light spicing and warm salt water. Taste has a bit of spice, wheat, sweet salt water, bready with more white wine character. Perhaps a shred of oak, sweetness is brought forward from many different angles it seems. Medium mouthfeel, but carbonation is quite low for my liking. Some great ideas and interesting flavours, but they don't come together for me.

On-tap at Bryden's.
Beer is cloudy golden with a large white head. Good retention.
Bready malt in the smell, along with green grape, yeast and a slightly tart strawberry scent. Perhaps lactobacillus.
Taste is quite unusual. Crisp wheat, banana. Somewhat sour, tart fruit, some strawberry. The effect of the chardonnay barrel is clear, gives an interesting twist to the rest of the beer. Reminiscent of a biere de champagne.
Medium bodied, bready, high carbonation.
Overall, very enjoyable and quite unusual!
