hazy orange, decent white head with some nice lacing. Smell is malty initially, lots of hops in here as well, citrus, grapefruit and tangerine also some buttery notes here as well. Taste is hoppy, biter throughout, citrusy, light pine, notes of grapefruit in the finish. Med-high carb, medium body, oily and dry, quite slick as well. Very nice DIPA, got better as it warmed, easy drinking for ABV, quite good.

Project X bottle from the brewery. Bottled last week, so very fresh. According to the label: 11% ABV and 100 IBU.
Poured in to CBS Snifter
A - Medium amber colour with a big orange glow around the edges and a small amount of cream coloured head that quickly receded to a few bubbles.
S - Citrus and tropical fruit notes up front but not as pungent as I expected. A touch of sweet caramel in the background. The bitterness is evident but not what I would expect given the label. Something is slightly off considering the freshness.
T - A good bitterness up front that at times is somewhat assertive but overall is fairly tame for 100 IBU. There are hints of pineapple and tangerine and a touch of caramel sweetness along with some buttery notes. The ABV is fairly well hidden at first but as this one warms up it becomes more and more distracting. This just doesn't taste like a fresh DIPA.
M - Medium body, smooth and creamy. Light carbonation.
O - This was a disappointment. Came across more like an American Strong Ale than a DIPA. Everything about this beer was slightly off and the flavours didn't come together at all.

Great Lakes tap takeover at Bryden's. A hop bomb. Lots of hops, 100 plus IBU. Funk ad mothballs aroma, a little more appealing as it warmed. Above average mouthfeel, very malted, but a plate shredder. Very bitter, not too drinkable. Unfiltered grapefruit colour.

On tap at Volo, served in a tulip.
Pours an amber-orange, with a dense white head. Great lacing is left, and some mild retention. Nose has big citrus notes, orange, grapefruit and some cat pee. You get only a smidgen of the alcohol that's about to hit. Taste has a more tropical tone to it, picked up some pineapple and mango here with some pine lingering in the background; lots of alcohol is interwoven through this mix. Some milder orange and tangerine is present also, and there's a nice caramel base to support this; hops are clearly the focus of this however. Sticky and resinous feel, with a big body and an alcoholic burn. A lighter than medium carbonation. A solid DIPA overall, albeit quite alcoholic.

On tap at Volo. $7.25/330ml
A: Quite an amber body. Not much head unsurprisingly. Laces pretty well though.
S: Lots of citrus here. Pine is also around but in a smaller dose. Grapefruit, pineapple, and orange are present in a big way.
T: Very juicy. Almost tastes like pure hop extract. Really overpowers the helpless malt backbone. I like it though! Suggestions of above sent profiles, plus rubber, leather, earth.
M: Quite sweet, full bodied, a little sticky but not too bad.
Overall: Drinkability is kind of out the window on this one, but it's a great sipper and quite refreshing. The hoppiest Canadian made beer I've ever had.
Hope to see more like this from our Ontario breweries. I hope they brew this one again.
