Delachaise is just around the corner from The Bulldog, making my long walk to this neighborhood worthwhile. Delachaise looks like it is in an old drive-thru restaurant, but like a lot of businesses I've been to in New Orleans, looks like it's on its 8th or 9th incarnation of commerce. It has a rounded glassed in front, some tables, and a bar. It's bright in here, with a lot of glass.
The beer-list was practically identical to what could be found at The Bulldog and d.b.a., and maybe it was because I visited this place last, but I thought it was the least interesting. There was a selection of wine, cognac, whiskey, and scotch. My fatigue with beers available in this city reached a new low here - I didn't even get a beer here, opting for some high-end bourbon instead.
Delachaise had some light food on the menu, and appeared to cater to the wine & cheese crowd more than the beer-geek crowd (right down to a bartender who sounded French). If you are one of those beer aficionado's who dabble in those other libations as well, then this might be a good fit for you. Flyer and I split a cheese plate which was frankly overpriced for the quantities you were given. Drinks were more expensive than other places I've cited as well. If you're visiting with a non-beer person (wife, girlfriend, etc), then Delachaise might be a good compromise, but if you're looking for a great beer experience, you would be better served elsewhere.

Much more of a wine and cheese bar (that happens to have a decent craft beer line-up) than a craft beer bar. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) The atmosphere is very nice, with a kind of casual sophistication, and although the beer menu was very similar to that of d.b.a. and the Bulldog, it was obvious the bartender knew nothing about beer. From the looks of the clientele (sorry for any stereotyping) I'd have to guess the same. Zero beer culture -- so much so that Beerbelcher ordered a whiskey. Still, for what it is, it's a very good place, but there is a clear air of pretension, and for a beer-oriented experience, you're much better off at the nearby Bulldog, and even better off taking the short trip to d.b.a.

I am a little biased . . . this being my neighborhood bar . . . but this is a really good place.
The owners place a large emphasis on quality regarding their alcohol. Lots of solid but lesser known wines and hard alcohol.
Good beer selection for such a small bar. Lots of solid choices: Mackeson XXX, Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout, Rogue Dead Guy Ale, Unibroue La Fin du Monde and Maudite, Delirium Tremens, Orval, Rochefort 10, Trappist Achel.
The atmosphere is good, and I always receive good service.
Really good tapas eats served until 1AM.

As far as I can tell, this place is named after the cross street that it is located on that intersects with St Charles Avenue. It doesnt open till 5pm, so be aware if you head out this way in the afternoon. Located in the uptown section of New Orleans, just on the fringe of the garden district its quite hard to miss this place. The building itself looks like a rail car or something that has been plopped right onto the corner. Very cool looking building and the surrounding neighborhood is quite pretty.
You walk in and it immediately feels like a somewhat upscale place; almost more of a fancy wine bar than a beer bar. It is nice to see a place like this that actually gives both beer and wine the proper respect and attention that they deserve. The beer selection was definitely better than average and you can tell from the cleanliness of the place that unlike many other places in NOLA, they actually clean their draft lines regularly. I opted for a couple Efes pilseners from Germany which I dont see around much and finished up with a Hitachinos nest white ale. The beers were fresh and tasty.
We had some food and it was pretty fantastic. I would give it a rating of exceptional but when you consider how good the food is in New Orleans in general a 4.5 is the best I can give. We had some fennel oyster bisque and a pate plate along with the charcuterie plate. They were all very good. The bartender was very nice and her service was great but I dont believe there were more than a few other people in there at the time so we did get plenty of attention. This is a perfect place to incorporate into the uptown NOLA bar crawl. Strongly recommended.

First impressions from the outside is the small size, but once inside, I was surprised by how spacious it was for such a narrow building. The lighting is dark, but not too dark. The friendliness of the bartenders and the maturity of the usual crowd makes for a very comfortable environment.
Their most comprehensive stock is of wine, but don't discount the beer selection. While they don't have the selection of the Bulldog, what they do have is full of solid options.
The comfortable environment makes you want to relax with your drink for as long as you desire. Definitely a favorite.

AKA "Le Grand Comptoir" (The Great Bar), I give kudos to whomever added this place! I would have walked right past it, had I not had the address in hand.
The layout reminded me of an old train observation car from the outside front, with its curved, oval structure. Inside, it had more of a vintage diner feel, much longer than wide, with the long, laminated blonde-wood, elogated "U"-shaped bar along the left wall, facing aft. The back bar was a series of mahogany shelves and mirrors, above which were a series of blackboards detailing all of the current drafts - Sierra Nevada Summer Fest, Chimay White, Spaten Lager, Anchor Porter, and Lindeman's Framboise; their extensive bottled beer selection; and then, their wine and liquor selection. Make no mistake, this is first and foremost a wine bar, but there were plenty of beers to keep me busy. The right wall was a series of cushioned seats with a few high tables in front of them. The music was really to my liking: a mix of pre-British Invasion 1960's garage rock and rockabilly. Overall, however, it was a bit upscale for yours truly.
Drinks and Eats: I started with a Spaten Lager, then moved to Bitburger Pils and finished with a Sazerac Rye. What was that last? Ah, rye whiskey is making a comeback and it may be my downfall. It is really fantastic stuff. Also, they had a fantastic selection of cheeses and I opted for the Chef's Choice Platter, which garnered some concerned looks from the staff. Hey, I'm a hearty fellow who frequents Mandros' Grocery in Lancaster, PA for their cheeses. Don't worry comme moi. The cheese was afntastic and came served on a bakelite rendition of an artist's pallatte.
Mom Test: Easily. A definitely user-friendly place.
