On draft at The Lark, East Northport, NY.

Poured a light brass hue with a two finger frothy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured soft doughy malts and a light herbal hop.

The taste consisted of clean grainy malt, a touch if honey and a crisp herbal bitterness.

The mouthfeel was light and clean.

Overall a tasty, quaffable spring beer.

A - Pours a nice clear yellow color, half a finger head, moderate lacing.
S - Flowers, lots of honey, flour, wheat.
T - Floury and wheat with just a minor touch of honey. Weird bitterness
M - Thin, and somewhat watery, the weird bitterness hangs on to your palate, cant place my finger on what it is.
O - Wasnt expecting much, and thats exactly what I got. Its by no means a pale ale, there about zero hop presence in this beer. Drinks and feels like a wheat more than anything.

Got this average beer for an average price of 1.00 for the single.

A - Carbonation throughout making a 1/2 inch of head that pulls back to a sticky lace ring. Color is a very dark orange yellow color kind of like honey.
S - Dry honey like smell with sweet malts and a touch of grains. Smells light with little to no hops on the nose.
T - Dry honey like flavor layered with a metallic twang of grainy bitterness. Sweeter malts fill in the finish making it somewhat enjoyable. Could use more balance.
M - Light to medium. Not bad.
Overall for a dollar it's either hit or miss and I believe I got my moneys worth. An easy drinking beer with somewhat interesting flavor. Maybe could use more honey like malts to balance out the grainy bitterness.

A. It has a clear-ish caramel color. There are some lines of bubbles coming up. A limited off-tan head with some lacing.

S. Very pungent, sweet malt scent.

T/M. It has a soft metallic feel to it. It is malty. A very mild sweet honey taste. Smooth and medium bodied.

O. It has a very mild flavor and is a tad dry. Nothing jumps out. Just simple and dull.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass

A: Clear orange. Foamy white head has great retention. Many rings of sticky lacing coat the glass.

S: Grainy malts, bread. Slightly musty, earthy yeast. Green and floral hops. Simple pale ale smell.

T: Mild hop bitterness at the outset. Green and floral. Malt takes over mid-palate with doughy, bready, and grainy tastes. Earthy yeast mid to back end. Slight must. Finishes with earthy, musty yeast.

M: Light in body and rather watery. Aggressive seltzer-style carbonation adds a crisp, refreshing bite.

O: A small, simple beer. Not too much going on in this one. It has some redeeming qualities, but it’s fairly uninteresting. As with many of Long Trail’s beers, the appeal lies in its drinkability.

12 oz poured into a snifter. 011612 on the bottle.

A: Pours a clear orange gold with a 1.5 finger puffy white head. Average visible carbonation.

S: Not much, a little malt, slight hop.

T: Has a light ale taste with a smooth taste. Well balanced malt and hop. Seems a tad off center.

M: Crisp and quite drinkable. I dont think the mouthfeel makes it harder to drink.

Overall an average beer that doesnt stand up in the current craft beer scene.

Spring 2012 bottle.

APPEARANCE: Poured a pale orange-yellow color with two fingers of fluffy white head. Plenty of carbonation bubbles noted in the ultra-clear brew. The head lasted for quite some time with decent lacing throughout the beer.

AROMA: Pale Malts, Grains, Faint Lemon, Hops, and Dried Grass.

TASTE: There’s a mild grassy zing from the hops up front, which is followed by a good dose of grains and malts. A subtle sweetness surfaces about midway. I was hoping that the hops would make a return appearance towards the back end, but not so. Instead, you’re left with more grains and grass in this clean finishing ale.

MOUTHFEEL: Thin to medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

MOREY’S BOTTOM LINE: Reminds me of a Kolsch more than a Pale Ale. Long Trail refers to it as both a “Spring Ale” and a “Golden Ale”. Either way, it could use a bit more pizazz in my opinion. I guess that this would make a pretty good gateway beer into the world of craft beer. It’s not bad, but not very memorable either.

A: Pours a crystal clear medium golden yellow in color with moderate amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a half finger tall white head that reduces to a large patch of extremely thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer (which is centered) and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate lacing is observed.

S: Moderate aromas of floral hops along with lighter notes of some pale malts and grains.

T: The flavor starts out with pale malts and some light amount of honey sweetness. There is a light amount of bitterness that seems to be contributed by a combination of floral and spicy hops.

M: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Clean.

O: This beer is very easy to drink, enjoyable, and quite sessionable. While the beer is not amazing, it is very drinkable and with the lower ABV it is definitely a good session beer.

A: A pristine clarity of pale orange color has a spacious and slow rising effervesce within. A bubbly and frothy ivory colored head retains moderately while leaving a thin speckled spot of lacing on the vessel.

S: Damp pale grains, fresh sunflower, shrubbery hops, with a pinch of dried stale honey malt and pale oranges bring a flowery sense to the aroma.

T: First impression was a bit watery, things happen to thicken up a bit on subsequent sips. Damp pale grains, musky sunflowers brings a moldy, flowery hop flavor as with the nose, but again doesn’t mean its tasty. The flavor and body seems thin, with pale oranges, dried honeymalt that wimpers on the swallow with a watery finish.

M: holds a bit more substance then the flavor delivers, slippery syrupy malt base with some sour orange flower hop fade off the tongue. Very low carbonation factor fails to bring the zip and snap to the palate.

O: Maybe this was a bad bottle. Overall lacks crispness with a sour orange and dried honey malt flavor that is thin and watery. The hops are a bit strange, weeds and wildflowers and not one I would drink as a summer ale or one I could recommend per style. Pass.

Had on 4/16/12. Poured into a SA Perfect Pint.

Appearance is golden yellow with a very slender head. The lacing left behind on the glass is also very average. Not bad, but average at best.

Aromas of mild hops and light malt. Slightly sweet, but nothing noteworthy.

Taste is much of the same. Good balance of citrus hops and malt make this brew pretty refreshing. Aftertaste is on the sweeter side, solid if nothing else. The mouthfeel on this beer is good, with appropriate carbonation. Body on the lighter side, making this one pretty easy to drink.

Decent beer, nothing to go crazy over. Makes for some easy drinking with the flavor to make it interesting.

S-Lots of malt, straw, not much else, kinda boring.

T-Strong malt bill, little to not bitterness, some grass and citrus as well.

Picked up a single at Euro Market in Queens. I wasn't sure what to expect, but most honey beers come off as sweet, bland blonde ales. This has a legitimate hops character with a mild honey character. There's a peppery finish and an herbal citrus (reminds me of Cascade hops) bite similar to Summit Extra Pale Ale, but there's also that light honey sweetness and a creamy, toasty malt element. Cool summer beer, check it out.

Poured from a bottle into a tumbler pint, the beer is a bright, crystal-clear, honey-yellow coloring with only a sparse, filmy coating of head and a decent cling along the glass. Aromas are honey sweet, slightly toasted grains, and a subtle hopping. Flavors are heavily roasted, with a slight peppering at the end of the profile. Honey sweet backbone with a tangy, spicy hop presence that cleans the palate, and a citrus blend of lemon and tangerine throughout. The beer is light and bubbly in mouth, leaving a slightly filmy finish. Sweet and peppery aftertaste is like a kick of lemon pepper all over the palate. Decent beer, and very easy to drink.

Appearance - 1 finger head that holds fairly well. golden ale coloring and clear with decent carbonation

Smell - malty and cracker scents prevail with some metallic scents.

Taste - very grainy taste. Decent flavoring and a bit different than other pale ales I've tried. Nice balanced cripsness in finish. Nothing great or memorable just a nice departure to sample.

Mouthfeel - Full bodied for a 4.6%.

Overall - Very ordinary pale yet unique in its own way. Worth a drinking and worth supporting locally but for so many options across the country in this catatgory its really not worth seeking out.

enjoyed in a pint glass

A: pours a perfectly clear deep yellow color with a small amount of carbonation bubbles, pours with two fingers of creamy off white colored head that lingers nicely before leaving a very nice amount of lacing all around the glass
S: very fresh grassy and hay scent, light and clean, slightly sweet at the end
T: begins crisp and clean with slight grassy notes although it does lack the nice hop notes i have seen in other APAs but it is still a nice drinking brew
M: clean, thin, strong carbonation up front leaves the mouth just slightly dry and sticky
O: its a very nice drinking brew for hot summer days, highly sessionable and overall enjoyable

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle stamped 012312. Sampled on March 23, 2012. It pours golden yellow with moderate carbonation leading up to a full white head that lingers. The aroma is pelasntly balanced with roasted barley malts talking up the more shy crisp hoppy character in the background. The body is light but not thin. The taste is refreshing with a fine balance opf malts and clean hops. Moderate bitterness. This is the epitome of a spring pale ale.

Had on tap at the location in Bridgewater Corners. The beer had a light golden-yellow appearance with a medium sized head. The aromas were mostly floral with a light hop flavoring. Could sense some of the honey aroma to the beer. The taste had a slight buttery sweetness mixed with a light bready flavor. The carbonation that looked apparent in appearance was definitely noticeably in the beer, making it a very refreshing sweet drink. Overall, not too bad.

Extremely extremely pale straw color with the best clarity I've seen in a beer (better than coors light only because coors light is always served so cold that it frosts up the glass). Sticky bright white head. Not much on the nose, some biscuit, thats about it.

Taste is light, slightly sweet, crisp, and a little bigger in body than expected. Lightly toasted all grain bread with a touch of sticky sweet, caramel/ honey like sweetness and overall floral hop presence balancing everything out to the crisp beer that it is.

Would make for a good spring seasonal but I dont really understand spring seasonals. Good and drinkable as usual from long trail but like long trails other seasonals; not worth the seasonal availability.

Pollenator displays a clear, light gold color, and a few wisps of foam hang out on top. It has a pleasant, mild aroma of sweet cheerio-esque graininess. The flavor is what you might expect from the aroma: clean, sweet grainy malt character balanced by a bit of hops. The finish is a slightly astringent/harsh, but doesn't take away very much from the overall drinkability. Overall, a good beer to try for spring weather.

A - Poured with a clear, golden yellow body with a lot of carbonation racing to the top...a two finger, white head formed and slowly feel to a thin cap...patchy lacing was left behind

S - Pale malt is very present with underlying sweet notes from some honey...very grassy as well

T - The flavors are very sweet but it doesn't come in until the middle...first the pale malt starts things off light and flavorless...the sweetness comes in at the middle and has a lot of raw sugar and honey supporting it...a the end there is a grassy hop presence mixed with some citrus rind...the two don't mesh well together

M - Light bodied...crisp, weird bitterness, sweet

O - I wasn't a big fan of this one...if it focused more on the honey flavors and toned the sweetness down I could have managed it...the hops and grassy flavors were a little disappointing

Served on-tap in a plain pint glass at The Iron Frog in Simsbury, Conn.

A: Hazy, golden amber color beneath a thin veil of bubbly carbonation that left little lacing.

S: A slightly sweet and metallic, funky wheat and adjunct tang with a hint of citrus and hay.

T: Decent amount of bright, malty sweetness up front with traces of honey, clove, citrusy, grassy hops and cooked veggie/floral bitterness. This leads into a slightly bittersweet and grainy finish with some lingering, sharp hop resin.

M: Thin-medium bodied pale ale with enough grainy malt to even out the traces of spicy hop bitterness. Still light in the satisfaction department, though.

O: Not a terrible beer but still one that teeters on the edge of a forgettable, pale, spring/summer ale below 5% ABV. Not nearly a pale wheat and not enough hop character to call it an APA. Grainy, spicy and light.
