Clear amber orange in color, moderate froth and retention. Scent brings notes of citrus and pine with a moderate light caramel and toast malt base. Taste is more of the same, well balanced between malt and hops. Medium bodied, light creaminess. Solid pale, nothing too amped up and easy drinking.

A: Pours a deep clear orange with a one finger head that recedes quickly and reveals fairly bubbly carbonation.
S: Rich malts with a touch of pine/spice. Fairly muted.
T: Taste follows the smell here with the earthy pine component leading the way. Plenty of caramel malts to help balance things out.
M: Smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Very drinkable.
O: I enjoyed this beer. An easy to find go-to around these parts.

First review here. Ever.
I like Long Trail. They're quite consistent, and they're consistently cheaper than most other craft brewers. As a relatively young drinker (under 30, pay no attn to the profile), I haven't explored the whole market beyond the occasional Stone (love Arrogant B) or Lagunitas, but I've had enough to know what I like, and that some Pale Ales are more like IPAs and some IPAs are more like Pales.
What I would say about this brew, which I don't recall having before (my most regular Long Trail purchases are DoubleBags, after spending weekly on LT IPA while ogling the $11+ six-packs from the 90+ rated brews featured on the top shelves of the half-room-length fridge at the local store (I'm pleased that more breweries are doing single 12-ounce bottle sales; NOT refridgerated, however), is that it's eerily similar to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, which is an absolute knockout in my book. Sierra is my second love. They haven't hiked prices as fast as other producers, and I have not had a bad brew from them. Stone may technically take the cake for me ATM, but a Koch bomber for $5+ vs a $9 sixer from Chico is pretty much guaranteed to go one way, eh.
So I approve of this bottle! I apologize for the unconventional method for a virgin review on BA, but all of this has been to delay telling you that I did not look for a bottling date before I left the store and drove to la casa. And each bottle reads "11/07/12". ...!!!!... And I purchased them on 3/20/13. ...!!!.... Not the craziest span of time in history, but pushing the "freshness" expectation a little much, yes? For a 5.7% abv pale? I was afeared!
Well, I'm going phew (and mmm) right now. I store my beer in a dark place in a cool spot in a cool cellar (never verified the temperature, but for years I've enjoyed the coolness levels of beers kept there), and most of the bottles will probably be gone by the end of the coming weekend, so I think I'm safe, but I think this can be useful (if unscientific) information for people curious about how far to take dates on bottles. Mind you, this pick was taken from the bottle shelf (I love you LT, no matter where they put you) of a WORKING FRIDGE at the shop, which does affect lifespan, I know, but I am relieved that I didn't throw $8 away just because I wasn't willing to spend $9 on SN today. I emailed LT just to see what they have to say about the matter, but I'm sure they'll just confirm my conclusion. Which is that I'm fine with what I have, but that I would be that much finer if it had reached me sooner.
Cheers, everyone.
