I went here last night because the place I normally go to get chicken wings (next door) was closed for renovations.
They offered us the same chicken wing price which was cool. It was also buy 1 get 1 night which you can technically make a killing on if you know how to choose the beers depending on their value. They had a really decent selection that covered most of the popular beer styles. Lots of bottles, about 10 taps I think. Nice staff. Seems to be quite a hippy hangout (which doesn't bother me).
overall, better than I expected.

Great botte selection! Subpar service, guy was rude and didnt know what a pale ale was. The pizza is sooo good, thin and floppy and very very tasty. BOGO for happy hour everyday. Good place to hit with friends for a pool game or buckhunter. Quickdraw and pretty girls. I will return.

I was in Rochester only for a day to audition at the Eastman School of Music and I looked up places to go for beer in the area. I went to Acme first- it was a Friday night and pretty packed. It was a little divey but I thought it was pretty fun. A lot of locals and some out of towners also- they had a few big TVs so I sat at the bar and watched a basketball game while I drank a Rogue Santa's Private Reserve for $2.50 (!) and St. Bernardus Christmas Ale on tap for $5. They have really great deals every day and lots of good stuff on tap (they have about 10-15). A good selection of bottles as well with a mix of domestic, import, and local beers. Unfortunately, they have very limited glassware despite having so many good beers, so I was drinking my Belgian Strong Dark Ale out of a weird glass that seemed to be for water (certainly not a wide-mouthed wine glass, tulip, or snifter). However, that is easily overlooked when taking into account that this bar has a great selection and good prices. Definitely a fun place to check it if you're in Rochester.

I like Acme a lot. I have been going there (mainly on Sundays) since it opened many years ago.
Super diverse crowd of drunks, college, business people, bikers(motor and pedal), and alternative.
you never know who you will see here.
The food selections is bar grub but the food is above average. the thin crust pizza is great and the burgers are very good. Love the wings and the Tater tots. Yum.
The beer selection is always decent. I can always find something in bottle or on tap that i like. It's the perfect place to bring a friend who is not into craft beer because I can get the good stuff and they can get the yellow fizzy stuff.
Bathrooms are very very scary. Just ask my wife.
A Sunday staple.

Wow.
Atmosphere here leaves something to be desired - very dark, hole-in-the-wall, drown your sorrows kind of feeling to the place. Never been a fan of the style.
Ordered up a slice of pizza to go with my beer, and I got a decent slice of thin crust that had very little grease. Just the way I like it.
But the real selling point here is the beer. Every day, until 7 or 8, is 2-for-1 on every tap in the place. I hear the selection rotates often; on my visit I found two offerings from Troegs, as well as DFH, Victory, Arcadia, and a few others that are slipping away. And the cool thing I learned about two-for-one: you can bring back that little "free drink" token they give you whenever you want. So if you feel like popping in for a quick pint, just pay full price, drink your beer, and take off. Now, next time you come in...FREE BEER!
Every day, they offer rotating specials from 8pm-1am. Mondays, it's still just 2-for-1. Thursdays are $6.50 pitchers of everything on tap. Tuesdays are easily my favorite - $1.50 for all pints. Yep. While I was out of town, they had Nugget Nectar on tap. $1.50 pints of NN on that Tuesday night.
The service is nothing special, but I never felt like I was being ignored. The tap selection isn't the largest ever (maybe 10-12 at most), but what they did have was terrific. There's a large assortment of bottles too, though, so as long as you're not too picky about where the beer comes from, you've got a lot to choose from.
This is going to become a very, very regular joint for me.

This is a pretty cool place to hang and drink some good beer. Typical mixed bar crowd - twenties & thirties. Pool table in the rear, and outside enclosed smoking area.
Service isn't the best (I guess it depends on the night - I had the same bartender on my first few visits, I'm told there are better).
Selection is great for such a small place. Inventory turns over rapidly so the freshness is there. From one week to the next almost every tap handle is different. Good bottle selection and excellent prices on imports and craft beers. Great draft & well specials on select nights.
Pizza is delicious and affordable. Quality reminds me of a NYC pizzeria.
Parking totally blows in that there isn't any at all!

"Hey, if you're in Rochester, you've got to go to Chuck's place, he's got good beer", or so Boo says. I have very different ideas about what good beer is than that of my kid brother, although he knows what I'm about. When I go to his house, he'll say, "You want a beer?" and then after stickin' his head in the fridge to grab himself one, will add, "Oooh, I don't know if I have anything good enough for yoooou, beer dick", all sarcastically. Sometimes, though, I'm pleasantly surprised by good beer remnants of sixpacks brought over by his friends, ones and twozies of this or that left over. Anyway, he went to school with Chuck in another time in another other town on the very same lake. They have a brewpub there with no jousting. But, hey, I'm in Rochester, I'm going to go to Chuck's place, I've heard he's got good beer...
Perfect meeting place for the "First Annual New York State Artists Formally Known As Beer Fly Guides Statewide Assessment Of Things Review Conference And Regional Beer Sampling Debauchery" (FANYSAFKABFGSAOTRCARBSD), recently reorg'd due to staffing changes, of course. Parked outside in the street, parked inside at the bar. Taps, tunes, TV's, seems kind of sort of very sports barsy. A long "L" shaped wood laminate topped bar seats 14 along the far wall. 10 taps on a wood box on the bar and 3 more on a tower to the side. The center barback counter holds tiered booze around the registers and Jagermachine, and more slightly shelved there below a large flatscreen and specials board above. Bottled selections in a glass front cooler to the left of the barback, and a double wide to the right. Coolers are pasted with stickers bumper and brewery and hottie staff photos too. Slat wood walls with brick trim uppers, adorned with plenty of beer & brewery signage, neons and mirrorage. Drop lamps over the bar and TV's everywhere showing everything. A pair of booths in the front window on one side of the bar near the CD juke, electro darts in a nook on the other side. A pair of bar tables, and a few games (Big Buck Hunter and a Family Guy pinball machine) just past there, and a bar counter in the middle of the room seating 8. Nearly a half dozen more tables to the rear, and a single pool table beyond. Is that Wile E. Coyo, no, forget it.
Lucky 13 taps, at least ½ of them New York state and regional micros (Custom BrewCrafters "Talk To Me" IPA, Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, Blue Point Hoptical Illusion, Saranac Black Forest, Erie Railbender Ale, Victory Hop Devil, Sam Adams Lager), the rest are micros (Abita Purple Haze, Sprecher Special Amber), and then Guinness, and the 3 bedfellows on the Molson tower (Molson Canadian, Blue Moon, Killian's Red). The Custom BrewCrafters "Talk To Me" IPA was fresh and tasty, I mean real tasty, like the kind of tasty where you have a second one of these, please.
The bottled list shows just over 60 bottles. 3 dozen of them are micros (Anderson Valley, Cooperstown, Sackets Harbor, Boulder, Flying Dog, Heavy Seas, Lagunitas, North Coast, Avery, Ommegang, Smuttynose, Victory, Great Divide, Blue Point, Abita), nearly another dozen decent to good imports, and the rest macros BMC and otherwise.
Missed lunch again so dinner it is. Food menu is wings, pizza, burgers, sandwiches & subs, and fried apps (fries, stix, fingers, taters, skins). It's said they make a very good pizza here but I'm looking for something else, and that something else is a grilled chicken sandwich. It was a perfect sandwich, of all chickeny goodness and toppings fresh. Seriously.
Good food, I think I may get back for a pizza, and yeah, Chuck's got good beer.

This is my weekend spot. The atmosphere is very nice here. It is usually a mix of all types (Ghetto, preppy douches, indie kids, the metal heads, and people who just like good beer at great prices). The selection is excellent. What impreses me is the selection of american micro brews (ommegang, dogfish head, victory). How awesome is a 2$ hop devil on a sunday night(Most micro brews are only 2 dollars on sundays). Nothing beats a 3 dollar basket of waffle fries with cheese and bacon on them but they make great burgers also. The pizza is sweet also with a thin crunchy crust. Don is the best bartender of all time.

This used to be my local spot when I lived on Rosedale St I would walk there every Wednesday and usually once on the weekend. Wednesday night is $2 pints of your choice. Every night theres some sort of drink special to get good quality beer on the cheap. Theres like ten taps that rotate almost daily and two coolers with a bunch of different bottles. Service can be quite slow a lot of the time. The pizza doesn't look like its anything special but eat a slice or two and you'll say wow thats good. Crowd is pretty chill so its a good place to go and have a pint.

I went here this past weekend and was excited to see that there was a decent tap and bottle selection. Acme had a good vibe, typical of most sports bars. Not outstanding though. I wish I could review more than that but that's where it stops. Myself and the 3 other people I was with lined ourselves against the bar and could not get a drink after 15 minutes of waiting with our money out-stretched and eager to get a drink. The female bartender who was working our side of the bar spent more time flirting with drunk asses with popped collars then serving the large crowd. After patiently waiting 15 minutes one of the people I was with started saying "excuse me". Well, apparently she didn't like politeness cause she got all pissy and then really started ignoring us. We left, but not without complaining to management. I can't remember the last time I was treated this poorly at a bar. What a bitch. Anyways, I hope this was a isolated incident and it seems like others had better service than I did. Either way, I won't be stopping by here again for a long time.
