A: The beer is relatively clear straw yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that died down a little but consistently left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: There are light aromas of bready and grainy malts in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste is filled with flavors of bread and grain malts plus dough-like yeast along with some faint hints of sweetness and a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: From its appearance, I would have expected this to be similar to an American Adjunct Lager, but I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of adjunct malts in the smell and taste and it not feeling watery. The unpasteurized nature seems to put this ahead of other beers in this category. It is quite easy to drink.

Golden amber color. Made two fingers of head with short retention leaving a thin lace.
Faint aroma of malt, hints of minerals and grains.
Malty flavor with hints of vanilla. Mild spicy feeling with a dry but not bitter aftertaste. Light to medium body with a good carbonation.
Nothing special to it, though its style is kind of straight forward.

Pours a clear yellow with a foamy bone colored head that settles to a very small amount of fizzy film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Lots of carbonation bubbles can be seen rising in the beer after the pour. Smell is of malt, grain, sugar, and a mild skunky aroma that dissipates as the beer warms up. Taste is much the same with a sweet, slightly fruity flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp but slightly sticky mouthfeel. Overall, this is a lower than average beer that is not balanced and is somewhat of a chore to drink.

Light, golden amber colour with a tiny, white head that quickly turns to a patchy lacing.
Corn & light, cheap lager malts along with a slightly skunky aroma and some lingering sweet malts. There is a touch of grass hops in there as well.
Sweet, tangy hops and again some light malts that are relatively sweet in flavour. There is some corn, bread and a general, cheap lager taste.
Light & quite smooth with a slightly spicy tang and moderate carbonation coupled with a light bitter finish.
Another below average beer and nothing more than a cheap, industrial produced pale lager that doesn't do enough to hold your attention or keep you interested past the first sip.

500 ml bottle. Pours pale straw hue with some haziness, white foamy, lasting white head and soda like carbonation. Nose is grassy hops, hay with hints of grain. Light, smooth body. Light hops, sweet malt and cooked rice combine on the palate. Light finish. Forgettable brew.

Poured from a brown 16.9 oz. bottle. Has a slightly cloudy golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts and grains, a touch sweet. Taste is crisp, grains up front, some malts, refreshing. Feels light in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Bottle into Chimay goblet in low altitude Galway, Ireland.
A: Pours a half finger head of good thickness but no cream and of poor retention. Semitransparent dark yellow colour. Poor head may be affected by the glassware.
Sm: Light scent of dirty barley. Eck.
T: Barley body with multiple shades for added complexity, a slight cream climax, and a malt-tinged finish with a disagreeable aftertaste. Tries for a good form of complexity with simple ingredients, and fails. I appreciate the attempt, but it needs cleaning up. Lose the barley. No bittering hops really come through. Built more or less on par with the demands of the style, but is far from mastery. Balances the few ingredients it bears. I don't taste a thin rice body, as per the label. In fact, it's quite the opposite...
Mf: Wet and smooth, which suits the simple flavouring, but also lumpy and thick, which is ridiculous to support a 5.3% ABV. It ought to be light and refreshing, not overbearing.
Dr: The ABV is hidden, but at 5.3% that's not difficult to accomplish. You wouldn't want it again, especially at Irish prices, but fans of the style can always oblige.

A - light yellow haze. fizzy head. Foamy start, then to a relaxed layer.
S - tobacco, sweet malt, touch of a lager yeast smell you'd expect. About the tobacco, it's not a bad thing really, it took me a while to recognize that smell as it was very familiar. Specifically cigarette tobacco.
T - Finishes very sweet, which I really don't like. It distracts from what you just tasted which was some rich malt but so fleeting with this onslaught of sweetness.
M - coating sweetness
D - No thanks. Too many disagreeable notes for me to finish it.

Marikka's gets some of these obscure Euro-beers that I have no clue about. Though I love them because of this, it usually ends up being a glass that I cannot wait to empty. Let's see if this one does that.
A standard yellow-straw color shows some modest haze, vibrant carbonation, and forms a stark white head that persists and lasts the session. Falls just shy of lacing. A farily good look.
The beer displays a pilsner malt character that is partly malty, but mostly sweet grain flavored- somewhat worty. The hop character is sharp, pungent, and very earthy. Calling this one catty or skunked is fair but I think these flavors are more earthy than flawed and is built into the flavor profile. Spicy and riddled with sparse vegitable (cooked corn) tastes and aromas which compounds the sweet, under-attenuated character and hurts drinkability.
The heaviness is noticed on the palate due to unresolved sweetness, making the beer less palatable than prefered despite the adequate carbonation. Otherwise creamy and smooth, just sweet.

Impressive 500mL bottle, with pale gold label and neck foil.
a) Pale honey gold with thin white head, light bubbling.
s) Touch funky, like rotting hay. Light citrus note, but basically not very appealing.
f) Awkward at first, almost corn-like hints. Slightly sweet, with a ginger-spice note. After reading 'rice' on the label, I see similarities with Japanese lagers. But after a while, it's not that bad...
m) Medium body, slightly oily, and heavy for a lager. Harsh end.
d) I think it's quite drinkable. The sweetness keeps it in the race, otherwise not much going for it.

Poured from a halk litre bottle embossd with some Lithuanian heraldry and art. There was a best befored date, but the date on my bottle was O4LT? Unfortunately the bottle was probably the best feature of this brew. It poured pale and clear but the white head disappeared faster than I thought was possible. There was a slight grassy, hoppy aroma but it was combined with some unknown foul scent. The taste was light and refreshing with some hop flavor that was also interrupted buy a course and blunt off-flavor.
Not what I wanted out of my first Lithuanian brew. I was hoping for a good find considering the low cost. I got what paid for.

I rarely seek out a Latvian beer...ok, I never seek out a Latvian beer, but this beer hailing from the mighty nation of Latvia isn't half bad.
Pours a hazy almost cloudy yellow with a small white head that dissapates quickly and leaves not lace. Lots of carbonation and a full almost chewy mouthfeel.
Smells of grains and a hint of grass. Tastes kind of like a standard pilsner with a bit more citrus. Very little hop flavors and no real aftertaste, good or bad is present.
Overall a very drinkable beer, somewhat forgettable, but definitely refreshing and in my opinion, a beer worth trying.
Brew on you crazy Latvians!!

A: Poured a bright but semi-hazy lemon-gold with a respectable 1 finger soft, foamy head that was dull white in color and lasted but a few minutes before settling to a sparse light coating. Visible carbonation was light.
S: faint with a little sour lemons lingering about but not much else.
T: sour at first, with some lemons, a fresh breadiness and some light grains coming through in the end. The finish provided a big burst of lemons and some dry herbal hops. Overall a moderate euro-pale lager I suppose.
M: buttery slick with no carbonation detected while if finished off the tongue with some sour lemony herbal notes.
D: Average drinkability at best, a little rough and unpolished in the finish hinders enjoyment and looking forward to the next sip.

Bottle at the Mundelein beer tasting.
Pours clear, fizzy, and yellow. Smells like beer-- it'd very hard to pick out any individual notes, seeing as there's just not much going on here.
OK, that's it, I quit. Either I have no palate at all or this is the exact same beer as Syturys Ekstra, which may or may not be the same beer as Carlsberg, which may or may not be the same beer as Beck's.
Tastes like Euro pale lager-- nothing offensive, but nothing particularly enjoyable. I guess I could praise this beer for what it doesn't appear to have (adjuncts or the flavor profile of a roll of dimes), but that would be missing the point. The point is I can't ever see myself in a position where I'd want to drink this beer. It's better than average for a pale macro lager, so I guess go for it, if that's your thing. Plus it has a cool name, and it's "Draught", whatever the hell that means in a bottled, non-nitro beer.

A very attractive embossed 500 mL bottle (brown glass) topped with colorful, printed foil. December 6 06 Best By date. Unpasteurized, with eight month optimal shelf life (sample provided by importer.)
A slow pour into a 250 mL Pisener glass yields a brilliant, pale golden / straw in color, with a decent sized head plenty of froth, nice lacing, and good duration. Aroma is malt, rather grainy, with no real hops to speak of. Theres a tanginess here between the sweetish, medium-bodied mouthfeel and the lingering bitterness. Not a bad tanginess, but definitely grabs your attention for a bit before moving on to the finish. For the record, Ekstra Draught is a bit more full-bodied and a bit more bitter up front than regular Ekstra, although both display nice lingering hop bitterness. Seems to offer more bitterness than a pale euro lager ought to, but it is not a classic Pils, either, as there are very little aromatic qualities elicited from the hops used. Clean taste and crisp, dry finish. Hopheads and Pils purists may find this a bit bland, but it easily holds its own against others in the style and from the region (e.g. Aldaris Zelta, Obolon Premium.) This could be a hit in the U.S. if it were marketed aggesively (e.g., a 12/12 NR with a lower retail price point than Pilsner Urquell or Heineken) as it has a flavor profile that American macro drinkers are looking for. As for myself, its a decent beer, but it doesnt hold my attention like several other offerings from Eastern Europe (e.g. Krolewski, Astika Lux.)
