Deep brown and tawny colour donning a decent lace. Waves of mild caramel, trace notes of chocolate, heavy sweet toasted grain and a growing alcohol character make their way into the nostrils and infiltrate the taste buds. So smooth and refreshingly crisp, a little heavy on the palate with a creamy mouth feel. The Sour Kraut and Ham Soup needed a beer if this stature to keep things in check.

Presentation: On tap.
Appearance: A dark ruby red in colour, bright and clear. Head is a thin off-white lace.
Smell: Fruity, toasted and bready with a delicate floral hop aroma. Definite chocolate malt aroma in the nose, along with a grain dryness.
Taste: Malty, alcoholic, fruity and loads of chocolate malt character. Nice lemon-rind-like hop sting in the middle that dries into a toasted malt character, followed by more chocolate and some grain flavours. There's a steady crispness to the brew, too. Finishes slightly grain dry with bready (yeast) notes.
Notes: Lager, Crystal and Chocolate malts were primarily used for this batch. Although the chocolate was the lowest precentage of grist in the bunch, it really imparted its flavour in the end result -- making for a rounded taste, with depth and appeal. Most enjoyable.

Overall victory is an over priced beer .. they have hops devil and golden monkey and so on but the flavors do not go well together... this beer is for people who want to waste 35.00 a case and get high percentage alcohol beer.. or for those kids who just turned 21 and think its cool

I had written this review on my blackberry and e-mailed it to myself this past March. I lost it in my inbox. Posting now. I have no idea if this beer is available at this time.
Beer came with a tiny head that faded almost immediately.
No real lacing. Reddish/maroon amber color.
Aroma is of Light caramel and there is a touch of sweetness.
The flavor, no surprise, really does follow the aroma here. Caramel, some sweetness, but with a surprise at the end. There is more than a bit of hops and then a crisp finish. Kind of interesting for a bock.
Smooth med/light body. Slight carbonation.
Nicely drinkable.
One of the better Boston Beer Works beers, which isn't saying much.

Deep, rich copper brown color, fine head that fades fast. Smooth medium body. Very slight malt/caramel nose. Hints of toffee and honey in the flavors. Has a dry, slightly bitter finish. A bit disappointed with this one. Thought it might have more flavor/sweetness.
